Just sharpen them up with your Ozito grinder… ;)

    • +1

i find a mini chainsaw great for chopping up branches to put in the rubbish bin. it's going to last longer than 50 cuts :)

    • +4

Yeah that does not look like suitable blade material. Another review complained of the same thing, so perhaps some made it through with blades that were not tempered correctly…

I would ask Bunnings to replace the unit, or order replacement blades in.

      • +2

Thanks, I did just that. I showed Bunnings and they swapped over the unit. Hopefully no issues with the replacement fingers crossed

        • +2

woohoo! another 50 cuts from it

          • @c64: If anyone is interested my new shears quickly developed the same fault and notched up badly on the top blade. I returned them again.
Normally Ozito products are decent but their Cordless Pruning Secateurs are trash.

"perhaps some made it through with blades that were not tempered correctly…"

Mine ended up the same with just 10 cuts will take them back to Bunnings for a refund.

        • +2

          No fuss refunded today

    • +1

Hopefully just bad luck. I have had mine for over a year and have done literally many hundreds of cuts and they still look like new. Cutting mainly Photinia but some other shrubs etc and an orange tree.

Hopefully when you get another set they are good.

  • Perfect timing. Was looking for a inflator because of leaky tires. Thank you.

    • +1

Dude, you need a deal for new tyres!

  • Does any one know if any of these air pumps/inflators will pump up a paddle board. recommended pressure is 15PSI.

    • +2

      Yes, with caveats.

You'll need a mix of high volume to fill the bulk of it up to about 8psi, then the high pressure (I set mine to around 13-14psi).. the high pressure part takes forever, legitimately around 10 minutes with a 10'6" board

You also need to buy an adaptor for the board with a valve stem to connect to ($10-$20)

I did this for a few summers and I've decided it's better to either just use the hand pump, or fork out for a proper 12v one and inflate it at the car this one has a flow rate of 160l/min oppressed to the Ozito's.. 12

      • I was using the hand pump that came with the board but last time I took it out the hand pump failed. Was looking at getting this.

I wonder if what you posted is a better alternative

        • Hmm that might not be a bad buy though either with the high volume and deflate options too, limiting to use outside of water toys and mattresses though with the 20psi limit… I grabbed this shrader adapter which works well https://amzn.asia/d/3kjlcvM if you do want to go the traditional pump route

          • @AngryAlfred: Yeah I found that adapter and I like the idea of it being able to pump up tyres etc but the deflate option I would miss. I will have a think. Thanks for your advice.

Does that also inflate air mattress? Don't want to get two different inflators for tyres and things and air mattresses

    • +1

The two in one is this one. I own one and it works great.

      • cheers, thx mate

        • +2

Don't know if it's important to you or not, but I recommend looking around for a used version of the old model of this as it had an AC plug in the base so it could be used on mains too. The current model did away with that feature and kept the price tag

    • +1

Usually you want low pressure high volume for mattresses, this one is high pressure.
This is what you need - does both.

The normal cordless hedge trimmer is $89. Any discount?

  • +1

Do they usually match the blower?

  • Picked up the high pressure inflator in store today. Still had the old price tag on it but scanned $35 at checkout. Really like the tool and it's auto function, just set the air pressure, pull the trigger and walk away.

One thing I don't like is that the hose is quite rigid, short and non-removable. But hey for $35 it does the job, I can't complain.

  • Can I use the gift card to buy it online? Can I use onepass or powerpass with the gift card?

    • +1

Bunnings gift cards can only be used in store. Yes can use onepass, not sure about powerpass (probably no)

  • Is the high pressure inflator suitable to inflate a single and double inflatable kayaks?

    • +1

No. They are for high pressure applications such as tyres. A kayak needs a high flow pump.

  • +1

Give the Pruning Shears a miss, its slow, and I don't know if they used the wrong metal or forgot to harden the steel but its already chipped after pruning 1 rose bush.
Going back to my 2yr old handheld ARS pruner, blade is still like brand new after 2 years.

    Will be returning it tomorrow.

  • Damn it. I just bought the 199 lawn mower from Bunnings a few days ago. I wonder whether I can still return it. It's still packaged, so I reckon it should be fine..?

    • +1

      Yes, no issues at all.

      • Glad I did not return it! Turns out, the discounted Bunnings lawnmower got sold out in all of Sydney pretty quickly. I got an email telling me I'd get a refund for my online order. And the ALDI mower sold out in the morning it came to the shop… I went there around lunch time and it was all gone.

Went in today to Aldi to buy the 2.0Ah battery kit and turns out it is only the battery and not a kit. Battery and charger sold separately for $24.99 each.

    • Same here.
I bought the pole pruner and would have bought a battery kit if it were $25. Since I have a lot of Ozito batteries, I decided to purchase an adapter instead, and ordered one on Aliexpress.

      • Great idea. Is there a performance difference between the ozito and the aldi batteries given 20v vs 18?

        • +2

From my understanding, there is no performance difference between 20v and 18v.
I'll see how it goes when the adapter arrives.

          https://www.reddit.com/r/Tools/comments/1dxzb6x/drill_20v_vs…

          https://www.protoolreviews.com/20v-max-vs-18v-battery-power/

        • No, the batteries are the same. It's just marketing spin.

To add to what bgazer said / linked. The batteries use 5x cells in series to get the full voltage. The cells have a nominal voltage around 3.6V. So 5x 3.6V = 18V.

Nominal voltage is the voltage of the battery at 50% capacity. It varies from cell to cell, depending on the chemistry, but is around 3.6V to 3.7V for the sorts of cells in tools.

Some especially dodgy manufacturers use the full charge voltage (often around 4.2V), and call their tools 21V!

But they are all the same. The main thing that impacts performance is that the cells are rated for the necessary output, and are decent quality so will last many cycles without too much degradation. Ozito and Aldi cells are good in this regard. All the major brands are. Whereas the random unknown brands are typically junk quality cells.

      • I received the adapter today and found it not to fit.
The Ozito side clips securely, but the pins on the Ferrex side do not align so it does not slot completely into place.

I contacted Aliexpress and was sent a free return label. This is my first return with them, so I was surprised with the smooth return process. Will see how it goes.

        • Just buy the battery ffs

        • the description says they are for "Activ Energy" tools. must be different from "Xfinity"

  • Bunnings mower back to 329, as soon as they realised that the ALDI one got sold out within an hour or two.
