10% off Health Insurance Premiums with AHM through One Big Switch

44

One Big Switch has managed to negotiate a special deal with AHM on private health insurance.

Each one of us obviously has their own personal health needs and financial circumstances but for me this offer proved to be better then anything I was able to negotiate myself so I'm switching.

If you are interested, you must join by April 13 after which this offer will close.

Please also be advised that "One Big Switch" will be paid a commission by AHM for every person who joins. That's how they fund their operation.

mod - amended description, removing where it said that Choice was operating this business

"One Big Switch, which is a commercial enterprise operated by Choice"
that isn't true, it's got some ex-Choice staff members, but it's nothing to do with Choice.

    • OP please update misleading post.

for budget (basic) hospital cover with no extras, this is more expensive than my current insurer.

I'm not sure it's a good deal to me because what they are offering basically are the same with what i'm paying at the moment after 10% discount on premium…

    Your One Big Switch Quote:
    $308.00* /month
    ahm's non-discounted premium: $342.20 #/month
    * Price includes 30% Australian Government rebate and excludes Lifetime Health Cover Loading (within 10c of actual price due to rounding)

Your quote (My current health fund)
    From $304.60*/month
    * Price for customers eligible for 30% Australian Government Rebate and nil Lifetime Health Cover Loading.

They're all a-holes anyway. I switched polices as we had a discount through work, 2 weeks later, renewal came in and price went up another ~6%.

To me it's more like 1 big con, its NOT run by choice, its by ex Choice staff and something tied in with News limited, the discounts are based off the top prices, no the lowest prices you can get.

Yeah, I tried setting it to what my current cover is now. I would be $30/fortnight worse off which is $780/year worse off!

Choice was involved with a failed mortgage deal with OBS .

A CHOICE spokesperson said the group had not joined in any further campaigns with One Big Switch, and was "not involved in any current group switching around mortgages, energy or any other products".

I don't trust any company that buys so many advertorials on trash-TV and other media.

wow, $60-$135 per signup. they must be making a killing

  • it is actually beneficial to me.

medibank private basic hospital cover + 1st extra cover cost more than this basic hospital cover + lifestyle extra cover.

  • I'm with Medibank. OBS is looking like it would cost more for my plan.

I just discovered, going through the list of what I'm covered for, that Medibank removed cover for Major Dental work under the Healthy Plus plan :S

  • even though there is only 26 reviews and most are negatives, i think this product needs to be looked into thoroughly before signing up

  • I'm with medibank with a 7% discount and somehow AHM are more expensive with a 10% discount. No deal here for me.

    • How do you get that 7% discount?

  • Compared to Bupa it's not a bad plan. Paying $200 a month right now for basic hospital and mid extras. With this looks like I could get away with it for $180. Mind you depends on coverage… remember people ALWAYS read the policy before signing up.

  • Has anyone already with AHM called them to see if they will price match? I would drop from 141.25 down to 127.10 a month with this deal. Im on the line with them at the moment to see if they will price match the deal for me. Seems unfair that i couldnt get the deal since im already with them, but wouldnt surprise me either.

    • Was as simple as getting the right phone number to speak to someone at AHM to get me signed up to the new rate. Thanks OP.
