$64 (after coupon) Shipped HGST Touro 500GB USB3 7200RPM Portable Drive

30
crazy$5

UPDATE: I have added a new coupon since the ones from the previous deal have now expired. Use crazy$5 to save $5 off all orders over $50 ends Friday Midnight.

Just thought we would throw in a little option for anyone who is looking for something to get them over the $100 mark for the crazy$10 coupon. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/92986

These drives are 7200RPM so should give a much better transfer rate than the average drive.

Not bad Flingy, but OW are doing the Seagate 500GB USB3 for $48 this month - thats the price point to beat IMHO.

The VERY disturbing thing on that link is the review. A male, 35-44 years old using it to store episodes of home and away.

To be fair that was in store only and now shipped. So you would have to add on $10 roughly (not sure what OW charges for shipping tbh)

At that point we are talking $60 vs $70 for the extra $10 the significant speed increase will be worth it for some people. Obviously not everyone though.

It is kind of like the USB 3 Keys, there are some which are dirt cheap and some which are 2 to 3 times more expensive but significantly faster.

So…the bargain here is… pay more and get a slightly faster product…thanks, bought 10.

        • Well considering that is the principle of basically everything in history ever, yes I would say that is a fairly good explanation for why this is a deal.

By your logic any machine with an i7 can never be a deal because the i5 exists. But then you can never have a deal on an i5 because an i3 will always be cheaper. BUT wait then you have the celeron so nope no bargains on i3 machines…

The reality is if you want the fastest portable drive this is as far as I am aware the cheapest option out there.

Clearly the community did not agree though as we only got 2 pluses which is the whole point of the voting system. I am more concerned about the fact that this broke my streak of 6 straight posts hitting the front page though to be honest ;)

No, that's not my logic at all. It would be a deal if the i7 was the price of an i5. Your logic is that the i7 is a bargain simply because its faster, even though its more expensive.

        • Well no my logic is that if you want an i7 then the cheapest on is a deal.

I suppose it depends on how you define deal or bargain. I believe that if something within a category (i7, 500GB SSD, 7200RPM USB drive, etc) is cheaper than everything else within that category by enough of a margin then it is a deal. It is the "enough of a margin" part which is subjective though.

Take SSD's if someone were to offer a 500GB SSD for $200 that would be a bargain, but only if 500GB SSD's are usually $300, if they are always $200 it is not a bargain. Notice this has nothing whatsoever to do with the price of 250GB SSD's.

    Good deal flingshot.

I like Flingshot as much as everyone else here, but I linked the Officeworks one because its $21 cheaper - this is a bargain forum, y'know.
