Thanks OP. I will grab one tonight.

    • +4

They'll go like hotcakes before then!

      • Haha yeah it out of stock.

  • +1

I wonder who they are price matching. All other varieties are $79

  • +3

This doesn't make up for my mum not buying me that Shrek 2 Xbox controller as a kid but it's the closest I'll get.

  • +1

My XBox X/S controller started to drift, even I don't use it a lot, not sure should I try it again.

    • +9

Have you tried playing Need For Speed? Perhaps the extra drift will be of use.

    • If it is under warranty, try getting it replaced.

If not, you can try soldering a 'drift fix' board. They are like a $1 each and the soldering is not difficult.

Any idea where to get it? Never do soldering before.

        • +1

          AliExpress

        • Do a search on aliexpress for 'drift fix' and you'll see hundreds of them.

You can see it on this youtube guide:

Obviously, don't buy from them. They are selling them for US$15 each or something stupid crazy.

    • Same here… end up going for a Hall Effect one

  • +1

Probably the best PC gaming controller available, too, at this price point.

    • +1

What about the 8BitDo Ultimate ones with hall effect triggers/sticks? OzB seem to like those

      • Don't the cost more than this? Even on special?

        • Hall effect joystick should get you much longer duration than normal in theory

    • No bluetooth adapter included though??

      • +1

many MB's have BT built in these days

        • Many, but not most.

          • @Mr Bob Dobalina: I don't think I've used a PC without Bluetooth in any context for at least a decade.

            • +1

              @caitsith01: My Intel B460 from 2021 doesn't have it.

              • +1

@Mr Bob Dobalina: I feel bad for you, I have a usb dongle lying around somewhere did you want me to send it to you ? I haven't had to use the usb dongle since most of mbs all have built in bluetooth…

      • +1

If your mobo doesn't have bluetooth, you can:

        • Buy a USB bluetooth dongle from Amazon
        • Buy an official receiver (more expensive but extra features like headphone support, slightly better latency/reliability for large living rooms etc)
        • If your PC is on a desk, just plug it in with any USB C cable

Aren't ps5 controllers better? I have an xbox one controller and the A button has always been a bit sticky. I'm pretty sure PlayStation controllers are now generally plug and play on pc.

      • +1

I prefer the PS config with both thumbsticks at the bottom. But between the PS4 and PS5 controller, I'd go with the PS4. The battery lasts way longer, and it feels much lighter.

As for PC, not quite. You'll need some third-party app to map the buttons to the Xbox controller. X input or whatever it's called.

The other way is to play games through Steam which will automatically map the buttons for you natively.

      • I have both.

PS5 controllers are better in a few games because they need gyro (Like Breath of the Wild via Cemu) or are Sony ports with special adaptive trigger features, etc.

There are also quite a few games now that show the correct Sony buttons onscreen in tutorials and such ("press 🔼" instead of "Press Y", etc)

For the rest Xbox (one/series) controllers are slightly better because those tutorials just automatically show the right buttons.

But that's not a huge advantage, you do get used to it if you use both controllers and get to know the layout.

However you will find many non-steam games (especially older games) that don't support the PS controllers at all, so you may have to add those to the steam launcher or download and setup free 3rd party software like DS4windows. A disadvantage for PS, but not a huge one.

For most people it'll come down to

        • Do you already own one of those consoles? Just use what you already have.
        • Do you like the shape/feel of one? Use that one.
        • Do you like the convenience of spare charged batteries ready to go so you can swap them out and keep gaming, or do you prefer the convenience of inbuilt battery and USB C charging?
      • Tbh, I own both DS4 and DSX controllers, and they work a treat for my PC and steam deck (and macbooks for GFN streaming). I've been thinking of getting a Flydigi Apex 4, but I really don't see the need.

I would very highly recommend paying for DSX on Steam. It works an absolute treat.
