  • i was only just reading up on your previous deals last night. Good to see another!

    • Thanks berger. We do post regularly on OzBargain so keep an eye out if you're ever after anything :)

  • +1

    Shipping estimates to major cities?

    • +2

      METRO PRICES
      Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra - $15
      Brisbane, Adelaide - $20
      Hobart - $25
      Perth - $30

  • +1

hey guys any suggestions if it will it make good basic htpc ?

    • +1

i was thinking the exact same thing
the WAF wouldnt be good with that case and the noise under the tv

as far as running xbmc though, it would be decent

    • +2

iirc the celeron uses a HD2000. This will struggle at high bitrate movies specially bluray images and 3d. Might need to drop in a dedicated gpu ~$40.

      • It's not even HD 2000, but I've seen people using this CPU with 1080p BluRay movies and haven't had problems.

    • +1

      Not great.

For starters it'll look terrible. It's full size ATX and that fun mix of silver and black. Not pretty.

It wouldn't be incredibly loud, but you'd likely notice the fan noise.

And the CPU would struggle with some things. Not be terrible or anything, just be maxed out and maybe drop a few frames here and there.

It's more a for grandma or no-frills office or for the kids to do their homework on PC.

      • That doesn't mean it can't be used as a cheap HTPC it just means it's not aesthetically pleasing at all. For this price those specs can't be bought on any ITX or "mini PC". I know that "mini PCs" or ITX systems can be found for slightly cheaper than that but they won't have those specs. This system is great for people with wall units where a big box can be hidden away with air flow that is muffled because it's cheap and has great performance you could even play some good games on it if you threw in a 7770 or something into it.

        • Yes, that's exactly what I said. It can be used for it, but it's nothing approaching ideal.

  • +4

Two days into the year and you already have a computer of the year? WOW

    • Well as we said above, we've definately set the bar high!

  • any deal on a monitor for this? like a 22inch

  • Hi Visiontech, do you have any offers on any touch screen monitors for a desktop? Not sure whether you even sell any.

Also what is the case that will come with the system, is it the on in the thumbnail? Just want to make sure it's not a micro pc.

    • Hi wog_ta, none at the moment unfortunately. We will definately have something come up in the next 1-2 weeks if you can wait a little bit. Best source would be our website, once we get the stock they'll be online straight away. Alternatively if you'd like to email us @ [email protected] I can open an inquiry for you so a team member can call you when something comes in.

      • yep sounds good, need to replace a faulty touch screen for work.

  • +2

Can this play the starcraft 2 that I picked up for 10 bucks on another deal.

    • +1

Would it play it? On low resolution, low detail… yes.

Would it be enjoyable? Probably not. Would it be slow and jerky and look pretty bad? Yes, yes it would.

    • Probably not mtran, you'd be okay for the first 5 minutes of the game until everyone starts troop spamming then you'd be rather frustrated. We could add in a graphics card which would improve this, but alternatively i'd suggest just go with something like this; http://www.visiontech.com.au/computers/desktops/gaming-media…

    • Maybe, but just spend the $50 or more on a GPU mate and you can play all the new games fairly nicely ($200 and you can play them on max settings, even).

    • +1

You could play it at 1080p on low at least, I imagine. SC2 scales down extremely well.

That said, a cheap dedicated GPU would be of substantial benefit to this computer.

  • +1

Just looked the parts up, around $225 to build it yourself, amazing deal!

But please, the case, I mean for the price it's good, but the only way it might look good is if you were running Windows 95 on it.

    • +5

You'd get some pretty sweet frame rates for encarta and creative writer though..

  • +1

A deal on a high end PC would be nice!

    • Soon check :P Come back next week, we're trying to close off a deal with the suppliers now for some high end graphics cards. If we get the price we're targeting next week will be exciting for our gamers out there :)

      • can you sell these high end graphics cards by themselves? :P

        • +2

Should be able to work something out.

      • Do a great deal on the ASUS gtx 660 and you've got yourself a buyer :P (gpu only not system)

        • EDIT: realised you guys don't sell individual parts

        • Not through the website, but we can manually process the order for you. I'll comment back when we get this deal confirmed!

        • +1

Would be awesome if you can do a deal on Radeon 7870 or similar.

        • All I've heard about this card is that it's about ~15% slower than a 680/7950 at about 66% of the price… It all adds up to be a bargain card where you get more than you pay for and that will probably be my next card, if not in crossfire!

  • Saw this on FaceBook. A good deal for what it is - but some of the upgrade costs are an absolute ripoff..

Upgrade to 16gb RAM costs $118 - parts would cost less than half that…

$40 to upgrade to 500gb HDD - unless you are using 2nd hand parts or old stock, the 500gb drives are actually cheaper than the 160gb!!

What is the motherboard brand/model it is running on? I see it is a H61.

Anyone thinking of buying this remember the $15.99 Windows 8 upgrade licenses….

  • Hi VisionTech - quick question on postage, what would be the cost to North Qld - Townsville? One of my new years resolutions to help out my neighbour upgrade from his paperwieght.

    • Ivan Maz? o.O I know a "Maz" from Townsville :P Freight should work out between $20-$30 for regional QLD. When you add to cart, you can "view cart" then enter a postcode for freight calculator. This will allow you to see the freight costs before you proceed to order the product.

      • Not an Ivan… Us Maz's are around, never know which one you are talking to! :) Thanks VT, will pass it onto my neighbour.

Why bother? No USB 3, no SATA_6, no SSD, cheapo HDD and a case that was obviously built in 1995. There is a price you simply can't drop lower with PC's otherwise you'll end up with crap. Even though that Celeron has no trouble playing 50GB BD .iso's, you shouldn't go lower than an i3 for an office box unless you are dead broke. The extra CPU grunt comes in handy every single time. I'd rather build a $500 box that lasts and lasts for 5yrs or so around an i3. You'll be replacing this in a few months.

    • MOre to the point, if you still have something similar in your environment and were going to replace it, you wouldn't be able to give it away.

    • -1

"You'll be replacing this in a few months", sorry, but I completely disagree. Home office tasks haven't needed fast CPUs in a long time, nor will they. I know plenty of people still using 10yo PCs for emails / Word / internet browsing, and this is much faster than those. If you were going to upgrade anything it'd be swapping the HDD for an SSD. This will give you a MUCH more noticeable improvement than an i3.

      • -3

Wrong. 10yr old junk boxes belong in the bin. They are laughably slow for anything you can do with a browser. Even with an SSD. This isn't 2000. Browsers and the internet and the desktop have evolved. The i3 is a massive system wide improvement. You think that poky Celeron can open 2 or 3 pdf's, a dozen browser windows and run some background download tasks? What about the odd bit of video or audio encoding/rendering? A few touch up's here and there? The CPU still is and always will be vital.

    • You just don't get it, it's not about the product, there will always be a better product, it's about the price. This site isn't called livingrich.com.au it is called ozbargain.com.au

  • Good YUM CHA machine for home use

  • +1

Great deal, beats the HP N40L !

  • +1

    Hi guys,
This offer has expired now, we've read through your comments above though and made a second i3 unit with no time expiry for those of you who wanted more grunt! Check it out online; http://www.visiontech.com.au/computers/desktops/home-desktop…

    • +3

Dat case, a face only a mother would love.

  • How about a deal with an i5 with 8GB RAM.
