Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro faces widespread charging issues

    https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/02/26/samsung-galaxy-buds-3-…

    • +2

I have these buds, and I have the charging issue, stay away!

      • +2

Seems to be specific batches from latest reports. My son has a pair and they are great, no issues at all.

    • +5

I have these buds, and I don't have the charging issue.

I got them free with my phone so it would have been in the first batch.

I'd be interested to find out exactly how widespread the issue is, or if GizmoChina just used a clickbait headline.

    • +1

I have these and have had ZERO charging issues. Early days tho… only had it for a month and half I think. I do like them waaaaaaaay more than the buds pro2

  • +1

good spot - i got buds 2 pro few weeks back for little less so returning them and getting these , cheers

    • The 2pros seem to have better reviews. Considering the 2pros have been on the market longer, and the reported issues with the 3pros, makes me hesitant to upgrade. Please come back with a review

      • +1

I upgraded and so far I'm very happy with the pro3

        • any issues with fit? sound quality over the 2pros?

          • @WhereThouArt: No issues. Only thing is that it is a bit trickier to get them back in the box but that's really minor… The sound quality is waaaay better but that may be cause I'm using it with a S24 Ultra and a decent streaming service. The noise cancelling is also very good.

One thing I could never truly get to work on the Pro2s was being able to answer and hang up calls without reaching for my phone. On the Pro3 it's a breeze. There's this 'pinch to' motion that you can set and it seriously helps since I'm always using my hands at work.

      • +2

i just find the fit crappy with 2 pros, they sound good and all but buds are smaller and i like shape of 3s better, will make it easier to place them in

  • Be warned, they are not true multipoint devices! Don't ask me how they could be considered Pro if they are only multipoint on the Samsung ecosystem but hey… Also the fit is not great, had to get some foam tips to make them stay in my ears.

    • +1

If it's anything like my buds 2 pro, it isn't multipoint with samsung either.

They swap using software, you should be able to install it on any android phones. It definitely works on any windows computer too.

Personally, I prefer this over multipoint. My experience with multipoint is a bit of a hassle when you are dealing with more than 2 devices.

      • care to explain more about the software you are referring to?

      • Yeah I installed the buds application on my PC, unfortunately if I'm connected to the PC it doesn't come up as a Bluetooth option when in the call so I still have to go into Bluetooth and connect the buds before / after accepting the call which it connects quickly but still… Unless that's not how it should work?

    • This is the only thing holding me back. I have multipoint on my Pixel Bud Pros but it's garbage! Fine with my phone but struggles to switch to my PC when a Teams call pops up. Even if i just want to start a Teams call on my PC it is hit and miss whether or not they decide to work. I was hoping these would be a great option to switch to but alas…

  • has anyone here used freedbuds 3 pro and compared to these?

Got a pair of these in the Samsung sale, the sound quality is really good when you can get them to fit properly. I find I need to often adjust my left one to feel like it's properly in which is a little annoying. Compared them to my partner's Apple pod pro 2's and could notice the depth of sound was way better on the Samsungs. Noise cancelling is also really good but again, depends on getting them to sit properly within the ear.

    • I haven't checked for these buds, but foam tips on the airpods pro were a game changer for me.

      • Do you have a link to foam tips. Interested in exploring something like htis

At $200 I would not buy these. I think there are much better options out there, especially older versions like Buds2 Pro. My review:
The Galaxy Buds3 Pro offer great sound quality and decent active noise cancellation, but that's all the positive aspects I can mention. Compared to my original Galaxy Buds, the Buds3 Pro are less comfortable to wear, especially when using them in bed. Additionally, while wearing the Buds3 Pro outdoors on a windy day, you can hear a lot of wind noise. This issue is even worse when active noise cancellation is turned on. Wind noise is significantly less noticeable on my original Galaxy Buds. Lastly, the control scheme is not ideal. You have to pinch the stem of the buds quite hard to control music, which sometimes causes the buds to move around in my ear, requiring a readjustment. The tapping control scheme on the original Galaxy Buds is much better in this regard. Also, it is very easy to accidentally swipe the stem and change the volume when putting on or taking off the buds, and there is no option to disable this without also disabling the gestures to play, pause, and skip music.

Earphones are very subjective things. At $204 I would definitely buy these. I find them more comfortable than my old Galaxy Buds, Buds Live, Sony WF1000XM4, abd Bose QC Earbuds II.

I prefer the pinching action over tapping as it's harder to accidentally perform a command just by adjusting the position. So YMMV depending on what you like. :)

  • I own the buds2 pro and the buds3 pro. The buds3pro definitely sound better and have better noise cancelling and ambient pass through. As they are a significantly different design the fit might be a bit subjective but I probably prefer the Buds2 pro fit slightly more than the buds3 pro fit. The buds3pro tips sometimes make a bit of a crackling/popping noise a few seconds after putting them in but that could be unique to me. I've also found the charging on the buds3pro to be a bit more sporadic and sometimes they don't seem to register on my wireless charger or one of the buds doesn't fully charge but the battery life itself seems quite long so it hasn't caused any issues.
