Vitacost affiliate sales are worth $10 each. I think Vitacost affiliate deals should be banned, for this reason.
Would not trust any fish oil supplements, let alone vitacost brand.
I believe the general consensus on krill oil is that whilst in some circumstances it may be better than regular fish oil, it is not worth the significant additional cost.
I use to buy supps like no tomorrow .. I noticed that the only real difference to feeling better was:
1) good, clean homemade food food
2) plenty of sleep and water
3) proper technique with whatever you're doing (whether walking to lifting)Can't fault the marketing, though .. had me sucked in for a long time!
I recently read an article in a health magazine where it's not the Omega 3 that makes a difference for heart health, but the fact that you replace a red meat meal with fish that provides a beneficial effect.
For the time being I'm taking some krill oil supplements,on the advice of my GP, but a proper diet is definitely a better option for general well being.
I read the same .. there are so many variables to krill oil supplements including packaging and how long it was sitting on the shelf. End of the day, most of the stuff we take has little to no benefit by the time it reaches us. Not saying it makes 0 difference (it may make a small %) but compared to swapping that real meat for real fish then you're right .. the body will benefit much more than a supplement. I don't even believe in protein powders, though so I am "that guy". The only thing I would consider taking is amino acids but they have been scientifically proven for recovery/building.
I am surprised a GP actually advised this. I see no benefit in taking krill oil at all.

It's the new snake oil.
OMG a 'Naturopath' site says it is baaaad. Does that make it good? Does krill oil contain snake oil for extra gullibility?
i wish people would read the label 1000mg of oil doesnt mean squat if the total dha/epa content is low.
http://www.vitacost.com/carlson-super-dha-gems 500mg dha/100mg epa per serve.
Apparently krill oil is more effective even with lower levels of epa/dha:

people need to stop thinking vitamin pills will make up for their crappy diets.
from page 4 of http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-tests/food-and-health/f… :
"There is not yet enough evidence to support the claims that krill oil is more powerful or better absorbed than fish oil,” says Professor Garg. “Ultimately it’s the DHA + EPA levels in the supplement that are important, whether they’re from krill or fish oil.” Cleland agrees. “Krill oil has no demonstrated advantage beyond its levels of omega-3 and omega-6, which are in fact lower than in fish oil. The benefits of the antioxidant astaxanthin are unknown.”
omg, why are there so many vitacost spams today?
