Excellent quality headset, had mine since launch and it's still perfect in sound quality and build. I paid $300 and still feel they were totally worth every cent.

I have the PX-5 and the XP-500(exactly the same besides wireless chat for xbox) and they have been good headset's thus far apart from they are heavy on the AA's but this isn't a problem if you have picked some eneloops from deals on here.

    Standout features for me:

Wireless bluetooth chat that works with your phone. So you can stream songs and phone calls over BT which is great when someone calls you in the middle of a game or stream some sick beats while you pawn some noobs.

    and

The different audio profiles, the preloaded ones are pretty good but you can download or customise the profiles. I used one of the stock profiles in skype and it was awesome for background noise, I could literally hear birds outside of my mates house.

My only gripes are the headband is a bit tight for us big headed blokes and as I mentioned earlier about the batteries.

    Edit:

I should also mention that there is a separate volume control for the bluetooth so calls/song aren't overbearing.

I am not an audiophile so I can't really comment on sound quality.

    • Was this review from amazon?

      • No this is my review.

  • Does the device get charged while its on the stand?

    • It doesn't recharge at all, it uses 2xAA batteries. Your average duracell ,energizer etc will get you about 4-6 hours but with the eneloops I get about 7-9 hours of use before needing to swap out for some full charged ones.

Honestly it's biggest downfall is that it is not rechargeable.

I prefer the AA batteries. I'm often in the middle of a movie and the polite lady who lives in the headphones tells me that she's shutting down because of low batteries.

It's much better being able to grab a couple of batteries from the recharger than to regret not having left the headphones on the charger the night before.

        • Being able to recharge the AA batteries in the headset would be nice. But yes I agree.

          "Powering on PS3 mode…Beep"

I don't get low battery warnings with the eneloops, probably low voltage protection cutting in before the headset can warn me.

Will these work to stream music over Bluetooth without powering on the base?

    • yes just turn on the headphones.. Headphones can be used without the base via bluetooth.

  • What size driver they have? 40mm?

Awesome headphones, awesome bargain. Nice find.

  • Thanks ordered one good price !

  • So they are wireless for ps3 but for 360 they plug into controller correct?

    • Yep

  • JB had a demo of this

I tried it and didnt think much of it. Must be the crap spiel on the demo they give or maybe the back ground noise, I dont know exactly

  • Bah bummer, i just had mine arrive yesterday, i thought i got mine at a special price (140$).

  • I really wanna get a set of headphones as we have a baby now and I must keep gaming.

I was looking at the new Sony Playstation Elite Pulse, Turtle Beach PX5 etc but I dont know much about headphones so I am a bit lost. I want something that will be fantastic and work with both 360 and ps3. I know the pulse ones one do PS3.

I though these TBPX5 sounded great but I read some post where some are saying they are average at best or they play up with a wifi modem

    • Far from average, its just the usual fanboi thing twisty. No doubt the recommended tritton over these when in truth there is no real difference at all. Both brands make great gear but these are cheap as chips - get 'em.

      • Thanks for that, just worred as my wireless modem router is in the same room as my PS3 & 360 and it seems I may get problems with interference

        • Nah it's simple, change the band that your modem/router is broadcasting on. Easily done through the settings. Otherwise don't put them within a foot of each other. First night I had it they were right next to each other and occasionally I had a bit of interference. I moved the PX5 base down a shelf and it was fine, never had a problem again and then a bit later I had to rearrange to make room for an Xbox and so I just changed the router settings. I think the PX5 runs on channel 6 but you'll have to check that.

        • Thanks!
