Depends on the car. If you're comparing to some shitty chinese electric car, then yeah 2-3 years is probably viable.
Only because I have always loved the look of them. Obviously you prefer the Merc so if your heart is set on that, then buy it.
If you can afford the maintenance costs as well then I would personally get the BMW.
