"Actual sticker price on the 201-piece set seems to be the lowest it's been though…."
Interesting that the last line of the first positive review mentions "Stronger product then I remember Stanley making. A+ for 80$!".
So maybe back in 2010 it was lower. Great buy though.
Edit: never mind, I just realised that shipping would be the mistake in my comparison. Ignore this please :-)
it was hardly ever $99 according to camelcamel
but its the cheapest its ever been
stupid question…
Are the US standard tool sizes (sockets, spanners ect) the same size as the ones we have here? Are they the same measurements, only in different units?
The set should contain both metric and imperial.
I personally think most of stanley gear is junk.

If you trust amazon reviews, they have 24 reviews from customers:
13 people on the entire planet gave it 5/5 stars.. it must be pretty good! +1
So i gather you revue everything you buy right??
To be fair I don't think many people who are hard on tools are the person who would buy them from Amazon. I'm guessing a lot of these people bought the kit to build computers and install body kits and stereos in their cars. Not replace gear boxes etc.
Because not only has everyone on entire planet bought one of these, but everyone was compelled, afterwards, to post their thoughts about it on Amazon.com /facepalm
I'm guessing a lot of these people bought the kit to build computers
you mean .. "in your opinion"
did you interview them ?
Because not only has everyone on entire planet bought one of these, but everyone was compelled, afterwards, to post their thoughts about it on Amazon.com
That could only make sense if there were 24 people on the planet.
RSV1000 29 min ago - So i gather you revue everything you buy right??
I don't know how often he goes to see theatrical entertainment but perhaps the reviews are based on 13 very important people.
Like a janitor, or Ferrari mechanic, or sky-net technician…
I'm guessing a lot of these people bought the kit to build computers
You don't need anything but a screwdriver to put a PC together.
Chances are they bought it, used it a couple of times and reviewed on amazon. Sounds like a real test of longevity…
I have had a similar set that I bought to keep at home and there was at least two major issues I found with the set.
1) The two screws hold the ratchets together fell out
2) The drive selector became loose and was not able to select a drive.
This was all within a month, so I promptly returned the set got my money back and the next time the sidchrome truck came to work I bought a 1/4-3/4 set for at home.
So how did "If you trust amazon reviews" suddenly become interpreted as "Amazon reviews are the gospel on every facet of the products quality, performance and durability"?
I'm not sure that easternculture was trying to ram them down your throats, just pointing out that the reviews were there and what the summary was. They are what they are, 24 reviews. Read into them what you will.
Seemed like a quite legitimate response to the previous post, no more or less than the other posts detailing their own experiences - good or bad.
Stanley back in the day made great tools. Now all of there stuff is cheap Chinese crap. But this will be good for a person that needs these parts every once and a while.
I wouldn't buy them myself.
I wouldn't buy them myself.
Of course you wouldn't… you're Macgyver! You fix cars with paddle pop sticks
Since the other reply seemed to have been negged out, here is the answer. From the product description at the base of the Amazon page there are both metric and imperial (aka SAE) ranges included in the kit. They are not the same size but different units. If you use the wrong size then it will not be as snug fitting and you have more of a chance of rounding out the edges or slipping.
I will not buy something postage close to price

You might get better value if you buy two and split shipping costs with a friend
edit: scratch that. ordering more than one unit offers no shipping discount
and whats wrong with saving $37
Im happy to buy it from amazon and sell it to you for $149 ^_^
Some people might value a local warranty at $37. Besides I think Stanley offer a lifetime warranty which you won't get with grey imports.
I cant find any documentation on the net that lifetime warranty applies to Australia.
Only seems to apply in the USA and Canada.
Can anyone comment

Click warranty down the bottom. Redirects to another one of their sites with warranty info
You will probably only use like 2-5 of the items. Mainly 10mm and 12mm sizes
13mm is much more common then 12mm. M8 Bolts and nuts matey.
I NEVER come across 13mm on bikes or cars, a lot more 8 10 12 14 17
I do, on my commodore.
Definitely a bargain if your living in US to get it for $67.99, but not a bargain for AU residents, sorry! Total comes up as $115.56 via Air Mail postage, or $188.01 via Priority Shipping —get it Friday, March 15
So please enlighten us - where in Australia is it the same price or cheaper delivered?
bunnings would be more than happy to sell it to you for $149 and make the profit.
$37 more to have instantly and have local warranty is something goes wrong.
Toss up. It is an increase, but if your prone to not being lucky with tools lasting it could potentially be better to get it at bunnings.
Amazon is good with damaged goods, but, increased time delay is always annoying and cost of sending things back could be frustrating.
It is a nice price.
But there are always pros and cons to everything.
why is local warranty so important?
most hand tool manufacturers will replace it as if it was locally purchased.
ive bought snap on tools and had my local snap on dealer replace it.
Is that you again, Gerry?

List of tools in the set here.
Awesome. Time to replace the crappy SCA toolkits I have and have half broken.
Addictive stuff, this discount business.
After some studious bargain-hunting I bought a set, along with some other stuff I was chasing at Amazon. It helps spread the delivery cost a bit.
Thanks OP.
The ones in the pic looks like the cresent set that I bought from Bunnings when it was on special.
Personally i would get this

anyone spotted any deals for geared spanners/wrenches??
you don't want it if it's not the 'Fat Max' range.
I have the below and cant recommend it enough:
http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Stanl…
I haven't quite replaced a gearbox with it yet, but it has seen some serious mechanical challenges and it's done well. I previously had Snap-on/Teng stuff and I can't say that this is much inferior.
Mine arrived today, not bad for $115 bucks :D
That's what I reckon too, after inspecting mine.
Grateful this deal was posted.
Shipped cost coming up as AUD 117.36 here, or USD 115.56 when doing the currency switcheroo on their site.
Actual sticker price on the 201-piece set seems to be the lowest it's been though; nice find.
