  • Do you have a loyalty program? I've always found the pricepoint of mantra attractive, but will always choose a higher end hotel chain where I have status.

    • We have clubcusoon.com.au. It gives you instant rewards (instead of having to build up points. You'll receive a weekly email with deals only available at clubcusoon.com.au (email example: http://mymail.ezemsgs.com/em/message/email/view.php?id=90914…) Plus 5% off all rates at mantra.com.au, breakfree.com.au and peppers.com.au (and yes, it will work on this sale as well)

  • Came in $1 a night cheaper for a stay at Mantra on Bond compared with buying from Agoda (29 March for 3 nights).

However Agoda don't charge an additional 2% card fee and neither do they have a $200 non-refundable deposit, plus they have their various cashback deals… so all in it would be cheaper to get it through Agoda still (even without the cashback deal as the 2% card fee for me would be more than the $3 saving).

Don't get the drink voucher then though…

So its pretty much just the standard price you can get elsewhere already it seems?

Edit: For the example given this deal is much cheaper than Agoda pricing… so it pays to check both.

    • Well there's a circular there - Agoda & other such sites will just USE THE SALE rate, and top that with their commission/fee.

In that sense, it IS a decent sale relative to normal prices, just not exclusively through the channel of their website.

On another note, I've found Agoda/Expedia to be absolutely useless in general… most hotels have switched to the " best rate guaranteed" model, and I've always found the rate on hotel websites to be a dollar or so cheaper. Unless the accommodation sites are buying and holding inventory on their own balance sheets, I don't see why they are of any use

      • Just pays to check both, the 5-10% cashback you can get from many accommodation sites soon adds up to a decent discount I find.

        • Hmm that's probably similar in value to the loyalty points that you forgo (presuming you have a membership with the hotel), so fair point, good for certain users.
