Suggest for Me a UHD 4k Monitor for My Very Cramped Desk

I'm after a UHD (4k resolution) monitor for my very cramped desk at home. I want to mount it to the wall at the back of the desk so I can maximise the bench top without a stand taking up extra space.

  • Size to be at least 27"
  • Flat screen only not curved.
  • The thinner the better, a thin wall mount too.
  • Will be used for creating technical 3D drawings, not gaming.

Driving it will be an HP EliteBook x360 1040 G7, i7-10610U, 16 GB, Integrated Intel UHD Graphics.

Any suggestions on a good bang for buck monitor for this?

Best to daisy chain three of these.

    • If I had my time again this would be it.

How many bucks do you have OP?

Where did they mention they farm deer?

Clearly OP has no eyed deer.

        • has no eyed deer.

          Clearly not…

    • Sub $500.

      • A 27" wall-mount will be tiny. No point making it 4K. Even my 32" is like 40cm from my face on a swing-arm over the middle of the desk, if I want to make use of those pixels

You should get at least a 42" to increase the viewing distance to the wall behind your desk.

sub $500 … Would a 4K TV do the job? It may need an active cable to convert DP to HDMI2, but that is cheap.

USB-C 65W , Only 1 Cable needed for Power, Video and Audio

    $297

    • The monitor is basically a dock for the laptop? It will passthrough power, audio and video?

      • Yes, the monitor has USB hub built in. I plugged in my wired mouse and keyboard into the monitor. Just make sure your laptop is usb-c video and charging compatible. The monitor can output 65w.

        • never new such a monitor existed (that can power the laptop) lol.

I've always used Dell monitors. Hows the picture quality of the Lenovo.

Will investigate if any Dell monitors can do it.

          • @JimB: Dell also have USB-C monitor that can provide 65W (cheaper) or even 90W (more epensive) of power.

            BUT the cheapest Dell 4K USB-C (Dell 27 4K UHD USB-C Monitor - S2722QC) with 65W of power will be $379.10

            • @bobokingdom: 65w is fine. The macbook air comes with a 30w charger standard.

Awesome. I'll probably pay the extra $80 for the Dell.

        • I read that when the monito goes to sleep, it stops providing 65w charge to the laptop. So you can't really plug in the laptop to the monitor to charge it up if the laptop is off or the monitor sleeps?

          • @brettule: Great Question. You can make the adjustment on the monitor so it will keep on supplying power to the laptop / computer when it is sleeping.

    • I've just bought this, cheapest 4K USB-C 27" I can find.

Instant tax write off too with it being under $300

      • Just HDMI 1 can't do 4K or Audio. Make sure to use USB-C and HDMI2 for 4K.

  • I have 2 of these u2720q
You can get ten newest model for around 400 on fbmp

  • USB hub 4K 27 inch monitor. New from dell at $380. One cable and you've got power and display.
