40cm Pedestal Fan. $10 at Bunnings

380

Went looking for a pedestal fan due to mine dying last night. Found this pallet special at Bunnings. Fan is the same as every other cheap-ass 40cm fan on earth but at $10 it's certainly the cheapest I've ever seen. I bought 2 in case the first one dies :)

        • +5

      Very cool deal

Big W has the adobe branded ones for $12, didn't think this was a deal.
Just as good as these imo(got 1 of each next to each other)

    • +3

      adobe make fans now? :O

      • +4

I think he meant abode. :)

These fans seem to ast about 2 years of light use. The motor in most recent purchase has just died so I'll probably grab a replacement this weekend.

    • i got mine about 2 years ago (it was $8 I think). It still works perfectly fine after these years.

I wouldn't trust this Moretti brand with a 100 foot barge pole. Bunnings were selling fan heaters under the same brand name a while back that were catching fire. Just Google Moretti and Fire.

  • These fans are SOOOooo cheap and nasty.

But they are SOOOooo cheap - how the hell can they manufacture, import, warehouse, deliver, get profit, etc for $10?

    • +1

I doubt they make much of a profit, if at all. Not every item in every store turns a profit - many are just to get you in the door.

For $10 though, you can't go wrong. Ok, it might break after one or two summers, but that's not bad for a $10 fan. Cheap? Yes. Nasty? I suppose. But it gets the job done - it blows air.

  • They've been 2 for $20 for awhile. $10ea is even better :)

  • +1

    $10 at masters too! :P

  • Standard price? I bout one from big w for $10 2 years ago and it is still going strong

    • bought*

  • if you're close to masters, they have it for the same price just different brand with 2yrs warranty.

Bought one of those from Bunnings last year. Whenever I use it the room smells like used motor oil. Avoid.

    • You sure it was the fan?

    • I got 2 … mine don't have that smell?

I did get the 33cm earlier version though.

      • it is the fan for sure. just used it again the other day. you only notice if you keep the room closed, walk out to fresh air, then come back in you'll smell it right away. quite noticeable..

        and yes, strange!

work at bunnings. has been 10 dollars for as many years as I can remember. Most melbourne stores have sold out or are low on stock. Expecting shipment feb sometime. But i doubt theyll re stock before the end of summer. Keep receipt for full refund if faulty

  • +1

if you buy 2 and write Dyson on them, you'll a fan multiplier :p

This deal's going to BLOW you away…

A tenner for a fan? Schmancy

I got my pedestal fan out of the area in our apartments where the bins are kept - along with a little occasional table and an ironing board (with no cover… boo). Snuck down in the dead of night and saved the lot from hard rubbish collection.

The Lovely said I should post my little freecycle 'trevor trove' to OzB and declare that "stocks were limited at the bins: 1 per customer". She's slightly allergic to my nocturnal bin-diving: no idea why.

I find this comment to be creepy and somewhat disturbing. Especially in conjunction with the profile picture.

I had one of these, it seemed to suck air in instead of push it out like a range hood…

    • +3

just have it facing backwards then.

    • +1

      $10 for a range hood….BARGAIN!!

    • +3

I think you assembled the fan blade the wrong way. Its ok, you can try again

      • +2

Shit that makes lots of sense:-/

        • Your welcome :)

  • Good to know they seem to be back in stock. I bought 4 of these a couple of weeks ago and wanted another about 10 days ago but they were sold out (Sydney - Mascot and Randwick). So cheap, even if I need to replace them all for $50 total every year I reckon it's worth it. I doubt fans that are twice the price are much better.

  • +1

As others have said Kmart Adobe fans are $12 all year….

  • That's 20% more expensive!!!! OMG :P

  • Bought a cheap fan last night from masters. Set it up. plugged it in and it doesn't work! FMD
