  • Hey manna, you may have missed it last week, but could I get an answer from you on this: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/94154#comment-1256881

Hi, sorry but it looks like most people already answered the question for me. The flavours and characteristics of the beans come are due to the region, the way they are processed and the way they are roasted etc and various other factors. Nothing is added to these beans, they are 100% Arabica There is no differene in carbs of beans. The main culprit for this is the milk and sugar that people add afterwards.

      Alright, thanks for the info.

But your last comment makes me wonder again …. ' the MAIN culprit for this is the milk and the sugar that people add afterwards'… so that indicates there IS a sugar content in the beans? What if a someone is not allowed to have any sugars? Can they drink your coffee?

Geeze, what's it gonna take? There are no carbs in coffee!!! The 'main' carbs Manna was talking about was probably because milk and sugar are the main, but not the only, additives that contain carbs that people may put into their coffee. Honey, for example, has carbs. If your diet is that strict that even a couple of carbs makes the difference then don't drink coffee. Water is an all round excellent drink that every doctor, nutritionist and diet known to man agrees is good for you, perhaps stick to that.

      • I'm guessing mannabeans doesn't know for sure - just that there is no added sugar. If there is, it would be negligible. Do a bit of googling - 'is there sugar in coffee beans?'

Jeez guys, get over it. i am just asking a question, then didn't get a conclusive answer, actually the answer made it even more unclear. I did bit of googling, but I just want to know what Mannabeans did to make his coffee taste like chocolate, flaunts red apple and cocoa notes.

Or sweet lively and bright with peach like acidity, rich creamy mocha, fresh orange and chocolatey finish, or smooth mellow coffee blend with high body and real complexities. sweet, musty, aggressive flavours, pungent, nutty roasted tones, and subtle caramel and tobacco notes.

Or how to create highly sophisticated aroma, with aromatic floral & citrus flavors, topped with silky body & sweet with a ruby grapefruit like acidity.

Just a couple of examples. If mannabeans "doesn't know for sure" he should say that.

You do a bit of googling and give me a conclusive answer, or just stay away from this conversation. i didn't get it by Googling and therefore I asked a connoisseur.

Congratulations - I award you rude bastard of the week! All that flavour talk is just like the BS that goes on in wine speak - it's just fanciful talk about flavour to distinguish one bean from the next. What they really want to say is "yep, that tastes like coffee" for each bean. :-)

      • I thought they soaked them in honey and chocolate and whatever other substance to get that flavour to them. I guess it's not like that. But really, is it worth all the negs? I was just asking the question guys.

The answer to your question is no coffee beans do not contain sugar!! As outlined in previous message the flavour profiles of the different coffees are naturally caused due to varying factors. Estate that the coffee is grown, altitude, method of processing(ie fully washed, monsooned, naturally pulped) also climate, degree and method that the green beans are roasted. Nothing is added to these coffee beans to generate flavours.

      • Okay. Just asking.

coffee gets your heart rate higher than normal and has a few components that help to burn fat, in the absence of milk and sugar I'd say its calorically negative.

      • I know that from coffee. But I was asking about the special flavoury types they're selling. But that mystery has been solved as well, the flavours are not really there, it's just the climate they're growing in (and other factors) that makes them taste like chocolate and caramel.
