I have this model, and the pausing live tv works a treat. (I bought both models to see which one was better.) This one is better, except, when playing videos it does not preserve the aspect ratio but stretches the content to fill the screen. The menu fonts are a bit nicer on the Berge box. Plays 720p h264 fine, but stutters on 1080p h264 a bit. Thats a plus from me!
What makes this piece of crap a bargain?
Crap, meant to + that comment, not neg it!
Off-topic post… it's discounted, and heavily by the looks.
What makes it a piece of crap apart from possibly the price?
Others have bought it and had fair to good experiences.
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1953011Just looked at your link and was wondering how you came to your conclusion.
The census seems to indicate weak reception tuner, buggy and quirky software, other equivalent products are better.
If that is your idea of fair to good, I would conclude that you are a software developer / avid windows user.
Linux user (ex Mac user)
and I'm a realist…
$18 delivered for a set top box is a great price and it does the job provided you feed it a good signal.
yep sorry it still makes it a waste of time :p good for the kids room I guess.
Anyone finding these one day bargain sites that advertise for other companies which are product based dodgy?
No details on company actually selling the unit whatsoever.
At least with service-based products you can always look up the bricks and mortar shop first.

If you can actually pause live tv, it's a better deal than the other one. Unless you're looking to play mkv's, which apparently the other one is meant to do.
