      In Summmary:

      '+' Intuitive Touch Screen Interface
      - Sluggish Auto-Focus
      - Coarse AF points
      - Lack of Lens options
      - A 'Me-too' product that is focusing more on protecting markets than on innovating

      • I am not a Canonian but you can get an adaptor (a bit costly at ~$200 though) and get any Canon DSLR mount lenses attached to this little beast.
Slow autofocus - it is applicable to pretty much all mirrorless cameras.
Canon is protecting market ? From my perspective they give Canon people more options. If I was one of them I would get it for sure.

AF is fast done of the other mirror less cameras…pick up an Olympus EP3 or EM5 or even a NEX6 and you will see what a mirror less can do with AF. The Nikon 1, albeit with a much smaller sensor puts DSLRs to shame when it comes to AF speed with native lenses.

I own a Nikon J1 and an EP3 as well as some Nikon DSLRs (D700/D300)…..

Like the Nikon 1 this is very much an attempt to stem the flow of buyers turning to Olympus and Sony for a mirror less camera and trying to retain existing users in the brand. You said it yourself…. If you used canon you would get one……

          Well-said.
Panasonic's mirrorless range also do decent AF, particularly the G5 (albeit bigger than this, but it has a viewfinder).

Canon is playing catch-up with mirrorless and it shows.
Their DSLR range is strong as always though.

I predict we'll see a further slide in price here, without rebates.

  • Great price but as I already have a 7d and an S95 (which is great) I'm not sure can justify

    • +1

I've got an s95 as well.
Sorry mate but you cannot compare APS-C sensor camera with a good but still P&S one with a tiny sensor.

He also stated he has a 7d, which is an SLR.
I don't think his comment was about comparisons; more about stating that he already has 2 cameras and can't justify purchasing another (probably a common occurrence with ozbargain visitors; I know I can relate…)

  • Can anyone confirm if the car cams are on special?

  • Great price…..i got mine from Jb for the same price 2 days ago. The adaptor was 132 for me when buying with the camera. The 22mm lense is great.

  • The small battery trying to power the motors in large EF lenses with the adaptor. Like trying to power a Tv off a 9v battery.
