Video card might make it noisy?

    • +3

The "silent" label for this system is probably a real stretch by the standards of PC silencing enthusiasts. None of the components have really strong credentials in that respect, and the CPU cooler used is conspicuously absent from the list.

      • +16

no mention of 3-prong power plug, either. No power plug = dead silent! :D

      • It's a stock cooler, which isn't noisy at all unless you're OCing it.

Unless this case comes with front intake fans, you're going to want to add that to it.

    • +3

silent until you put a dvd in…BBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRR

  • +4

Parts are around $740-750 all up from a quick look around… Good deal that takes out the time of building it yourself.

  • +2

the linked image even makes it look quiet

  • $17 shipping to cent vic. Delivered by glider apparently.

  • At the risk of showing my age, can someone explain please the reference to "Tahiti"? Although my preference would be for Bora-Bora :-)

  • +3

    damn i want new PC

  • +1

For the price, I think this is a decent deal too.
Rep, how is the cable management for this case?

    • +4

The cable management for this case is not as good as those high end gaming cases,
But for a budget silent case, i think the cable management is decent enough.
This Picturemight give you some idea :D

      • And another beauty shot of the guts please :D ?

  • +1

Thank you Rep. The cables are zip-tied together at the back of the case.

  • +3

It's marketed as a silent PC because of the case. Apparently the case has foam insulation on the sides. Not sure about how much it helps though.

    http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6702

    • +1

It does have foam insulation, but increases heat a tiny bit. It's the poor man's Fractal.

  • +1

Plus for a good parts list.

  • rep, whats the price without gfx?

  • +1

Anyone know if this is a decent enough system for modern games + audio editing (some video)? My desktop died about a year ago and have only been using my laptop, and that's also beginning to show it's age. If not, could someone recommend me some links?

  • +1

So would something like this easily handle the new upcoming Battlefield game? Or would I need to buy a more powerful system?

    • +1

I've been looking at building a system very similar to this for games, I am no expert but as far as I've read this is all you need, the GPU comes highly recommended, all components are good. (I'd prefer an upgrade on the PSU though.) Battlefield 4 has the same engine as 3 so it should be fine.

    • Hell yes , this will be able to play battlefield 3 ( very high setting) this would be suitable for years to come

      • Well, 1 year optimistically :P

  • If you can give me free shipping its a done deal?

    Please… :D?

  • Excellent value gaming PC. To squeeze a bit more out of it, add an SSD for your OS and you're set until the end of 2014 :)

  • +1

Could someone with a bit more knowledge explain to me the main difference (if any) between the 2 graphics cards that are available. I am leaning towards the GTX660 because i've read nVidia have better driver support and i've not really hear of the brand "PowerColor" who make the RADEON HD7870 card? thanks in advance. looks like a good deal.

    • +2

If you're talking performance then go the 7870. It is a very good card for the price and will beat the 660 in almost anything.

But the 660 will be less power hungry and possibly quieter (although I'm sitting here typing this on my new PC with a Powercolor 7870 in it and it's not that bad…)

Also and you'll want to confirm this with BudgetPC but the Powercolor 7870 should come with a code that allows you to download two new games - Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider. These games alone are worth close to $150. So you'd be silly to not get the 7870.

I actually bought parts for a computer yesterday from BudgetPC for the first time. Good service and nice owner.

      • The Radeon card doesn't support PhysX so you won't have that for games that support it (E.g. Planetside 2)

    • I went down to MSY late last year to buy a card. I said to the bloke: Do you get many returns on Powercolor cards?

      "Yes"

What about HIS? (another cheap brand)

      "Yes"

      What about the Sapphires?

"Yes. We get lots of returns on all these cheap cards. The only cards we dont get a lot of returns on are MSI, Gigabyte and Asus."

So I got the Gigabyte card. Must admit I had a sapphire card last time and it was a piece of crap.

      • I'm on HIS, had a 4870 and on a 7870 and they are amazing. IceQ cooler is far cooler and quieter than the others.

        Had 3 sapphires die.

    • The 7870XT (Tahiti LE) is indeed better than the GTX660, sources 1 2

In fact it is more on par with a GTX660Ti

  • Any cheaper if you don't build it? Just ship the parts.

  • Haven't compared pricing, but these specs are actually pretty good.

  • Good deal. Finally a rep who puts a decent brand PSU in a build.

  • +1 for the decent PSU…. now I need someone to post a deal on something similar in the mini ITX form factor with a Z77/H77 chip set

    • will this PSU deliver 500w, or is this the max are realistically we are looking at about 400w?
I would have thought this would be a little underpowered, when you factor in the cpu, dvd, usb requirements, as well as the GPU listing 500w minimum on the AMD site

    • with a Z77/H77 chip set

      Why?

