Damn, epic victory. That's quite the deal.
    Serious +1, for you OP.

  • I'd get something like this over Scanpan knives - http://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/products/mundial/bonza-9-pc-…

  • I got the 7 piece knife set, with the 6 steak knifes, for 150 from Kambo's (local retailer, not sure if there are outside of WA).

  • +2

Their "spectrum" (coloured) knifes are alright. But stay away from their non-stick pans. They cannot handle high-heat, and overheating is not covered by warranty. If you use them at high-heat, they will permanently stick and become useless. They even have the guts to say "high heat is unnecessary". Hey, don't tell ME how to cook!
    See http://www.scanpan.dk/Good%20advice/NonStick

    • Yep the pans suck the big one. I don't think I ever used high heat on mine and it lost its non stick.

I've gone back to $15 BigW non stick pans that I throw away every 12 months.

      • scaMpan are junk! few yrs i got rid of all of them.
however, if you've chipped or peeling issues, you should contact them and they will replace it at their cost.

    • Absolutely agree. We went through three ScanPan Saucepans (all cheerfully replaced under warranty which was good of them) before we got sick of the failures and decided to try something else. I think high heat is an issue but I also think the hardcore Finish Powerball Tablets don't help either as the non-stick coating fails and starts flaking off into the food. Not good. ScanPan even told us not to put them throug hthe Dishwasher even though they're classed as Dishwasher Safe… go figure!

    • Too right. Their frying pans are awful. Very low heat tolerance due to a really thin base. They're almost useless with gas cooking. Circulon have been fantastic for me. All my Circulon non-sticks have lasted years.

Not a huge fan of Scanpan either….. Ok, but not worth the premium. Maybe get something like Tefal if you don't want to get a no-name brand job. As an aside, I would recommend not putting any non-stick pan through a dishwasher as they will get damaged over time, so it will shorten their lives even if they do say it's ok. If you have to, fine, but at the very least season the pan with oil before using it again. Most will also say avoid the super high heats as yes it can also shorten the life of the pan coating…. If you want to use high heat, go cast iron or steel.

Personally I dislike the Spectrum knives….. The idea is interesting (coating the outside with non-stick) but they are super light and - for me - way unbalanced. Can understand why they were used for Junior Masterchef due to the weight, but for a grown up I prefer something with more weight in the handle. If you like them, petersorkensington always seem to have them on sale.

    • The spectrum knifes have a non-stick coating, which makes them relatively easy to slice with without things sticking to the knife.

  • meh, I think the Myer sale recently was better discounts.

Also a good place to check is http://www.petersofkensington.com.au

    House - 5 piece cookware $299. https://www.house.com.au/product/scanpan-impact-5-piece-cook…
    PoK - same set $149. http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Public/Scanpan-Impact-C…

    Just sayin'…

    • they aren't in this sale, hence why they are probably cheaper

  • I bought the 6 piece knife block recently for 119 from yourhomedepot. Price is not amazing but not bad. Great set of knives. I like my scanpan nonstick too. If you overheat any non-stick pan it will damage it.
