Belkin N300 Wireless Modem Router $75 Officeworks in-Store and Online

20

Was looking for a good ADSL2+ modem router and this is the best deal I could find. $75 for the Belkin N300 Enhanced modem router. JB has it for $99, and it's roughly $120 or more in other stores. Just picked it up from Fitzroy store, they have plenty in stock. The aisle price was marked $124 but it scanned as $75. Lots of bluetooth headsets and usb drives on sale as well.

Specifications:
2.4GHz
Perfect for data and web traffic
Pre-set security
Wi-Fi Protected Setup™
64/128 WEP encryption
1x WAN
4x LAN

My first bargain :)

  • Just to let people know, this isn't an ADSL2+ Modem. It is just a normal wireless N router with 4 ethernet ports.

    Mixed reviews on Amazon too.

Sorry, I believe it is a mistake on the labelling on Officeworks' part.

    • No mate it's a wireless adsl2+ modem and router combo.

      • Ok, I had a quick look at the Belkin Website. It is very hard to say which one it is as there is 2 versions of the N300 both look the same.

I apologize if the one you have is an ADSL Modem/Router, just without any part numbers to verify which one, I had to go by what I could review and find. The details on the Officeworks page is not clear and the only information that tells you it is a Modem is in the title, no where else in the detail.

        • I got it connected and running. It plugs in directly to the adsl cable and then transmits the internet connection via wifi or lan cable. Definitely an adsl2+ modem and router :)

I don't trust Belkin at all, stay away from these ones.
And yes its only a router not a modem.

you know what for $75 u can get a lot better.

For starters some of the TP-Link routers have dual band+ gigabit +hardware NAT and a whole lot more. Not to mention they are a lot more reliable than the belkin routers that need a restart every second day.

    • I've had a TP link router modem in my house for the past 2 years. It worked fine in the beginning but it has become very slow lately.

Also this Belkin one comes with LIFETIME warranty.

Yes.. "lifetime" warranty. Very vague term that is, have to read the fine print to see exactly what that means. Even then it doesn't mean much to be honest.

You can wrap it up anyway you like, Belkin aren't what they use to be (which they were never much to begin with haha).

Just to make sure.. You know "lifetime" does not mean forever (like 20 years), right?
Usually it is more like as long as it is still produced. When it is discontinued it is called end of life.. and so your "lifetime warranty" ends too

        • Guy walks into store in 20 years, " hey can you replace my faulty modem son " reply " modem what's that? " "store what's that? " " do you want fries with that? "

You can also get it from our favorite retailers here

  • does this model include life time warranty?

  • +2

Billion 7700N is only $60 bucks if you want a reliable modem router. But if you go heavy on P2P, torrents and Usenet etc. then look into the 7800NL for $100.

  • I bought the exact same model from OW after I got them to price-match Umart, which was selling it for $39. Umart allows pickup from store.

    http://www.umart.com.au/newindex28.phtml?id=10&bid=7&sid=691…

Final price worked out to $37.

    • Wow, you're very lucky as that is an older model and it's only a standalone router.

  • I just needed a router modem asap for my new house and couple of mates who use Belkin have never had any issues, so went with it. I've had bad experiences with d-link and netgear in the past (netgear is the worst). Time to give Belkin a chance :P

I know lifetime doesn't mean that literally but in 2-3 years NBN will be working in most places, so if the warranty covers it till then, I can't complain.
