    No update here yet

    Paid via Afterpay.
It went through successfully - it even states the item description (Brixx power rack) paid for.

    Let’s see how it goes

    Just got email

We’re getting in touch regarding your recent order for a Brixx Power Bench or Leg Press.

Unfortunately, we discovered that there had been a temporary error on our website, with an incorrect price at the time you placed your order.

During this period, there were an increased number of orders resulting in more orders placed than the stock on hand. This resulted in the system freezing and orders not processing in full.

We want to assure you that you have not been charged for this order. You may have noticed a temporary hold for the order amount during the attempted transaction, which will be released.

As the issue was picked up by our teams, we prevented the orders from processing to ensure customers were not charged and did not receive an email confirming purchase.

If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact Bunnings Customer Support on [email protected].

We appreciate your patience and apologise for the error.

Well actually it has been charged - money has gone through via paypal

      • same.

      • Mine has been charged too. I replied to the email with a screenshot of the charge from afterpay.

Edit- Just got a refund email from Afterpay.

      • same

Money has definitely been taken, curious to see how this plays out.

    • -2

Complete bs. Just say there was a pricing error ffs . Maybe trying to get out of something if they mention error

      • They did say pricing error

Same email to me too, I replied with:

I paid via PayPal so I have definitely been charged

  • +1

    Paid via Afterpay.
    Order got cancelled.

    A response from Afterpay:

As you may have heard from Bunnings Warehouse, they were unable to fulfill your order and so a full refund has been issued to you. If you'd like to place another order, please visit the merchant's website or contact the Bunnings Warehouse directly so they can confirm your order status.

Your refund has been processed and this confirms that your obligation has been cancelled. The following refund will take up to 10 days to be paid back to your payment method, depending on your financial institution. If you have made a donation with this order, this amount is non-refundable.

  • Afterpay refund processed, ah well, no harm no fowl

Got the BS email from Bunnings, have absolutely been charged (balance isn't pending on the card).
Off to customer support to find out what they going to do about it.

This was worded badly. It implies that the increase in orders was what "resulted in the system freezing" and also that there was at least some stock to fulfil orders before the stock run out or before the system "froze". Seems like a glaring issue with their marketplace either way that it cannot handle stock allocation and that it shits the bed under even a small load.

Happy to have subscribed to this thread on Friday, it's been fun following developments. Happy refund, boys ✌️

    • +1

Cheaper than a scratchie but just as entertaining.

  • +1

What a BS email. How they going say I havent been charged when I can see the available balance showing less the deducted price.

  • +1

I remember Amazon US honouring price errors back in Prime Day 2017, a lot of their high end cameras were USD $94.xx. I got me two Sony A6000 with 50mm lens for that price, it took them about a year to actually sent them, but they did.

Aussie businesses usually don’t honour price errors which is fine, but don’t come with a BS excuse about not being charged .

For those who paid with AMEX (including Paypal). The transaction fully went through so I lodged a dispute with AMEX and attached the Bunning's email and AMEX said they will credit my account. Quicker than chasing it up with Bunnings.

  • +2

My refund has ben processed - looks like chicken legs for now :(

  • +2

Got the email but I was definitely charged. Poor form Bunnings

"We want to assure you that you have not been charged for this order. You may have noticed a temporary hold for the order amount during the attempted transaction, which will be released."

Paid with paypal and funds definitely taken

    Talk $#!t get hit..

  • I paid by credit card and also have been billed. Yawn, off to complain.

  • +1

Seriously the incompentence is astounding. Just received an email after complaining that the money has been taken.

"Our banking system indicates that due to the pricing error your order has failed to generate. As a result of this failure, Bunnings have not captured the funds and the transaction has remained at pre-authorisation only. "

They are still denying that funds have been taken even though i have proof the money has been posted. Now asking me to contact Paypal. F

  • +4

When I said I paid via Paypal, their response:

    Hi,

Our banking system indicates that due to the pricing error your order has failed to generate. As a result of this failure, Bunnings have not captured the funds and the transaction has remained at pre-authorisation only.

When a transaction is pre-authorised, it's confirming to the merchant your account is valid and there’s money in your account to pay for what you are buying. The transaction amount is then deducted from your available funds (not your account balance) and the transaction shows as pending on your account until the payment process is complete.

