I've not used these, so I can't comment, but for the price they look good.

But selling at JB HiFi for $77:

So if you're willing to wait a week (which I think you should for most impulse purposes) you can get them $8 cheaper.

      $8?
great alternative but its $15 dollars more expensive

      • +2

        Well… Trade $15dollars for warranty?

        • Yeah true, but they come with a two year warranty, even if its a uk warranty, it still covers the item,

good brand Sennheiser, but these are just beats/dr dre style teen headphones

    • +1

      No they're not.
Have a listen to them at Myer Sydney City, top level.
These are amazing for their price, I've been waiting a while for these to come down.
They're like a fusion of the HD228s (good version, not the second batch ones) and ATH-M50s, delivers good quality sound and warm bass (like the ATH-M50S) by actually creating the bass not the 'punchy' bass type which sounds like energy slamming into your head (a bit exaggerated but that's how I would describe 'punchy' bass, which is nice but means you can't turn up the volume very high without your ears hurting).
Like the ATH-M50s, the bass in these are warm and gentle while powerful.

These are also very comfortable, the only con I can think of is the plastic may feel a bit… flimsy and it will look a bit cheap, but for their SQ, I'd definitely recommend them, especially at this price.

p.s. I don't agree with the headphonesfordummies.com's comments about them being punchy, you will definitely hear the bass, but it's not eardrum slamming (like HD228s/sony's bass emphasised headphones/beats)
To the O.P., thanks and used your ref link :)

yeah there dime a dozen equalized pop/rnb style bass headphones. if thats what your after then the price is way better than a lot of the other overhyped brands. each person is going to have their own preference of sound.

        • 'Xcuse me miss, have you heard the sound from this particular model of headphones before?
If not, please don't class them into beats/dr dre style 'teen' headphones.

Good sound but cord on the Sennheisser is poor quality and likely to give out after a short period. Wire is too thin.
I've had two pairs and wire has broken at various places along length on multiple occasions - especially at plug connection. (And I'm not rough with the headset)
If you have enough patience to replace plug and resolder connections at both ends of the cord then these are ok.

I'm on my 3rd pair of Sennheiser HD228s (replaced by Sennheiser Australia)
Seems that the lower end of Sennheiser's plugs are pretty prone to failure :|
I replaced mine with a solder iron + $2.15 golden plug from Jaycar :)
Followed a guide on youtube. Just got to be careful with the solder resin it doesn't drip everywhere.

  • Hi Guys

This maybe a silly question. But going on a long haul flight soon.
Got these recently due to OzBargins! But i'm wary about sound isolation.
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89827

Would the Sennheiser be alot better for travel?

    Cheers

    • These are circumaural, their noise isolation is quite good, and they are very comfortable. They actually aren't too heavy due to the 'flimsy' feeling plastic headband, so that's a plus (coming from a ATH-M50 owner, then again, the M50s have virtually no headband padding and are pretty heavy)

      • Cheers

So in your eyes, I should purchase for a 12 hour flight, over my current Zoros?

        • I haven't listened to the Zoros, so I can't make a justified comparison or comment..
I would recommend these for $63 though

  • For anyone interested I got JB Hifi in George St (Sydney) to price match these today against http://www.iibuy.com.au/sennheiser-hd419-around-the-ear-vers… they didn't even check their site etc. he just did them for $69 not quite as cheap but I was put off by the 3-5 week time to dispatch on Amazon

  • I would be much more interested in the slightly higher end model like the 439 or 449

  • +1

Having used these for a bit they are fine for the price they aren't amazing but I've heard headphones twice the price that aren't as good, good noise isolation for the office and as most reviews say the cable is the weak point..
