Does the SD Card come with preloaded games?

    • +2

According to one of the reviews, it comes with some, but not that many. It's better to use your own SD card and download the roms yourself.

    • +1

Dont use the preloaded sd card.
Theres a few subreddits and reviewers that are oretty helpful

Damn might actually bite at this price

  • is this the new go to for these type devices?

    • There's too many options and different considerations for this to be 'the new go to', but this is probably one of the most popular/recommended 'cheaper' devices at the moment.

  • No dela on Anbernic 40xx v … very inclined to buy that.

  • It's a great device for the price and form factor.

It struggles with PS1 games at 2x resolution. 1x is not a problem.

Most PSP games also suffer from low frame rates.

I'm still mostly happy with it.

  • Plays n64 titles, it's what I am after!

  • Any recommended titles for netplay?

Might pick up another for 2 player games

    • Can this one do 2 players games like Contra?

      • +1

        it can do netplay

@RichardL Is R36s a good entry point to retro gaming?

    • +1

I've got it but screen is so small for non GB/A systems

      • Which one do you recommend? I am leaning towards Anbernic RG40xx V but there isn't any good deal on it.

How does the one in deal and RG 40xx h compares? Any idea?

        • +1

I just bought this to play ps1/psp so I think that answers your question. I dunno about that other device though

        • What do you want to play? Do you care about portability? Do you have a price in mind?

But R36S is a great little device that you should be able to get it sub $40 delivered from Aliexpress.

    • +1

It's one of the cheapest option for entry into retro handheld.

https://aliexpress.com/item/1005008583927701.html G350 seems to be the new cheap entry point

      • Retro Game Corps just made a video on the G350.

The R36S is still cheaper (at least on AliExpress). You can get a R36S for ~A$35, whereas the G350 is still ~A$55.

  • Whats the screen size like on these. By the specs, its less than switch lite let alone the original switch. For older game emulations that may not be so much of a problem.

    • 4.9" screen.

Form factor would be similar to a PSP Vita.

  • Slightly off-topic…

Is there a way to get games like Galaga legally, these days - other than having to buy the physical ROMs and PCB? I'm not judging - just asking as I'd like to play it legally. I bought on Apple TV (Galaga, DigDug & Pacman) played it once, then next time I came back it had disappeared and couldn't find it in the Apple store any more (this seems to be common).

  • Ordered it for $65 at the last deal. Hoping for 30% Cashrewards.

    • who is giving 30% cashback?

      • +1

Cashrewards was the other day for new AliExpress accounts.
