  • Can't see this as value if you're traveling from interstate, maybe for those in the area..I mean how many times can u go if you're there for a wk or 5 days…

  • I did not go to the theme parks during my Jacobs Creek mystery flight, too expensive and not that great really. Had a better time at Australia Zoo.

  • I'm going to gc for the mystery flight deal too in a few weeks any suggestions on.what to do there?? Ill have an 8 month with me aswell thanks

    • Go to a theme park or the beach.

    • Theme park if you are into them. Australia Zoo is fantastic and about 2 hour drive from surfers paradise.
Beaches were a bit dirty and very choppy while I was there.
I heard the Bazaar in QT building has the best food, it is $69 per person. Did not make it there unfortunately.
Skywalk is OK, but very overpriced. Mt Tambourine has alot of bushwalks and nice cafes/galleries though and definately worth a day trip.

      • hi guys, thanks for the suggestions, i had a look at aust zoo, would like to go there but i think its too far a drive with a 8month old?
ill def do something like sea world, thats pretty close in GC and we've never been as well.

did you guys hire a car? i think ill hire a car with a baby seat as a taxi ride from the air port into GC would be like 50 - 60$ each way right?

        • Yes we hired a car, Hyundai i30 from Budget and it was around $130 for 3 days. Drove to Australia zoo and it was about 1 hour 50 mins, but definitely worth it and I think it is better than Taronga despite having less animals as it is very hands on (feed elephants, touch koalas etc).

        • did you manage to get a deal for Australia zoo admission? if there was a deal id consider going hahaha =)

        • Yeah I got a little bit of a discount for being NRMA member, I booked it at the 'experienceoz' office in surfers paradise and they printed out the tickets for us

  • Not too shabby, thanks.

  • hi How do you know you are going to GC when your mystery trip is in May? I thought they are going to tell you the destination 3 days prior to the departure date…

    • About a third of the original thread explains.

Basically use either virgin or jetstar and check your departure and return times and match it up to a major city. Simple :)

    • Here's hoping I'm right. I am leaving from Sydney airport at 12.10 pm. The only flights that leave at that time are to Gold Coast , Armidale and Port Macquarie. My flights home are at 12.05 and no flights leave from Port Macquarie and armidale at or near that time. If you go to the original jacobs creek post people have put up how they have found out. I used the Sydney airport departures list to start. My flights are with virgin but my mum is going to Melbourne and she is jetstar. My sister has very general times 12 pm departure 3 pm return and so could be going Melbourne or Brisbane. She is not an over planner like me so she is happy for pure mystery.

I'd turn around and go home if I got Armidale.

    Just thought it would add:

Costco sell MyFun vouchers at $15 off - $150 worth for $135
What I did was get 2 of these (total value $300) - and called MyFun up to replace my 2 vouchers with a single $300 voucher (as you can only use one voucher per transaction)

Therefore it cost me $300 for this as opposed to $330(savings of another $30)
