Agree. Have 25/10 for several years. 4 people in the household. Netflix TV works fine. One person into gaming. One into watching YouTube videos most of the day. Zero issues!

  • Does you use CGNAT and if so are there means to opt out for free, or do you need to pay for static ip and if so what cost?

    Good deal depending on that

    • +2

This deal is CGNAT, however you can switch to a static IP by contacting support via phone, email, or live chat at an extra cost.

    • If you don't want to pay the cost, you can use something like Tailscale or Zerotier instead, or just rent a VPS and start a Wireguard VPN.

  • Is this speed good enough for streaming live TV most of the time? (plus one smart device)

    • +3

Yes, for streaming FTA TV, at 720p or full HD, 25/10 is adequate.

    • +2

Would be fine, though might hit issues if you’re trying to stream two high def things at one time.
Some 4K content might max it out too

      • +1

Could probably stream 5 FTA channels at once at max quality and still have no issues… People vastly overestimate their bandwidth usage.

Most of the free to air apps are 2.5mbps~.

  • I have read theories that the 25 speed plan on NBN might not last long, might be hard to confirm or confirm it will exist for a long time either, any thoughts on this? What I'm hoping happens is all of the plans will bump up a notch in speed for the same price, but that is wishful thinking.

    • +1

You’ll have to ask nbn about that one!

I’d say the 25/10 plans are here to stay. The 12/1 plan is likely to be dumped in the next few months/years etc.

100/20 will be going up to 500/50 in September this year. It’s up to the RSP what they do with pricing

    • +2

Haha wishful indeed. You know we're all just gonna have to pay more.

    • What I'm hoping happens is all of the plans will bump up a notch in speed for the same price

Even just middle of the road 50mbps for $59 permanently seems an impossible ask after all these years.

      • +1

Permanently churning is what I do, currently on Southern Phone for 12 months at $59 on 50/20 when that ends will be off to the next ISP. Agree though would be less hassle not having to keep switching to get reasonable pricing.

        • Permanently churning is what I do

Same for myself but like a lot of the other comments mentioned I'm looking for an easier permanent solution for elderly relatives. Especially since so far churning every 6 months involves physical presence to update logins.

      • nbn's wholesale price for the 50/20 AVC is $52.52, so $59 ongoing really is an impossible ask, unless the RSP was a startup willing to burn money in order to gain market share.

  • nice. anything for 50/20?

    • Our 50/20 plan is $79/month :)

Unfortunately not as good of a deal as this

      • how about 50/10 for $69/month? XD

  • -5

Wow cheap for a reason after looking at the comments

    • no such thing as a free lunch

  • Dont suppose this plan is also for Fixed wireless NBN?

    • +2

      Yes, it is! :)

  • Is it cgnat ony?
    Only option for static ip?

    • A static IP bolt-on is available for $5/month by contacting support via phone, email or live chat.

This deal is CGNAT by default. Our other services come with a real-world routable IPv4 address.

  • Are new customers required to do a credit check, or ID check?

    • No, all our residential plans are prepaid and this do not require a credit check.

  • Would this be a good option to move from ABB in Perth? I’ve found them to be great (25/10 too), but would save $10 a month, just don’t follow the comments about Sydney (would this plan not be good for WA?). Sorry, bit out of the loop on NBN.

    • +2

If you don’t care about latency and gaming. This plan will be fine. General web browsing and 4K streaming will be fine

      • Thanks very much for this info - sounds like it could be an option and I just checked, I think it would save $24 a month. Neither of us game so if it would cover streaming + simultaneous phone browsing of Instagram etc then it would be fine I think. Might give it a go!

        • +2

have a look at FUBAR NBN. They have a perth POP and only $3 more a month. I am also in WA and FUBAR is the only "Cheap" provider with a perth POP
          https://www.itsfubar.com.au/data-services/nbn-tc4/

          • +1

@Churna: Ah I wish I’d seen this earlier! I’ve given this deal a go so will see how it goes with the east coast POP. If it ends up feeling slow I’ll switch to fubar, they look great. I probably should have googled what a POP is before taking the leap! Haha.