The merchant will then send a request to your bank for these pending funds. Unfortunately, in this case, this step was not successful, due to the above-mentioned order failure.

Therefore your bank will make these funds available to you again, typically between 3-5 working days, but sometimes may take up to 10 working days or longer. This all depends on your financial institution.

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding this transaction, we kindly ask that you directly contact your bank or PayPal/Zip/Afterpay.

Same, now they're trying to pass the buck to Paypal and Paypal telling me to contact Bunnings. lol

      https://ibb.co/qLjDVg8D

    • +1

Got the same one. Responded accordingly.

      • +2

        I said this:

It's PAYPAL, I demand an immediate reversal of funds, I'm not waiting up to 10 days to get my money back because of your mistake, Paypal have told me to contact you, this is now what I am doing.

        • +1

I sent back a similar note to Mr Brown. What kind of shit is this from Bunnings.

        • +10

          Mine was like this:

I would like to know what is going to be done to help prevent occurrences like these happening in the future? It doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence shopping with Bunnings when things like this can potentially happen. Especially with zero communication and being left to wonder what is happening for nearly a week.

If there was a pricing error and your system failed to generate the order, the funds should never have even been held and we should have either seen on screen that there was an error or an email receipt of the error. However this doesn't seem to have been the case.

From what I experienced the order went through on your system, generated an order number, processed the payment from Afterpay and produced the generated order number and an order completion page showing the order process was successful - and then "nothing". The order didn't show in the "my account" area, no confirmation email and most importantly no indication there had been an error at any step of this process.

I feel there should be at the very least some form of indication on what is being done to prevent this in the future.

Same message. What a shit show. What now?

  • Is it time to ask for the vouchers then :D

  • Looks like Matt finally got off his ass and started processing paypal refunds after the fiery emails we had to send

  • +2

    My last email to him:

Do you have some kind of reading comprehension problem? Or do you not know the difference between Afterpay and PayPal?

<images of banking and Paypal statements>

If you can’t help me with this, feel free to forward it on to someone that knows how to do their job, thanks.

  • I recieved the same boilerplate email (that included information I didnt ask about??) which indicated that they believe the transaction would 'fix itself' and didn't believe a refund was required.

So I opened a case with Paypal, and basically said I had explained numerous times that these funds are not pending without success and "given a refund from Bunnings is not forthcoming, I am requesting a refund from Paypal".

  • Mine still pending on ING.

    • Still pending since March 14 12:08PM on ING app. Maybe I need to email them and complain or will it eventually resolve itself?

      • +1

Pending ING transaction disappeared today like it never happened. Didn't count towards the 5 unfortunately.

        • Yep it's gone this morning finally!

Well that was… Not fun? Lol.

  • +1

Finally Bunnings issued refunds to my paypal

  • +3

Mine got delivered overnight yesterday ….. then i woke up. 🤣🤣

    • Is it good?

      • +1

Yeah , i had massive legs. Then i woke up and looked in the mirror 😭😭😭

  • Mine hasn’t been refunded yet, am i in with a chance?

    • No, you'll just receive your refund later than others.

  • I've had one paypal refunded but not the second

  • Finally disappeared the transaction from cc statement.

  • +1

Not sure why someone said they have had a paypal refund, but not me, so opened a "report a problem" with paypal, screenshot of email attached. Strange that if one paypal refund happened then not all of them at once, but I've got no clue how these things work…

    • +1

They're relying on those effected to open a case w PayPal

  • +1

Received a refund through PayPal after opening a case.

  • Just opened 2 cases as well with Paypal

  • +1

Without opening a case (although had emailed Bunnings customer support) I have just received an email from Paypal advising Bunnings is issuing a refund.
Sounds like they're working through each order manually.

  • -6

Has anyone had any success requesting vouchers?

  • +3

Just got paypal notification of refund

  • Got my 2 PayPal refunds, don’t wait for them, reverse it with PayPal directly

  • +3

    • Yeah definitely, thanks OP 👍

    • +1

I'll always participate. If anything it will help marketplaces like this improve their systems, and sometimes we do win.

and got a lot new spam payment emails

  • still haven't received my commbank refund
