Wasn't this a nation wide special 2 weeks back?

    • Still is I think.

Saw the Protein earlier today at Surry Hills, NSW Woolies for the same price.

      • Probably cause it sold out very quickly

  • love these things, so quick and easy. and for this price i can afford the luxury and stock up. great for work too

    • I bought a whole bunch for the office. Hope no one nicks it from the fridge.

  • I liked the p30 water, but have not seen anywhere sell it since I bought all the stock at my last coles supermarket.

Expiry is May 2014 if anyone was wondering

this is a good deal at this price, but personally im not a big fan of the musashi protein drinks as they contain a little too much sugar for my liking - from memory around 20grams of sugar which is like 4+ teaspoons of sugar.

    • +3

28g of sugar actually, which is ridiculously high if you're trying to trim down and put on some muscle.

  • +2

Still seems awfully expensive compared to just buying skim milk ($1/l), or powder ($6/kg) at a fraction of the cost.
Whats the advantage of this? Marketing?

    • It is marketed to those who live a
Fast/busy lifestyle and want a quick instant protein hit

      • +2

        You mean a sugar hit?
There is no fast effect from consuming protein.

        • +5

I think he means more along the lines of a way to quickly consume some protein. Not have it processed through the body quickly.

Although your right, you can't really speed up the protein process within your body from one of these.

Where are you getting your protein at $6/kg from?

These work out to be roughly $58/kg/protein, but extremely convenient (no shaker bottles needed, no mixer/ice, a good 'snack'). At $1.74 a drink it's not too bad - it doesn't replace a good protein powder, but works as a good supplement to your supplement.

      • Where are you getting your protein at $6/kg from?

        Skim milk powder I'm assuming.

    • $6 per KG of protein powder, where?!
But yes, I agree with you on this count.
Tetrapak protein tend to be loaded with sugars not needed.

      • I don't think manic was referring to any sort of protein powder but just regular long life skim milk power.

      • +1

Yes, skim milk powder is about 35% protein, and popular as a supplement.
You find plenty of argument on the relative merits in sports forums.

This being OzBargain, I'm just saying that mixing your own protein shakes can be much cheaper.

  • Do these taste any good?

Sorry, Marge, I only eat food in bar form. When you concentrate food, you unleash its awesome power, I'm told.
