The product page says the OS is still Symbian 3, you may want to update the firmware to Belle.

I was tossing up the same thing, except I went the N8 for a couple of reasons;
Camera is meant to be pretty decent
I already have 2x Galaxy S II, and a Huawei G600 sitting here doing nothing so another Android would be pointless
The N8 does 3G 850 & 900, the Sony only does 900 OR 850 (depending on model)
And, I've always wanted to try out a Nokia phone
If you only need 3G 900 (eg- almost anything other then Telstra) and just want a cheap Android phone, that Sony seems pretty good for the price.
Sony Xperia X10 is terribly laggy.
Dumped it as soon as I got a iPhone 4 Hand-me-down.
Please don't start Android vs iOS, it's just the x10 is terribly outdated (personal experience), took 0.5 delay in carrying out simple actions (opening contact list, calling, typing).
Never used it for anything else than that, apps loaded way too slow and laggy.
the X10 is $69… It's still better than most phones under $100

Sweet. I'm getting close to the end of life of my Nokia E63… I think most of the issues I've had with that phone will be improved with the N8 no matter what. Internet on an E63 is shocking to say the least. Not sure about texting on a 3.5" screen. I suppose practice makes perfect.
3.5 inch is bearable but Nokia soft keyboards have never been good. I think from a usability persepective, Symbian S60 touchscreen phones are probably one of the worse (if not the worst in touchscreen phone history). They sort of fixed it with Belle though, but its still fairly clunky and unintuitive when compared to modern OS's.
I would recommend you try out Android or Windows phone instead. There's a Nokia Lumia 520 for $160 ish on the front page and JB hifi is still selling a Defy+ for $99

this is a great camera phone, and an awesome price.
i almost bought one last night when the deal was first posted, but i already have one sitting unused (only because i now have the even better 808 PureView…if i didn't have that, i'd still be on the N8!).
in my opinion, if you care more about camera performance than phone performance, this 2010 phone is STILL the second best option behind the 808 PureView in 2013.
Where is the Nokia 808 PureView available for 80 bucks delivered?