      • I assume cause of all the USB3 ports? :P

  • website must be overloaded can't access the website

    • Thanks for all your support, our website has back online :D

  • I like this build for gaming but would swap out 500gb HDD fo 2-3TB and add 128gb SSD for OS / Games.

  • Rep are the SSD 120gb/60gb option an addition to the 500gb HDD? or is it separate as the boot device?

Also are the upgradeable ram (+8gb) also TEAM/Team xtreme?

    • +3

The SSD is a separate drive (won't replace the 500G HDD)
The upgrade ram are also the same Team 1600MHz RAM

  • +1

Not bad for a mid/low range machine you almost could not build this for less the PSU is decent as well.

  • +2

tempting, this or pay the bills…

    • this - then pay the bills online

      • +3

Ozbargained myself again - purchased with few upgrades $1100!!

        • lol what upgrades did you get?

  • +1

    Great Deal

You cant build it cheaper . best you can build it for (part only) $785.00 + (shipping) from shopping from 3 different online shop

only thing i would recommend is:

upgrading: mother board so you can add another video card and extra ram later
Asus P8B75-M LX is $62 but $6 more get the Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Motherboard

    ( more ram , 2 Video card , 7.1 sound, HDMI)

{ you mite not like that Motherboard but i am just giving a example that $5-$20 more get you a whole lot more then the basic )

Down grade the Cooler Master Silencer 550 $89 for a cheap $40 case ( it just a box to store the parts not a art piece) either save the money or spend it on a better PSU , CPU or motherboard so you can upgrade later

    • +2

The sound is in the intel chipset and actually the same. The HDMI is only for the on-cpu video which you won't be using.

Second video card might be nice to have up your sleave, but it is almost never worth it later rather than just replace the card (the power supply wouldn't drive 2 anyway).

More memory is a reason to pick something else if you want to.

    • +1

B75 can only crossfire at 4x, out of the southbridge and that will probably knock off a few 'integrated' pci-e peripherals. If you want to use two cards, you should be looking at a Z77, and confirm it does crossfire at 8x. Don't waste your time with 4x.

Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H and Asrock B75 Pro3-M are good boards with 4 ram slots.

      • Very good point - i always recommend min Z77 boards if you can afford it ( or just wait one week and save up for it :P )

  • By the way, 2% surcharge with Mastercard/Visa, 3% with Paypal, 4% with Diners/Amex. I got $18.75 shipping for 1 and $28.75 for 2 to Sydney. Oh, Melbourne gets free shipping (code budget-in-mind, from front page)! Lucky~~ Oh well, based in VIC after all.

I have a feeling upgrading this could cause it to guzzle more than 500W. :O Gonna email to see if customisations beyond what's on the page are allowed.

And lol, can't uncheck the box that says 'sign up for newsletter'! Sneaky (or it is just Chrome being silly..).. XD

  • So for the graphic card if I dont click the upgrade option I will automatically get the HD7870?
I never bought a custom built pc before, so for operating system what am I supposed to get 32 bit or 64bit? Also how do I get the free games and what are they?

Also when does this offer end, thanks

    • Yes, you will get the HD7870.

    • get 64 bit , you can still run 32 bit programs on 64 , but cant do it the other way round
32 bit only let you use 4 gb ram , 64 bit use up to 32 gb + and 64 bit is faster

  • For a comparison for anyone considering this.

I got my PC from VisionTech $178 the other week. I ended up paying $278 which got me a working PC and flexible upgrade options. The case is actually smaller than I thought, and everyone that's seen it can't believe the price I paid.
I got a 1200w modular PSU 80 Silver (This alone is cheapest $175 when I search Google), 8GB 1600mhz corsair, (1x8GB which I've then upgraded to 2x8GB dual channel), AsRock B75 R2 USB 3, SATA3 Mobo, basic G1610 ivy bridge CPU which came included.

That alone is $481 cheaper than this, excluding the cpu and gpu which if I bought now would cost around $424.
So a $50-$60 different and take into account it came pre bundled with a $45 CPU, and a more powerful PSU, which if I didn't have the cpu would have been $526 cheaper and gives more flexibility on GPU and CPU future options.

If you don't plan to spend any more, than definitely $759 is a fair price and you will be stoked, if you start upgrading, then I think the visiontech deal the other week is better value.

  • +1

Just added some PSU upgrade options, thanks all :D

    • the bargain just keep getting better

  • EXPIRED :(

  • +1

This offer going to come back any time soon? ie. before Tax Time <bg>
