How is HD at 30fps considered pro?

    • +8

I think cos it released in 2016. Decent camera for meetings etc but yea I imagine there are better options at this price point or close to

      • +3

        care to name any?

    • +2

If you're using it in a workplace (ie, professional) situation, eg, Microsoft Teams maxes out at 1080p @ 30fps, so there's no need for a 4K camera or higher frame rates there. But yes also what was said above, back in 2016 it was decently spec'd.

      • What's an unprofessional situation?

      • 1.5Mbps - so its descaled.

      • +2

Best feature I'd say is the stereo mics, not sure its a gimic or not. But haven't had any audio issues for years with sound pickup.

An observation as WFH and hybird has evolved, the use of ear buds has dropped off. The prevelance of apple ones especially. Its all webcams and some old school over the ear headsets now.

    • +7

To be fair, my mates at work still comment on how much clearer I look through my C922 compared to their laptop's internal webcams. It's pretty good for professional use going by that.

I mean, since when did naming conventions matter in the eyes of companies in regards to function. Hence why companies over name everything despite what the products actually do.

This must be one of the few electronic products that remain largely unchanged for 10 years now. And will probably remain the same for another 10.

      If it ain't broken….

Been using one since 2020. Great Camera.

      • Agree, I think I bought mine 3 years ago and it's done it's job well for WFH meetings.
I think the built in webcams on new macbooks are a bit better, but if your setup at home has your laptop off to the side, or closed, it's nice to have the camera above your external monitor.
The video quality isn't great but it's good enough

      • bought a creative live cam in 2022 and it until a few months ago it was good, now it stops when i do a zoom or teams call, like it just cuts off and the browser or software says no camera available, i uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled latest, it didnt fix it, it cuts off after a few seconds, but when i go to view my self in the cam app (not on call) it works. this never used to happen only started happening a few months ago. and its driving me insane

    Still $199 at JB

This is one of the reasons why I don't like JB. The RRP for this webcam should be at max $100… and that's pushing it

At this price, I'd say it's an okay deal

    • JB trying to make some money off the poor fools who don't frequent OzB

    • Purchased a c910 in 2012 for $89, still does the job too.

    • they need to rename their business to JB RRP Hi-Fi

  • +2

Back to pre-covid price when no one wanted a webcam.

  • Is this any good? I've been waiting for a good Webcam on here for a while, and I don't mind paying for quality, but I'd rather not spend on something that leaves me disappointed. I sense this might be "so-so"?

I have this, the predecessor 920 Pro, and Dell WB7022. My 920 Pro is still running well and C922 is running okayish (it struggles with Team for some reason) and my Dell is a bit problematic (Delayed shutter once connected to web meeting, occasional crash, etc).

So yes, C920 is very reliable. C922 is not bad even if it may occasionally struggle with Teams. Still better than my Dell.

      • I got the C920. Someone left it in the office when they left. Contacted them and said it wasn't working. Plugged it in, ran Windows updates to get the default drivers, works fine.

Been my primary WFH camera for the last 2 years now. No complaints.

  • Are you sure its the same product? The Logitech logo is different.

    • Yup, same model number 960-001090.

For some reasons some have Logi and some have Logitech on the pictures(google.com.au).

  • whats the next step up from this?

    • -1

      Logitech Brio 4k

Insta Link 2C: https://store.insta360.com/product/link-2, click on the 2C unless you want the gimbal base.

      It's in a different league.

      (neg wasn't from me)

      • +1

So it's two steps up then

      • +1

Who neg'd? Did you not realise all Logitech did in recent years was incremental refreshes on 10 years old hardware?

  • +3

    https://amzn.asia/d/1yb7zsy

$55 - Id get this instead

    • What's the difference between the models?

    • That's the Brio 100, a newer model?
Has anyone compared it with the C922?

  • Have one for work - works just fine

Remember to get the physical cover for it

    • I made one out of cardboard and sticky tape.

This is a good webcam. Note if purchasing for WFH, your employer's ICT policy may prevent the installation of specific software (which is what normally differentiates different webcam manufacturers). No point going over 1080p if using for things like Microsoft Teams.

  • +1

I have an older version of this webcam, and while I'm not sure if they've fixed the mic, the one on my model is so horrendous when cranked to 100% that I can use it to troll my friends.
You can find examples by searching "Logitech C920 funny mic" on YouTube.

Pair this with Jabra Speak and you have a nice speakerphone setup.

  • still remember that I bought one for $240 during the pandemic period.

    • +1

      ultimate price jack times

  • 1-2 month wait on these now it seems :(

  • I went from the C920 to a Streamcam which has 60fps 1080p

  • +1

I think phone camera is better if you get used to the phone for recording anyway and don't want to spend much on a better webcam. An alternative way for those who like to know.

    • +1

I used to use DroidCam app to use old phones as webcams, it works well and gives you the option of a wireless webcam, only negative is you need to make sure it's charged beforehand

  • I use it for Zoom group exercise classes, happy with it. Auto focus and low light adjustment work for me.

Only negative is the mount if you put it on top of your laptop as it doesn't swivel horizontally. I use a tripod, so not an issue.

  • buy the brio 100 its a better device and cheaper. i saw a youtube comparision it performs better in most categories, also u can get it for 49 dollars and even cheaper if you price match or price beat. i got it for 46 dollars officeworks price matching centre com go grab yours

  • This camera is perfect for home office (and work office) use. the Microphones on it are so far superior to others I've used. That is so often overlooked, being heard clearly matters!
