    "Mininum purchase"
Rep is proof of the effectiveness of their courses…

English teachers working in Australia are subject to a minimum federal award. A newly-qualified teacher with no relevant experience working in a CRICOS-registered school in Australia will make $40.20 an hour (as a level 2 teacher) under this award (MA000075). Many areas of Australia work under awards which are substantially higher than this.

I assume that as you charge approximately $30-$40 per hour for tuition that you're paying your teachers closer to $20 per hour (which presumably includes their preparation and admin too?)

I therefore dispute whether it is possible for you to hire "an experienced English language teacher". Any teacher who really is any good (and living in Australia) would laugh at this kind of money.

This therefore means that you're either using Australian teachers who are totally unqualified/far too inexperienced to work in an Australian language school or using overseas labour.

    So, rep:

    1. What qualifications and experience do you guarantee they hold? While Wisekangaroo clearly isn't a CRICOS registered school, do your teachers meet (or come close to meeting) the minimum requirements (CELTA + Degree) expected of an Australian ELT school, given the strong Australian association in your advertising?

    2. If they aren't Australians (and I suspect they are probably in the Philippines) what standards do you use to ensure that they are indeed 'native speakers'?

    3. You do realise that the IELTS logo is registered trademark and not something that you can freely use in advertising your online courses?

I call BS on this whole thing.

Good points raised. Digging a little deeper into their website reveals that anyone who speaks English and has a broadband Internet connection and a PC can be a teacher. They do not advertise the qualifications possessed by their tutors nor do they publicise the requirement for any tutor who wishes to join their team.

      http://www.wisekangaroo.com/join-our-team/
"To become one of our teachers, you need to be passionate about teaching the English language and have excellent spoken and written English language skills."

However, their facebook page does mention that their tutors are CELTA certified and based in Australia. (Wall post dated 16 Oct 2012)

Now look at the first public post made by someone from India who wishes to work with them as a tutor. It contradicts their point that the tutors are based locally.
