Just purchased a few days ago at $25.95 in an attempt to remedy my horrendous sleep after starting a ketogenic diet, apparently Magnesium Glycinate helps for that, here's hoping.

Seems they're matching Woolworths special price

Powder also available $17.50 (or $15.75 Sub & Save)

Mod: Deal reverted & re-expired, please post Woolworths powder separately/as a new deal if you wish.

I actually really like this, bought multiple times. Helps with sore legs and sleep (for me and the gf too!)

    • +1

I find Magnesium Taurate to be good for sleep as well.

    • magnesium glycinate saved my legs too, after intense cardio sessions I always used to cramp, but now my legs just get sore haha. Actually insane.

  • Do people like the powder or pill more?

    • +2

I've tried both. Capsules were a bit cheaper at the time i purchased, and more convenient. That said, I enjoyed the powder drink and I felt it worked faster in making me sleepy before bed.

  • Also what's the expiry date for these ones?

    • +1

I got some in November, expiry 07/2027

I am keto and confirm this stuff is great for sleep. I take 2 a day (plus D3/K2).

    • When do you take your D3 + K2 combination,
      ie. morning or night ?
( before or after meals? )

      • +2

It's my understanding that D3 is best taken in the morning as it can interfere with melatonin production if taken at night. It's also best to take D3 as well as K2 with a meal which has some fat.

        • Thanks for that.

          I was taking D3 at night !

  • +2

Helps with cramps after legday. Sleep kinda, don't have heaps of coffees and then say this doesn’t help with sleep mkayyy

  • Are these easy to swallow? I find capsules a bit tougher to swallow than tablets

  • -4

Wouldn't this be a better deal? More magnesium, 200 tablets and cheaper with a subscription.

    • +12

Different type of Magnesium. Apparently they all have different rates of absorption, with Magnesium Glycinate being the best/easiest for the body to absorb. Also, Magnesium Oxide is an osmotic laxative, so uhhh your system will certainly be clear after a round of it!

    • +8

dont go near this or any form of mg oxide, worst form

    • Mag Oxide has the lowest bioavailability, also taking synthetic B6 in long term will have a deadly side effect

  • -1

    Not a bad deal..

I'd also recommend Mega Magnesium, similar price per tablet at the moment, with extra ingredients:

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/80215/ethical-nutrie…

not affiliated - I just take it daily, good for sleep and no cramps.

    • +2

Be careful with that. It includes the synthetic form of Vit B6 (Pyridoxine) at 16.6mg per tablet which can lead to nerve damage if taken over an extended period.

      • I bought this one with 5mg Vit B6 which is already 294% of daily value. Should I stop taking them?

        https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0BS8MSHVW

        • +1

That’s up to you. B6 is naturally found in many foods, so it’s the total consumption from all sources that’s most important.
Many supplements have 25mg or even 50mg, so if it were me, rather than discarding it, given that it's 5mg, I’d be inclined to take one every second or third day until the bottle is empty.
For years, I’ve been taking a multi b with 25mg of the active form of B6 (Pyridoxal phosphate (PLP, pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, P5P)) a few times a week without any issues.

          PS

The NIH has set the upper limit for vitamin B6 of 12 mg/day for all adults.
          https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/VitaminB6-HealthProfession…

      • So the ones to look for are mag glycinate but no Pyridoxine? Would this one be ok? Starting to get a bit confused haha

      • +1

I think you are scaremongering there a bit, 16.6mg is very low - many other tablets have far more than this

There are no well-documented cases of neuropathy at this dose, especially if taken as part of a balanced diet.

Don't get me wrong I don't need the B6 either really but overall it's still a good daily for magnesium + a few low dose extras

        • +1

I did say over an extended period.
I agree, 16mg is not alarming compared to the amount in other brands, but I personally would be wary if it were to be taken daily over a year or more.
I have come across individuals on the internet reporting problems with taking 10mg daily over 2 years – everyone is different though.
B6 is not excreted fully like other Vit Bs and has a half-life of around a month in the blood.
The TGA now also requires that B6 in daily doses over 10mg must have a label warning about the risk of peripheral neuropathy.

  • +1

Glycine has a nice sweet taste, so I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon to tea or coffee, etc. (either on its own or as Magnesium glycinate).
240 gms of the powder for $15.75 is a bargain and I was looking at purchasing it until I found a list of the other ingredients:
    citric acid
    colloidal anhydrous silica
    Flavour
    Guar Gum
    isomalt
    maltodextrin
    sucralose
Why must they pollute it with all that other junk when it tastes great without it.

Won't deliver to me. Seems.like more and more Amazon deals are zone restricted.

