Kindle Book, Printers and Ink: Money Saving Secrets Everyone Should Know - 99c Normally $2.99

30

Hi Oz-bargainers

I recently released a book to the kindle on the topic of saving big money on your printer ink.
This is not a 'junk' book like so many released of late.. It took months to research this book as well as the years I spent finding the best way to pay almost nothing for my printer ink.

I'm a daily visitor of ozbargains (I wake up every morning and check email, news, Facebook, and then Oz Bargains) and would like to offer this book for 99c and will only be telling the visitors of this page…

I would really love to hear the thoughts/constructive criticism of those that read it…
Is there anything I have missed?
What do you think of my book cover?
Is it worthy of a good review?

Thanks heaps for your support
Brad

TIP #1: DO NOT PRINT OUT THIS EBOOK.

haha…I'll add that in the next version…

Book covers buying a CISS(Continuous Ink Supply System)?

    • A couple of years ago I was in the customs office in Burma while traveling from Thailand (scary at the time).
And all the printers in that little room had tubes running from their printers to these massive containers of ink. I would have taken a photo but I wanted to leave Burma safely :)

If you don't use your printer often you don't want 50 liters of ink sitting there degrading. Ink does have a shelf life

      • Haha, I have seen that in an office in malaysia. They have tubes connecting to an external ink container and you can refill again into the container when the ink runs low.

Yes… That is covered in a chapter but only recommended for heavy users.

Pay nothing for ink, buy the same printer you use at work :p

    • They don't let me near the printers at work :)

I've had quite a few sales but where are the votes?
I'm only making 35c for this so I'm not after your money…. spread the word and stop the big printer corporations taking everyones money.

Think about this; HP ink costs around $1620 per liter (I give HP as an example because typically they are the only company that puts volume on the cartridge) Seriously… it's mainly water and pigments. Don't fall for it!

They bait you with a cheap printer then you think you have no option buy to buy their ink!

    • FREE might get you more votes. What magical secrets are there besides refilling aftermarket cartridges with auto-resetting chips using aftermarket inks? Catching Squid in the sea and making your own inks?

      • Yuck… who wants to re-fill cartridges? Who wants to play around resetting chips? Not me
Much easier ways to pay cents per page… it all starts with selecting the right printer.
Only two brands of printer can do this… and only about 1 out of 10 printers in office works can.

      • Thanks for your feedback Steptoe… one of the main reasons I put this here…
I want to know the reasons why people don't "buy" this…
        Free doesn't tell me anything…
Most people who download free stuff don't even look at it… so why even bother?
99c makes the person commit to at least looking at what they download

So make it free with access granted after a compulsory survey.

        • Thats right, im also voting for free, the authour already said it wasnt about the money. It may have taken a lot of research, so does app development and app developers sell apps by giving apps away for free for iOS apps.

        • octagonalman… people would simply go straight to amazon and do a search to easily avoid any survey.

Amazon are starting to phase out the free book and I believe they wont exist by the end of the year (my opinion)
The main reason authors release their book free is to send their books up the amazon category listings as amazon treats a freebie the same as a sale.
In the last few weeks they have restricted the visibility of the free books and have greatly lowered the weighting of the freebie. So unless the author gives away thousands of copies their rankings will drop big time.

The last free day I ran my rankings dropped from around 11,000 to 500,000 and I'm reluctant to run another… but may do a quick one in a week or two..

    • I've had quite a few sales but where are the votes?

      They probably regret their purchase.

      • :) hope not..

I went ahead and got your book, it is an interesting topic and its good that this is on OZB, but as per my comment above , it needs to be free to be a bargain.

Have had a quick read of your book, very good, and thanks for the info. Yes, sure did spend a lot of money on ink for ink jet printers.

    • thanks Crownachor….
      Glad you liked the book

May do a free promotion in a few weeks, would be unfair to the ones that already bought it to do it right now.

  • There's a software that decreases the output of ink which I used to use when I was printing quite a bit. For most things I can print at 30% ink output and can't really tell there's a difference. I even reduce the ink output for DVDs when I was printing them. You really can't tell the difference.

I think the software is call InkSaver. When you setup the software, it prints out a picture and some sample text 10 times and with each time it repeats itself, it reduces the ink by 10% so you get a feel fro what you are happy with.

I think that is all you really need. simple and straight forward. Besides that, don't turn on/off your printers too much it just spits the ink out when you do that.

    • some nice tips … thanks

tl;dr : Don't buy inkjet printers, only lasers with generic toner cartridge available (costs about 1c/page).

    • Unless you want colour :)
My inkjet cost me about the same, but it's colour
