Been incredibly happy with my set.
Well balanced, easy to clean, easy to maintain.I wouldn't put them in the same league as Global … but they are certainly very respectable.
Oh I don't know about that, they are pretty good quality, and I know professional chefs that happily use them.
I must say, I think people get a bit silly about knives. Once you cross a certain price point (basically, not bargain basement, say >$50 bucks on special for a chef's knife), keep it sharp and it will be indistinguishable from most other knives except insofar as it feels in the hand, etc. Important factors, certainly, but quite individual.
Also who are all these ninjas who need the best of the best when it comes to knives? They must hang out with the peeps who think spending less than 10 grand on a stereo is a waste of money…
I've had a set for 7 years. Awesome. The sharpener that comes on the block is great. I'd buy them again.
These blocks don't have the sharpener built in. I'd say it's worth buying by itself.
Depends what you want. These are knives with steel handle and low grade steel, if you want better (harder) steel get global, if you want even better steel and decent handle get something Japanese like shun for example. For what they are i think this "sale" prices the furi's about right. I liken them to a similar quality to Victorinox. No expert i only used a Furi once, hated ever moment of it!
I personally would stay away from the knives after my experience… They are not in the same league as global or wostoff… They blunt quicker and show water marks almost straight away…
They're also about half the price even at Full price Furi vs Sale price Global/Wusthoff!
And at these prices, they're more like quarter price.
Had a set of thes for about 3 years. No complaints, the steel is definitely softer than my old Wusthofs, but they sharpen easily and are a fraction of the price
Mine just got delivered. The packaging is terrible. There is nothing but pits of packaging left in the satchel. :p
Now I need to go home chop chop.
Furi is hardly high quality knives…
