One of the best eReaders available on the market atm. Slightly better than Paperwhite imho. local stock, smaller, lighter, supports epub among many other formats, micro sd, etc.

I bought it today by price matching at OW. Kobo glo for $131.10 plus a sleepcover for $30.40, total $161.50

With built-in Wi-Fi, you get easy access to nearly 3 million eBooks right from your Kobo Glo. There's an eBook for every reader! Can't decide? • You're lucky to get the price match at 131.10 as they usually include postage in the price.

Comes to $152.25 at Harris Tech. 5% less = $144.64

    • I went to OW in North Ryde. Harris Tech is literally right next door. That's probably why.

      • plus the HT guys are in a dungeon and i find them pretty unhelpful sometimes.

  • +1

I've got a paperwhite. It's fantastic, as long as you don't mind the Amazon store or converting books. The light is meant to be better than the kobo and more even, but I'd imagine kobo is a great device too.

  • Price match is not a deal. Neither is back in stock a deal.

Harristech has been selling at this price for ages.

  • I had a few customers who actually purchased a few of these and they said that it wasn't compatible with Windows 8. They went back to jb-hifi where the salesman tried to find the relevant software for these to work on but who couldn't find it.

Not sure if they've made an update though by now, this was about 3 weeks ago so just a heads up guys.

    • You don't need to use the Kobo software with these. Just plug it into a computer, and you can easily manually add books. The Kobo software is slow and the only bad thing about Kobo ereaders.

  • is it really better than kindle paperwhite. anybody tried both care to comment plz. thanks.

    • I've tried both, very little difference. Main points where they differ are:
      - File formats, Kobo accepts .epub, Kindle uses its own closed format.
      - Size, Kobo Glo is slightly (although almost not noticeably) smaller and lighter.
      - Light, the Kindle's light doesn't seem to have the blue tinge that the Kobo has
      - Colour, Kobo comes in a choice of colours
      - Price, Kobo Glo tends to be much cheaper, and available in Australia
      - Store, if you buy books on the device it's self, the Amazon book store is bigger and cheaper than the Kobo one; although Kobo is more likely to accept files purchased elsewhere.

I personally prefer the Kobo, mainly because it supports .epub format, which is also used by iBooks on the iPad.
That and being easily available in Australia (at a lower price than the Kindle).

  • Officeworks/HT are the same company right? Should be no problem price matching w/o del. You can order from HT online and pick up from Officeworks (select stores)

I price-matched no questions asked in Brisbane OW about 3 weeks ago.

Did work at OW many years ago and they had a HT kiosk for us to order stuff in and we price-matched with them all the time.

  • Yes they are both owned by Wesfarmers so it's silly for them to not adjust price automatically

  • Just thought i'd send an update.

I wanted the silver one, but OW stores do not stock. (online only)
So rang the 1300 number from OW site.

They said they would match the price but not the extra discount. (i.e. $138(Glo) + $32(case))
Saying that HT is thier own company, hence will not reduce as per their price matching policy.

I said, there is nothing in the t&c's re HT, and hence would not accept that.
They went and talked to manager, waited about 15 mins, and woohoo 5% off.
    i.e. same cost as OP.

Getting it delivered for free to a OW store.

    Thanks OP.
