That's pretty old tech for that money

    • What is the latest tech for mesh router? And recommend?

        wifi 7 triband?

      • IMHO,  "old" is not an issue. For wifi mesh, I would prefer tri-band routers, so one band can be used for backhaul.

        • I prefer wired backhaul

          • @Sage222: Definitely. But that is luxury in many cases.
I tried same-band wifi, dedicated-band wifi, and powerline, and I am currently using powerline. Will change to wired when I can do the wiring.

These are good value for money if you want coverage across your home but just don't expect to be maxing out your line speed.

    • Are there wall mounts available? Got a use case where one needs to go in a hallway where there is a powerpoint, but need a nice wall bracket.

    • Im not so sure about this so sorry if im wrong but these can do 1201 mbps on the 5ghz band. Isnt 1000 mbps one of if not the highest nbn fttp plans availabe? How would this not max out your line speed?

      • That's the sum of all the speeds across all bands the router can use, not the speed of any individual band or device.

        • isnt the sum of all speeds across both bands for this router 1800mbps? 1201mbps on the 5ghz band + 574mbps on the 2.4ghz band

          • @CatmanAintDead: Maximum theoretical speed on a wired connection. There's no chance you'll achieve it wirelessly, unless you somehow have the perfect circumstances such as direct line of sight, high tech clients, etc. I had this mesh system with a gigabit connection and came nowhere near it. I didn't test a wired connection, however. It's all marketing.

I was at Harvey Norman Chadstone yesterday, where the NIGHTHAWK Mesh WiFi 6 System (2-pack) was priced at $248.

    • Good find. Same price at Amazon. At least you get a bit more acceptable bandwidth.

  • I am using 1000mb plan( 700mb ) from MORE

I am currrent using the 1st version of google wifi, giving me the speed of 550 only, and on my second floor giving me 200MB speed.

Do I need to upgrade my router to use the max speed?

  • If your bargain hunting. Xiaomi be5000

  • Also D-Link $99 2 unit option: Dlink Eagle Pro Mesh
