  • Alternatively there's Norton 360 2013 from HN for $50 with a $50 cash back = free

Better than Norton Internet Security 2013.

You couldn't pay me $5 to install Norton, and this deal is proof.

    • +7

I'm sure someone else will gladly take that $5. That's like 5 large frozen cokes at hungry jacks.

    • +1

Tough luck as you actually have to install it, so stop moaning.

    • Ill gladly take it for a program that is more efficient than windows 8 built in solution.

Mt Gravatt is my local OW & shows $35 online. Prices at 2000 & 4000 PC show $44!

    • Might just be a local offer then, waiting til tomorrow where more people will check in with their local officeworks.

      • Sorry looked at wrong product - same $35 price elsewhere. Product SYM2013IS1

  • +1

    Yes available everywhere.

  • So you can in fact make money for being an OzBargainer like those discussed in the forum.

  • so if i have 2 computers that currently have an auto subscription that cost me approx $90 for an auto renewal which covers 3 computers (and they will let me cancel within 60 days) is it worth cancelling it to get my $90 back and then having to buy this twice (one for each computer, one for me and one for hubby) and having to install it etc????

    • 90 + (35x2) + 40x2 = $100 in the green. You then have to determine if this $100 is worth your time and effort to cancel/refund/buy/install.

      Few points:
-Make sure 100% sure you can refund for an auto renewal
-You don't have to reinstall if its the latest version of norton internet security, just type in the product key.

      • so i would have to call up to cancel on monday (you ccan only do it by ringing) then put the product key in. are there any ones with rebates that will do more than 1 pc? thanks for your help. $100 is a lot of money to me. 100 frozen cokes :)

      • thanks for your help. i rang them to cancel the auto subscription one. they offered me half my money back without having to cancel it. I am up $45 now and the only effort it took was one phone call and no stuffing around with installing or uninstalling.

Since about 2010 version norton anti virus has been very light compared to say the 2007/8/ versions.

Internet security is similary light compared to 7/8/.

If you have a "test" hard drive or spare "test" pc, try the trial version of nav or nis 2012/13.

Check out the resource usage, you may get a big suprise.

    • well the versions iI used in 2007/8 were enough to put me off from using Norton products again for the rest of my life, so I'd say those were some big mistakes they made back in 07 that probably led droves of long time Norton users off to competing products. I'd been using Norton since 2002 btw.

Just watch it ppl, claims close Jan 14 ie Monday by 11.59 pm AWST

    • And it has to be installed before you submit the online claim

  • So to make $5, you have to drive down to the store, pick it up, install it, go through the redemption process, then be out of pocket $40 for however long it takes for them to send you the cash back? If you're not planning on actually using this "steller" product, you'd be better off working for 20 minutes at a minimum wage job.

Add to that the lost productivity by installing it, slowing your PC down by 1 second per working minute for 1 year, roughly 35 hours @ $15 = $525 lost productivity per year.

So while you might make $5 initially, you will actually be out of pocket $520 by this time next year…

        • not everyone uses win8 defender or even win8 for that matter. It would be more fair to compare it to a commercial product instead of a free one. Such as bitdefender going on sale for $20 for example.

If Norton is giving a hefty cash back and OW is pricing it such that they need to clear out loads and loads of them (as iI can see in the photo) so much so that you're being paid to take it away, then I'd take it as a sign of desperation on both their parts. The public perception of Norton has to be dire for situations like this.

Can we get it anaywhere online for that price? Like the idea of money in the bank but not in the area

    • And enter details for cashback by 14th? That's speedy delivery!

      • -2

Ever hear of digital delivery?? Duh…

        • Yes. Ever read T&C?
Cashack only available on physical retail packs like these. Its all been discussed before.
          Doh!

  • Too bad it wouldnt deliver on time

  • There was a time that I would have never contemplated using Norton anti-virus products. Now I would not use anything else. If you don't try the latest version now that they have listened to users and vastly improved their product, then stay with the Brand that you use. I won't be changing anytime soon.

  • can we get 10 of it to make $50 profits?? any limitations per person??

    • the question any true "ozbargainer" should ask :P

  • Nice to see some supportive comments for NIS for a change. Just to offset the paranoid Norton haters. What I really like about Norton (apart from the fact that I've never had an undetected intrusion in the ten years I've been using it!!) is the quality of online support available when you have a product issue. Norton rocks!! ps I run it on a variety of Intel machines, even my eight year old Pentium 4 desktop barely notices the load. Now Windows Update, that's another story altogether…. and Windows Explorer…..well, don't bother!!

Hmmm… no doubt that Norton has probably picked up its game from previous resourse hog versions, and the fact that they are basically paying people to try their product again shows that they've lost a lot of market share to free competitors offering the same thing (and no ongoing subscription either).

Good idea from marketing department, get people hooked and relying on a product for 'free', then charge through the eyeballs for continued 'protection' later.

No thanks Norton. Why pay for something with you when I cant get it for free with others (and it remains free).

  • buy out all their ample stock and make hundreds?

in all seriousness though, if you order it online you will miss the deadline for the rebate because that's due tomorrow.

  • Damn it..Why couldn't I have seen this earlier lol.
