I've been watching the Nokia Lumia 820 price for quite sometime now and this is the lowest price drop from Kogan, it was $389 couple weeks ago, came down to $369 just last week and now $319 (plus shipping).

$338 with shipping I presume? Even so its a pretty darn good deal for a very decent LTE phone.

    • +2

yes, $19 shipping for me, very damn tempting

  • It is a great phone. Bought one a couple of months ago for $400.

    great pricing

good find. you can also consider the new 720 which is coming out soon. good specs, only problem it's not a LTE phone.

    • +1

which is a deal breaker on any new phone if you ask me… :) you know what they say.. once you go 4g you never… go.. errr back? i have a 820 and that's a ridiculously cheap price

      • Once you 4g, you never 180

      • The plans need to be competitive before I'll jump. For instance I am wth vaya's $11 plan which gives me 1.5GB. The same quota warrants a $22 4G plan. I do not want to pay extra on a deal that is only going to be used on my phone.

EDIT: Wow. They have new plans.

    • Yes it is. It clearly states in the specs it is LTE compatible.

    awesome deal!

    Great deal, great price.

I had a Lumia 920 for a few weeks though and I found WP8 to be a wash though, shortly thereafter I migrated back to Android :(

yeah windows 8 seems to be a hit or miss though, some people love it, others just hate. For me, I'm giving all the OS out there a fair go

      • for work i prefer it to any other phone on the market even the iPhone…

        • +1

          interesting, why is that?

        • I'll chime in from a corporate enterprise perspective: WP8 includes a "Company Apps" section in the settings page.

If you have a MDM (Mobile Device Management) infrastructure put in place from Microsoft or another third party software (like MobileIron) all you have to do is sign in with your work email address/password and it configures your phone with certificate authenticated email/calendar/contacts and ties in nicely with the office suite and other applications. Because it is basically "built in", the whole phone works well with it.

There is no app you need to download from the app store, no special "email client" to access the certificate authenticated email and typically doesn't require the phone to be encrypted as it is secure enough like the iPhone (but can be if needed).

        • From a corporate perspective, the iphone/ipad can be configured the same way. We have MDM at work for IOS devices, install a cert on devices and we can mass deploy configs/settings/emails etc…
What I want to know is, what W8 phones have advantages in a Microsoft Network Environment that IOS don't? Any insight is appreciated.

    • I like it but after missing out so many message and email i switched back. I read news a lot and most of the time in the browser. The notification only comes for 3 second and gone. You will need to check the homescreen tile all the time to find out what are you missing.

Also unless you use big tile it only have counter and not live tile. Big tile only fit 3 apps before you need to scroll..

Good concept but small litle thing we take for granted in feature phone is missing in axtion

already own this phone… tempted to buy another as a backup just in case, Best phone ever had so far…

    • +1

      what was your previous phone?

    • Man that is an impressive back up. Mines a k800i

      • Crap, I forgot I had that phone, not sure where it is though…. Wasn't a bad phone either

A backup phone should be something basic.

  • I would be all over this if it had HDMI out, it's such a shame. HDMI would have turned this device into an ultraportable Windows PC & media player. Even the Nokia N8 had HDMI. With my Xperia S I connect to large displays along with a keyboard and mouse when on the move in hotels etc, which is great, but it would be even more cool to have Windows for a true ultra-portable PC experience. Smartglass and other wireless solutions blow.

    • That is what a tablet is for.

Ships in 2-3 weeks whats that all about?

    • If you have used the media sync in this phone you will think that this is definitely not a media device. No proper player even those from microsoft

  • Grateful if anyone can tell me if I can use this phone as a thumb drive. ie. connect this phone to my desktop, copy pdfs and music files from the desktop to the phone. Play the files on the phone right away with no issues.

Windows 8 phones do not use Zune like WP7. When you plug your WP8 into a Windows PC you will see it as a device in Windows Explorer with folders for Documents, Music, Pictures, Ringtones and Videos.

      • Thats cool

      • thanks sallan75. Cool in Windows Explorer?! the internet browser?
my preference of platform now is : win8>android>iOS(because of itunes)

        • No not the internet browser. In Windows 8, Windows Explorer was renamed File Explorer.

  • I bought one this week for $360 Unlocked (optus branded ) aussie stock!one of the girls was selling it on gumtree. I just lost few dollars . Good phone overall.
I had to sell my Samsung galaxy S3 as the side walls started to crack a bit ! Shame

    wow…but i hate nokia

  • My wife got this phone a month ago, great phone plus the free music service is awesome

  • Just wondering if Google maps and Google search function properly on WP8 phone?

    • No and no.. bing worked though

    • +1

There is a setting to use google search by default via their mobile site. Google maps works on the mobile site or via apps.

  • any one knows if it comes with navigation function?

    • +3

It comes with Nokia Drive which is AWESOME!!

    • +1

I'm sure it does, same with every other Nokia fone

  • I'm out of date with new-tech phones, still have Symbian.
    What is "LTE" do/meaning?

    • +1

LTE mean its 4g compatible, it stand for long term evolution.

    • Can we sync direct with a notebook yet?

Last I heard, if we buy some software, we can sync contacts and calendar only, using an offline wireless connection to Windows 8 phones.
