Crossover 27QD is around $360 delivered on Ebay and is pretty much the same panel as the Dell but just rated as A or A- whilst the Dell has an A+ panel.

So guessing from the negative votes the kogan 2560x1440 monitor is a no go. Can someone elaborate why as I was considering it for local warranty. As far as I know it has same lg panel as korean monitors with more input options. Only real difference I see is that it has 12ms vs 6ms of the korean monitors.

How can "pretty much the same panel" have such a significantly different colour representation? i.e. 1.07b vs 16.7m.

    • +1

lol, this isnt a cheap b grade 6bit eIPS, or even an A+ grade 6bit eIPS like most of the dell ultrasharps.
It is a near pro quality A= grade 10 bit sIPS panel with the kind of quality needed for design, video editing, photo editing etc at a pro level, with a 3 year advance replacement warranty, shipping included. Horses for courses, for what this is, it is a great price

Great deal. Worth the extra $100 (when compared to the frequent ~$550 deals) compared to the U2713 considering the better color reproduction.

    • So the u2711 is a better option because of the 1.07 billion colours than the 16.7million colours of the U2713? But I heard the less aggressive coating helps a lot in the U2713. I am now confused which one to get.

      • Depends on your needs. I would say unless you know for a fact you need a wide gamut display, you don't. The U2713 does a great job of representing sRGB which is all most people need. In fact wide gamut can be detrimental unless you understand how to work with it.

        • Well would just be used as a gaming monitor so don't need it for professional purposes like photography or video editing. I am also considering the samsung S27A850 pls monitor as its cheaper.

        • +1

In that case it won't make much difference. The main thing you will notice for gaming is the higher res (which is awesome) which they all have. I think the 2713 has faster response time which might make it slightly better for gaming but I don't think it's a huge deal. IMO get the cheapest (assuming they all have the same resolution).

        • Thanks for your help. Will have to research a bit more before I fork over $674.

        • Don't worry about this Dell U2711 or the U2713 for gaming.
The fastest Dell 27" screen ideal for gaming is the Dell S2740L. No contest.
          It's also cheaper.

Well I have the Samsung S27A950 120hz and that feels fast but after seeing my friends iMac 27" and saw how crisp 2560x1440 looks I just have to get something with same resolution. My monitor is ok but just looks so pixelated @ 1080p.

        • Put the pipe down, your comparing a 1080p monitor with a 1440p monitor, the S2740L is cheaper for a reason, is very low PPI. No contest.

FYI, this 2711 is $630 every day of the week on the premier member site, be nice to your friendly neighbourhood IT Manager and nab one.

        • The input lag on the S2740L is far superior than on the U2711 and 1080p on a 27" still looks nice for multiplayer gaming.

If you want 1440p and pretty good input lag then I would consider the Asus PB278Q over the U2711.

      • just take the aggressive coating off like I did. So worth it. Go on void that warranty you know you want to.

    • Sure, it's worth the extra $100… if you have a need for top-of-the-line colour reproduction. Which most people don't.

  • Wanted: U2711 Second hand…….. I want another one but can't afford brand new.

    • they were $450 refurbished on the dell outlet a few weeks ago, not uncommon to see them listed once or twice a month

      • rgr, will check it out. i wonder does that inc delivery?

Meh, usual Dell 'sale' price. Nothing out of the ordinary.

  • Gonna have to suck it up and buy one of these one day.

  • OP, just so you know, M on the end of a Dell monitor model # denotes the cheaper 'mainsrtream' models with 6bit eIPS panels rather than pro grade 10bit sIPS

    • Ok cool thanks for the info. Learning a bit tonight :)

  • japik, if you want the U2713HM just wait, i've seen it at 30% off a lot since its release.

As for this deal, for a recently superseded model, its not that great of a deal I think.

I'm waiting to see what Dell's sale price of the U2713H is gonna be, then I'll decide between the U2713HM and the U2713H…

Both have usb 3.0 which is the main upgrade i'm after anyway lol

    • Yes now I am considering only the U2713H as it seems like a better monitor overall. Hopefully it goes down to this price in future and Ill be all over it.
