  • Hella cheap for 250gb 2.5" hard drive! Going to pick some up tomorrow.

  • +2

Only 260 days for this to become reality. :p

    • That wasa a 3.5" drive from K Mart.
A 2.5" 250GB drive still goes for $125 (cheapest on staticice)

  • Has this drive been used as a donor for an eee pc 1000h? :)
If it's suitable, it would be a great option!

Does OW Sussex St, Sydney have stock?

  • Wouldn't be using it as a donor HDD for an eeepc as the price of 2.5" are coming down due to the 400GB and 500GB being release over the last week.

Stock 2.5" 250GB is 99 or lower at most places - even the 7200 RPM drives are down to $130ish.

  • Thanks sycotek; my aim is to get something fast & useful enough, with case, so I could swap the 80G into the case after upgrading with the 250G or whatever drive. If the 400-500Gb externals get into this price range I'll wait a while longer!

If this 250Gb was at least as fast as the 1000h drive I'd still be tempted if I could put the 80Gb in the case.

    Thanks again.

  • This appears to be a SATA drive, so that rules it out as a netbook internal drive, right?

    • +1

Laptops now use SATA drives - at least for 2 years now

  • A bare 500gb 2.5" is around $150, so just buy a cheap USB case for it will do.