    • Items fulfilled by Amazon AU and Amazon Global Store products are not eligible for delivery to the following postcodes: 6799, 6798, 4875, 2899 and 2898.

      From Amazon website

      • so what. I'm 60km from the GPO and multiple deliveries just stopped 6 months ago.

      • -1

        Or 2480

    • +3

      Thats no reason to neg?

      • -2

        Agreed

        • Maybe deal needs to be flagged as "Zone Restricted". Otherwise is waste of my time to click through. Im not hating just saying not a deal

      • Idnk? Is zone restricted, when has been previously mostly all inclusive. I take your point though thanks

      • -2

I agree, mods seem to think it’s perfectly fine though…

      • People neg harvey norman deals just because they dont like the guy. Guess this would fall under an issue with the retailer which is a valid reason

    • +2

crappy metropolitan amazon. Used to deliver anywhere, now restricted to 2km from the packing room.

    • didnt last long on amazon anyway, only available for 50% at WW now

  • -2

if your are doing keto this is better higher quality vitamin and doesn't' contain any chemical fillers.

    https://shop.drberg.com/products/d3-k2-vitamin

taken this for over a year and you feel so good. My D3 levels are very good now.

'Dr' Berg is a chiropractor and scientologist.

Also a grifter and peddler of pseudo science.

The pills linked to here are Bergs and of d3/k2 (allegedly) whereas entire thread is related to magnesium.

      • -1

Well actually no a lot of his research is not just coming from him its coming from many other doctors, if you look at the research instead of not understanding it, it actually makes lot of since they have actual oncologists in the U.S. that will treat cancer with a combination of chemo and high dose of vitinum D there is a lot of facts that prove Vitamin D is highly beneficial to the body. You don’t need to taking it from Dr Berg. A lot of what he says is backed by a lot of actual Doctors that know nutrition as well as the medical research behind it. Also if you look up the ingredients you will find its natural with no fillers or chemicals, unlike this product on sale in this ozbargin post.

  • +1

    May have ended?
Comes up as $21.63 at checkout of S&S for me.

  • Have used this for "sleep" doesnt seem to work for me.

    • +2

Might just mean your sleep issues are caused by something else, or this doesn't work well.

      • Yeah. I know watches arnt the best metric to track sleep but my sleep scores were always low on mag-glyc.
Im now on valerian root and it seems to be improving.
I stacked both and had horrendous sleeps.

    • How much you took ? I took 300mg-400mg and it knock me out in less than 10mins. Provides that my light environment is up to standard, aka no light 1h b4 sleep, proper sun expose during the day.

      • 400mg. I can easily fall asleep. Staying asleep is my problem.

  • +1

    100 tables x 100mg = 10g of Mag? Am I doing the maths right?

This one is cheaper at $15 each . 240g total, at 6g ( 300mg of Mag ), equals to 12g of Mag per container.

    • +3

      Other ingredients with that:

      citric acid
      colloidal anhydrous silica
      Flavour
      malic acid
      maltodextrin
      Siraitia grosvenorii
      sodium bicarbonate
      thaumatin

      https://www.tga.gov.au/resources/artg/462530

(It'd be great if manufacturers here were required to list all ingredients on the package like they do in the US.)

      • +1

Ohhhh I didnt know that, thank you for it. That a no from me then, I was planning to buy 4

  • They call them high strength but 500mg is a pretty standard size.
Not sure how they calculated 100mg elemental as it should be around 14% elemental magnesium for magnesium glycinate. This can sometimes mean they buffer the magnesium with another form but dont declare it but dont know if that is the case for this brand

  • +1

Basically the only thing I seem to be extremely deficient in unless I keep on top of supplementing it. Literally everything in my life improves once I start supplementing magnesium again.

    • I seem to be the same. Once I stop I can feel the sore back coming back immediately. Also during pms times I take 2 and it helps.

  • -2

Tastes horrible in powder form and not sure if it works, but I take Magnesium Bisglycinate regularly. So dunno if this would help people.

  • The other thing about this product is it's a form of magnesium that's easy on the gut, if you have IBS or something similar, this one's the go.

  • Mrs. and I (on pretty much Carnivore) take it (different brand).
Works a treat. I take 3-4 before bed and it makes me fall asleep like a baby.

I used to take Blackmores Sleep well or what it was named, with Valerian.
Never slept as quick/good as with this stuff and also with the Magnesium you don't have a hard time getting up next day, compared to the Valerian.

  • Thanks. Woolies doesn't seem to keep this in the capsules. Only powder. Hence I've purchased multiple times from Amazon now

    • WW do have capsules

      • Oh!! Must be where I am then never seem to see any. In Sydney metro

        • 5 minutes ago I picked them up from Town Hall Metro

          • -1
