Toshiba Notebook Extended Warranty @Estore - 3 Years Metro Onsite NBD $33 + $15 Ship (to GC)

100

RRP $199 - http://www.shoptoshiba.com.au/p-1759-3-year-nbd-on-site-serv…

Great for anyone with a current under factory warranty toshiba notebook and wish to extend it.

Story:

Purchased P840/00S from HN Tweed heads yesterday ($998, 24 months interest free + $300 cashback)
Offered HN warranty for $270 (cough), dropped to $199. Still not interested as aware of Toshiba's extended warranty plans & costs.

Google search shopping revealed the above reduce to clear price at Estore.

Making the assumption that the Gold Coast is classed as a metropolitan area as not clearly defined.

Sorry don't believe this works. Its still up to the discretion of the manufacturer. Ive contacted consumer affairs regarding korean brands before and they dont do/cant do a thing. These articles are just written by people with no idea other than filling up space for a piece

The article is 100% correct, especially this part: "People do this because they are ignorant of the consumer law and many traders aren't aware as well."

Having said that, it's going to be a lot easier to claim replacement, etc. after the standard warranty period has expired with an extended warranty.

It's all very easy for a 'reporter' to write an article telling you what the law is, but if your laptop or TV breaks down after 18 months you might have to spend 6 months dealing with the consumer affairs and the manufacturer trying to get it repaired under the 'implied warranty' after the standard warranty expires. You're stuck without a working product for months trying to sort it out. That's if the consumer affairs actually bother taking any action, which they probably won't.

Anybody who's dealth with the law knows there are one set of laws for one person, and another set for other people. It all depends who you talk to, and who's prepared to take on your case.

  • Huh, I had the exact same story as you, except when I said no he tried pushing a free copy of Norton on top of the extended warranty. Thanks for the heads up.

  • how do you get $300 cashback?

    Hi
Just wondering have you brought p840-00s or p840-00H as p840-00s shows as 887 per the following link, HV in VIC stores told me p840-00s is not eligible for 300$ cash back as it's price is below 900.
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/toshiba-satellite-p840-00s-la…
    Please confirm

    • You are right. Had seen online as well for $887. In store, the price was $994. Cashback eligible!

On a side note, the notebook has failed (wont even boot to bios)… Taking it back to them today

  • Expired….
It's back to $199 now - make me wonder if it was a pricing error in the first place.

  • Mine has been confirmed and despatched. So I should get it tomorrow.

    • Did you receive yours? I'm still waiting! Advised of delays…

      • I still haven't received mine yet either….

      • Sorry … was away the past 2 months …

Nope I did not get it too and I got an email saying they could not get item and advised to change to 3 years offsite for $20 more.

Now really suspect it is a pricing error.
