    Very expensive

    • It's cheaper than pretty much all other retailers for an identical product currently e.g. Amazon, TGG, Myer, David Jones etc. But yes, not an ATL, if that's what you were referring to.

I bought complete one for around 650 or may be 750.

I bought the outsize complete model for $820 after cash back

$900 on Dyson eBay if you add a $1 item and use code SNSMAR

  • These things are too noisy.

And too heavy. I returned mine for v12 Slim. So much better

    • Too noisy? Compared to what? I can have a pretty normal conversation while using mine. Our floors are pretty clean though so it rarely goes into full power suction mode though. When it does, it can be noisy then.

    Myer has it for 899

  • +5

Still too expensive, I believe it was about $779 during bf sale.

    • Source? So I can put in a price protection claim.

I bought from Dyson official website for $899 and they offered me free detailing kit and floor dock multi. Very happy with the quality

    • Price on Dyson website shows $999 …. how did you get the $899 plus extras?

      • Sorry didn't notice it was Gen5Detect. I bought V15

  • Just had a chat with Dyson about the Gen5Detect Absolute. Their price is $999. They will match Myer at $899 or "give" you a complimentary detail cleaning kit valued at $99 if you buy from them at $999 :P What a deal! Considering you can get a small cashback (Topcashback) and I have MyerOne, Myer got the sale.

I got the price match and the detailed cleaning kit this morning. Get them to price match it first, then tell them you have award points or gift cards for use in Myer, and what can they do to get the deal done on the spot. They wouldn't beat the price, but when I asked about the floor dock or other accessories they offered the detailed cleaning kit along with the price match.

I would normally wait for a better deal, but I was actually in need of a vacuum cleaner so this worked out.

Just go to any shop (if you haven't own own one) and see how plasticky and cheap looking that thing is. Sorry, but no way it is worth it any where close to that amount. It doesn't even stand up on its own at this price range.

Good vacuum.. bought it in January for about 800.. (price matches and diacounted gift cards.)

Pretty impressed initially but have started noticing the drawbacks.
Battery life is not impressive. It is impossible to do my entire house in one charge unless I go "eco" mode.. which I find the suction is not strong enough..
Will spend on a spare battery later though.

    • 800 is the top maximum I can go with a Dyson. Any higher and it a rip off.

      • I know.. before dyson i was using a shitty one from kmart.. it barely got the job done.. so getting a dyson has cut the time in a third.. but i am confident that spending around 450 on a samsung jet would be more utility/dollar. Of course even with diminishing marginal utility, this is still on the expensive side.

For a vacuum cleaner to cost damn-near a grand, I'd need it to suck as gently as it does hard

  • Got it for $845 total at Myer with the 6% discounted gift cards through Macquarie – sold.

Not too miffed about missing the Amazon Dyson V15 Detect deal at $828.99, though I see some debate about which one is ultimately better.

Keeping my two V6s with Ryobi battery, HEPA filter, and trigger lock mods for now – but if the Gen5 really doesn’t tangle with long hair, I’d call this a worthy upgrade.

  • I know this is comparing apples to eneloops but does anyone have thoughts on getting this instead of a Miele C3 (or similar models with a cord)?
My use case is mostly vacuuming carpet on the upstairs floor and use a robot vacuum downstairs on floorboards.

    • a corded vac has a lot of horsepower, the power head on my corded dyson is a beast compared to the cordless versions. i have corded for the weekend clean, and it finds dirt the cordless misses, and cordless for little clean ups in the high traffic during the week as i don’t normally take shoes off in the house, or ask guests to.

  • Asked The Good Guys to beat the $899.00 price from Myer or Amazon and they offered it for $889.00.

Paid with 10% discounted TCN Gift gift cards from this Coles deal, which I bought with 3% discounted Category Choice Groceries cards from Amazon.

Final out of pocket cost was $776.10.

Add in whatever value I redeem from the credit card points earned in buying the Category Choice cards and I'm pretty happy with that set of stacks.

  • Thanks to a glitch in the matrix got the gen5detect complete version for $605 after cb. Would recommend but only if heavily discounted.

    • That's crazy. How and when? It'll be great if you can share the tricks of the trade mate! It's showing out of stock at Dyson.

      • BF special plus managed to stack 3 cbs due to a glitch (not obtainable now). I think others got for around $700 though using sale price, normal cb and bank cb.
