These toys are not a replacement for a real vacuum cleaner.

It looks like it doesn't have a base station, you have to manually plug it in to recharge. For me that is a show stopper, its not as automated as other robot vacs.

its not as expensive as other automated robot vacs too. cant expect much for $99

Yeah I had the same thought, without a base station it'll just bounce around your house for 90 minutes and die. These things need to be going all the time to be worth your while

  • Guys Please check Kogan's Facebook page and decide whether you want to buy anything from Kogan..

Without looking at FB I suspect its full of negative comments. Problem is that unless you are forced to leave feedback (ebay) most people do not leave it unless they are angry with a poor experience. I eat out twice a week and only ever leave feedback if the restaurant is bad.

I have purchased several things from Kogan and had a good experience but I have never left feedback. If I ever had a bad experience and was the type of person that used FB, then I too would announce to the world how angry I was at Kogan and would proceed to throw my dollies out the pram.

      • its not about the experience. Its about the service you receive specially when something goes wrong with the product. There may be thousands of happy customers. But the question is do you want take the risk of loosing money and not getting the service you want. Facebook comments give you the ground to calculate the risks and whether you want to take that risk…

        • Facebook comments give you the ground to calculate the risks

how can reading a bunch of whiners on friendface give you fair and balanced grounds to calculate anything? EVERY company has customers who dont like them.

the problem is that cheap and stupid shouldnt go together. i love my 55" kogan and ive not seen anything comparable on the market for the price yet. i also loved my TPG and netspace unlimited ADSL over the last 10 odd years i was with the 2 of them….. but then again i have little need to use customer service caus i know what im doing and the few times i have needed it, because i know what im doing/talking about any issues are sorted quickly for me.

        • loved my $6 HD set top box (shipped) from Kogan.

        • I also loved my 55" 3D LED Kogan TV until it went blank without no picture just after two months of purchasing it. Yes it is cheap and it might not last forever. Thats not the issue here..the issue is once it breaks the time and the effort you have to make to get it repaired or get it refunded from Kogan. it took me 3 months to get a refund..and had to write to consumer affairs…Lucky you that your TV still working…but if one day this happens to you…you will realise how stupid you were…!!

I tend to say this about every robot vacuum bargain, but you get what you pay for.

I've seen far too many people buy a cheapo one then swear of them forever. We've had a Neato XV11 for a couple of years now, and it's still going great. (It also has fancy lasers that pathfind their way around the house)

If you're really serious about one, have a look at the Whirlpool forums. There's some good discussion.

Expect to pay $300+ for any one that's in anyway decent though. (Would love to be proved wrong)

  • Kogan always worries me when they only show one photo of a product. This for example shows no photo of the bottom of the vac - the part that will actually be doing the cleaning.

  • This looks almost identical to the one sold by Aldi last year for around $130. It wasn't much good.
