Screen coating on this isn't great in light and lgs next gen G5 and C5 are really impressive compared to this last gen. If you can wait get the LG 5 series. If you are desperate this is still a good tv but I would get the qd oled Samsung over this.
Just as the G4 and C4 were compared to the G3 and C3. But are they worth the extra 2-4k? No.
Not really. It's using new panel technology that improves color and brightness. It's a massive leap in brightness aswell getting almost 2500 nits in a 2% window I'm guessing with peak at 4000 nits in a 1% window I think. G3 and G4 share panel technology and can do 1500 nits in a 2% window making this the jump from the 3 to 4 not that impressive.
Also I'm not saying buy it at retail. If you can wait get it when it's on sale next year. some people don't need to upgrade now but just want a deal even though this doesn't seem like a massive deal tbh.
You are right. I was planning on G4 with those tempting prices but will wait for G5 for exactly the same reason
All claimed figures. Real world tests will come nowhere near this.
@Maths Debater: 4000 nits with vivid mode and 2500 nits with calibration on the G5 compared to the 1500 with calibration on the G4. There are tests on YouTube from very reputable sources. Still a very impressive upgrade. Edit here are the sources. https://youtu.be/gKFsPeRVqaY

Deeper blacks, better color and higher brightness. MLA wasn't great tbh
$3624 direct from Samsung with a trade up and the 45% sale code. Can probably get $100 loyalty code through chat and 5% using app etc.
5% first time app purchase only applies to mobile products now
Yeah that’s a deal, $4400 is not.
Where is the sale code?
Opened up the samsung members app on my phone and the code was in there. Possibly targeted.
BUYER BEWARE - 77-inch variant is WOLED and NOT QD-OLED like they are on ths 55 and 65 inch models. Not sure how Samsung are getting away with this as your not getting what you pay for. Better off going the LG models if you are considering 77-inches as your getting WOLED anyway but with Dolby Vision and DTS support
Yep 100%
I think it depends more what you are coming from, and how much you are paying. at $2500, this is a bargain despite being woled IMO.
I have this model from the last deal. yes it's WOLED but I personally think if the price comes in decently less than the C4 it's worth it. great screen still and I'm very happy with it. I personally paid $2922 so perhaps at this price it's worth waiting for a better deal.
Now that’s a very good deal, how did you get it for the price?
Recent Deal on here with the $550 bonus for tradein, just traded in a broken free TV :)
Been much cheaper recently and will continue to drop
I don't think it's a good deal considering the recent price drops. FWIW I am getting my LG 77 inch G4 delivered on Friday, bought for $4150 earlier this week through CBA EPP, pretty happy with the deal I got. I know the prices would drop further with the new series being launched but I needed a TV urgently.
$4150 is incredible, care to share a receipt?
Wow so jealous, incredible price!
Great deal! This was the best tv i looked at when shopping… But price was well above my level this time… Ended up with the C855 TCL and very happy still.
How does it go with sport? Do you stream kayo over Apple ?
Paid $2545 less than a month ago direct from Samsung, so this is definitely not a good deal
My S90C 65" is amazing.. shame that this larger one isn't also QD-OLED.
As noted by many commenters above, the best way to get a sharp price on this model is to stack deals via the Samsung site.
This is probably best explained in this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/893385 - but it isn't possible to get that exact combo anymore.
I ordered recently stacking three deals:
- a 10% off code from Samsung chat
- a trade in of an old TV
- 20% when bundling with a soundbar per https://www.samsung.com/au/offer/tv-soundbar-deals/#bundle-a…
This came in much cheaper than OP's deal, though slightly more expensive than the deal I linked above (but did come with a soundbar for that price).
I just purchased one two weeks ago, and it has died. Will not be taking the repair option.
Is there such thing as an affordable OLED?
The tech has been out for over a decade now (shout out to the Vita) and it's still incredibly expensive for the size (even a 42" is over $1000).
Wanted to buy in for years now but its like LG and the like have a stranglehold on the screen tech still after all this time. I feel like we got cheaper options for CRTs and LCDs much quicker than during those techs lifetimes.
$3899 at Samsung Education store right now ($3704 with 5% off via app).