    • Moving to Buddytelco (same network as ABB but CGNAT only) would save you $10+ per month as well.

      https://www.buddytelco.com.au/

      • +1

        That’s $65 for 25/10, this is $47

  • Hey OP, I'm with iPrimus atm, how long does it normally take to churn over?

    • +1

      Hi,

Churns are usually complete within 12 hours. Churning from iPrimus, you may need to change your modem from PPPoE to IPoE/DHCP.

We can help with that if needed :)

  • New adult here. I've just bought a 75C855. This wouldn't be sufficient for us to stream 4k per the TV's capabilities, whilst using our phones and laptops for web browsing/tiktok right?

    • It’d likely be fine, but it depends where you stream the 4K from. Netflix will usually buffer ahead a bit and not saturate it anyway. Probably wouldn’t expect to load up many other videos etc though (TikTok’s not going to matter).

    • Hopefully it means you can avoid TikTok and web browsing while watching your 4K Netflix show…

      • +2

Have you considered that 2 different people in one household may be doing 2 different things independently of each other?

        • +1

          Don't be ridiculous!

  • +2

Solid price on that speed tier. Rare to see below $50 ongoing (ie not having to constantly churn). Will move a couple of clients over very likely as nobody wants to look after existing customers anymore.

  • Any landline bundle with call divert to mobile??

  • Looking for your opinion @Twix!

    • It should be ok if you are doing general online tasks and you don't mind a little extra latency to Sydney.

How many users are there in your household?
Who are you with now and how much are you paying?

  • Any cheap standby business plans that can immediately upgraded to a faster speed when needed?

    • Launtel

    • If you need to near-instantly raise/lower your speed tier at a moment's notice, I recommend looking elsewhere as service upgrades/downgrades are not yet automated in our client portal.

  • Hi OP, do you offer residential VOIP home phone plans?

My parents are currently on a 50/20 plan and they only ever watch Youtube once a week, maybe less but they want to keep their home phone number…

    • +1

We do offer unlimited residential VoIP for $15/month. Alternatively, we can just redirect all calls to their home phone to a mobile number.

Shoot through an email [email protected] and we'll get you sorted :)

  • nice deal.
But how long will it stay at this price?

  • Hi OP, I'm also after plan with VOIP, but prefer PAYG. Any option cheaper than $15/m?

Note, it’s just for emergency backup in our regional area with weak mobile signal playing havoc with Wifi Calling

    • Hi,

We don't offer any PAYG VoIP plans, and cannot recommend VoIP for emergency use :)

If you're after PAYG, CrazyTel does offer very affordable PAYG plans that will work with our nbn service.

On WiFi calling - Often, switching into airplane mode will improve WiFi calling in poor coverage areas, as your phone won't try to connect to a phone tower, only to be disconnected.

  • Hey, my internet has become super patchy today, so considering changing to you guys. Can you please advise if:
1: I sign up, does that automatically take over my exisiting no lock in contract plan with another company? As in I don’t have to talk or deal with them anymore.
2: How quickly can the changeover occur? Would it happen today/ tomorrow?

    Cheers!

    • Hey! 👋

      1. Yes, the nbn transfer process will automatically cancel your current plan. You should receive an email from your previous provider confirming cancellation within 24 hours. If you don't, it's best to contact them to make sure they cancelled your plan.
      2. If you ordered now, your service would most likely be active tonight.

If, after you switch, you're still experiencing issues, get in touch and we'll raise a fault with nbn.

      :)

      • Legend! Sold!

Thanks heaps for the quick reply, fingers crossed it changes over tonight and no issues but could be NBN fault.

        Cheers mate!

    • @nokidsandthreemoney : You noted "As in I don’t have to talk or deal with them anymore".
Tip: It is always best to let your existing supplier know to cancel your account on XX date regardless.
Reason: Their accounts systems may not be aware that you have churned away, In turn a new invoice could be created after the fact, sillly I know but happens. By letting them know ensures that there are no surprise charges or invoices if that makes sense?

      • Thanks heaps for the heads up, that’s excellent advice and probably just saved me $65! You’re a gem!

        • Oh……and "DO NOT" cancel prior to churning to alternate supplier as you account needs to be active. I usually recommend in setting the transfer date to be a few days (excluding weekends) before existing plan expires to save doubling up on charges as existing supplier doesn't refund. Just let them know in advance.

