McDonald's Rewards Jacked to 3000 Pts

Just went to redeem a McDonald's reward, and guess what? They jacked up the points from 2500 to 3000. Seriously, why?? What was wrong with 2500? Did they think we wouldn’t notice? Just another way to squeeze more out of people for the same damn thing. Absolute joke.

Finally, an election issue worth talking about.

Ronald has child support to pay

  • The original worst thing was that you couldn’t get a large iced long black for 2500 points, then it just got worse

Looks like each item has gone up by 500 points.

Given that the points are a bonus, I'm not going to get upset over it.

Given that the points are a bonus

They should notify you and then only apply them to future points.

What they are doing is not that different from theft if you have already earned the points…

      • theft?

you could ask for a refund for what the points cost you.

          theft?

Yes, they are credit that belongs to you…

Theft is an exaggeration but I do think that just changing the rewards without any forewarning is pretty scummy.
I think the very least would be to notify in advance that the rewards are changing.
I don’t agree that just because it’s bonus points, they are free to change the terms whenever they feel like it with no notice whatsoever.
Like imagine if Everyday rewards just bumped up the points required to get $10 off by 20% without any warning

        Inflation.

        • Inflation.

          Inflation isn't running at 20%.

Inflation on McDonald's Rewards points obviously is!

why are you going maccas anyway? the food to satisfaction ratio is never good.

    • +1

Depends where you go and what you get.

Maccas is great comfort food and is pretty consistent.

McDonald's is perfectly fine if you're traveling somewhere and want decent food quickly. You know what you're going to get anywhere in the world. But I would never leave the house to eat there.

        • decent food

Im not sure i would call it decent food.

It is edible and can be delicious, but it is not decent or nutritious 😂

          What year is division?

        • Only if you've bought into the woke math they teach at indoctrination camps

  • They've also made it that you can only redeem one item per order.

    • Holy C***. Didn't notice that. I occassionally get fries or soft serve for kids hoping to earn enough points to have a small coffee but my dreams shattered to see this morning that I can no longer have a coffee on 2800 points. And they stopped doing deals on coffees too. !!!

    • That is the bigger issue here

Yes, Dutton will reduce the points back to 2500.

      • I've sent my mate Dutto an email to ask if he can sell 1 of his 3000 or so houses to help with my Maccas points 🤑

  • Seriously, why??

    You answered why….

    Basically just hidden inflation!

I bet the RBA will jack rates back up in April now. Inflation running hot!

It was good at first, if you bought a McMuffin and a coffee then every second or third coffee was free. Most likely this was the intention all along, start out very generous then slowly see how much you can enshittify it.

    • start out very generous then slowly see how much you can enshittify it.

With every 20% they devalue the rewards, I decrease my spending there by 80%

      • Thats ok, as long as you’re still spending they are winning 🫢

  • I'll cry when the $1 frozen Coke deal ends. 2 days left…

    • They only half fill them these days anyway….

      • My bigger problem is that they are sometimes too frozen so you need to wait ages for it to melt before you can drink it. Also frozen Coke Zero is often unavailable at my local Maccas, and I don't always want the regular sugared version.

You need to BYO your own plastic straw to get around it…

Inflation. McDonald's is probably generating hundreds of thousands of points per day and all of them are a liability. Inflate the liability away.

    • Modern Monetary Theory:

  • Honestly not much of an issue for me. I have multiple accounts and only redeem the good offers so it takes a while for the points to matter.

When it was 2500 points it was worth it, now I don't get spending 5500 pts on a large coffee when I regularly get a deal for $2.

If the points were more worthwhile I wouldn't have so many accounts lol. Just hurting themselves at this point.