          • @Borg: Very good advice - After an nbn service is disconnected, there is a ~24 hour wait until another service can be ordered :)

  • I’m somewhat a heavy user (3-5TB per month). Does this cost you extra? If so I probably will go with a bigger company so they can absorb it :)

  • +1

you are 1000% Much better off going with FUBAR NBN if in any state other than sydney. Only $3 a month more but POP in each state so all your traffic doesn't have to go to Sydney first. I am enjoying this competition around the 25/10 plan that is enough for Majority of Aussie homes

    • +1

."you are 1000% Much better off" Really?
That’s a bit rude towards OP and Solitary Technology who are just putting it out there with is Post that this "decent" deal is available. Do you have some stats to back this up i.e. that they are going to be much worse?

      • Yes? All data will need to travel across the country if you are anywhere other then sydney. In WA your ping will go from 5-8ms to 50-60ms (close to adsl ping speeds). This can cause massive issues for modern sites that needs to load a ton of small items or gaming in a house. this is also important for parts of Aus that dont have a direct link to Sydney like rural homes that need to go Home -> Capital city -> Sydney as these pings can go even higher. In Fact the website should probs put a disclaimer on their site about this.

        • +1

Weird post - unless you're gaming, none of that matters. Your grandparents won't notice any difference.

ADSL ping speeds are absolutely fine for none-gaming uses.

          • @Nom: Totally agree. It's getting ridiculous how people love to jump in only to criticise deals like these especially where we are talking about 25/10 here. They aren't high end plans where ping speeds are important for gaming or the likes.

If you live in WA then indeed you need to be across who is where if Ping speed is essential but not on a 25/10 plan.

            • +2

@Borg: FUBAR NBN is $3 more enough for a much better experience if anywhere other then Sydney? Where am I wrong im so confused why the pushback. Anything realtime that cannot buffer will be better. Video calls, wifi calling if your phone goes over to that, General web browsing all will be snappier with a POP in your capital city.

            • @Borg:

It's getting ridiculous how people love to jump in only to criticise deals like these

Even the 'american' spelling couldn't be spared lol.

        • DNS lookups too, pretty big impact too on modern websites like you said

  • Thanks

  • +1

Signed up, interested to see how it goes and how long the price will last!

  • Does this work with PPOE? I need to check if my parents modem even supports DHCP lol.

    • Yes, we use DHCP/IPoE. Most likely it does support IPoE, however if it doesn't, get in touch and we can work something out :)

  • Mum and dad is currently with Belong (subsidiary of Telstra). Any configuration required on the existing Belong router if switched to your 25/10 plan?

    Thanks

    • +1

No, Belong also uses DHCP/IPoE, so you won't need to change any settings on their router :)

When you/they get an SMS advising the service is active, a router power cycle (turn off, then on again) is all that is needed

      • Thanks. I'll give it a try. Hopefully, it churns smoothly.

Btw, I am getting a "Error: HTTP Error: 403" when putting in the address, which is auto filled while typing in the full address. Any idea why? It is apartment block and currently has nbn connection.

        • Hi,

Our address checker is having some issues at the moment. If you send through an email, or start a live chat and we can do an SQ on the address.

  • Is this still available @SolitaryTechnology?

  • Great deal - my parents were on a cheap seniors plan that had a monthly data limit that they would hit in the last week of each month.
Sent this link to my dad, who signed up and they were switched over real quick.
Unfortunately, dad didn't realise his existing modem was ISP locked, so I had to give him an old router for the time being.
Props to their service and support.
    Seems pretty good so far.

  • Hi @SolitaryTechnology, i have signed up and so far have only received an email about the invoice.

Should I be expecting another email when the service is active?

    Thanks.

    • You should get an email and SMS when the service is activated :)

  • Is this deal expired already? Cannot see the 25/10 option anymore.

    • Correct and Post is also marked as Expired

      • yep, I sent the request to mark as expired shortly after asking the question

        • No it showed as expired a couple of days back (when I last looked)…..OP made note somewhere above that deal no longer was avail :-)
