Best Value Mattress with Quick Delivery

Hey all,

Moving into an apartment next week and need to order a new mattress. Ideally want something that will be comfy enough (prefer a softer mattress) and can be delivered next day. Don’t want to spend a whole heap, what’s the ozbargain go to? Cheers

Facebook marketplace. Get the guy picking them up from hard rubbish in his clapped out old van to deliver.

    • Ikea mattresses fit the bill nicely

And OP can go into store and try them out first

You can do that with hard rubbish too….

That website almost looks better than Ozb dark mode.

I own a mattress factory and often recommend mattress companies (and mattresses) to people. The question 'Which mattress should I get?' is a similar vibe to 'How long is a piece of string? The answer is not so clear.

However the best I can do to keep it simple, is ask where you are geographically. This way I may be able to point you to a reputable mattress place. What you need to avoid is getting something that doesn't work, and then having a new nightmare, the mattress return process. It's not a wonderful experience getting a mattress delivered, but a mattress delivery is a blast compared to having to return one.

    Where do you live?

Melb. Not so much after a specific recommendation because I agree with what you say, more so a recommendation in terms of quality, service etc.

The comment below is a good one, for people in Melbourne that want a cheaper mattress,

"Went with a firmer one but love ours from melbourne mattress factory out in Dandenong."

        I always recommend this place.

      A 1m piece of string is 1m

      • You don't know how long a piece of string is without measuring it first.

Just like you don't know which mattress is comfy till you try it.

Which is where I think I was going with my analogy, although I understand it was a stretch to expect anyone to connect those dots.

        • +2

          If it's a stretch then it's no longer 1m ;)

The length of a piece of string is always twice half it's length.

      Not really…

    • The other half fell in love with a $3500 mattress at the store, how much of a ride would we be taken for if we buy it? https://www.comfortsleep.com.au/collection/sleep-prodigy-pla…

Some things in life are worth more than money of course, but I'd be interested in your perspective as someone who makes them.

Is there some je ne sais quoi that makes it better than a $2000 mattress?

      • +1

How much of a ride you would be taken for if you buy it is between you and your other half …

        • This is an excellent point

    • Agreed - we love out Ikea mattress. Feels as comfortable now as when we bought it about 5 years ago.

      • Which one did you get?

  • We spend a third of our lives asleep. Really shouldn't skimp on mattresses. Go out and shop, in person and find the model that gives you the best comfort. There is no "one size fits all" in mattresses.

If was in Sydney would have gone with ausbeds.

I've been known to give some pretty quick delivery on mattresses over the years.

  • Are you in Sydney? Check out Koala's Second Home

  • Visit HN buy a $5k mattress and they will deliver it same day.

    • Does this count?

      • Pocket sprung mattress, with latex extra firm

        no

  • wabbout dem boxed mattress thinggos

  • A mattress is the ONE thing I don’t try to get a bargain on. You spend half your life in bed, and longevity studies show that people who sleep better live longer.

We bought a Koala and it’s been the best mattress we have ever owned. Aussie owned and fast shipping. I get the best sleep now. Their entry level models might tick all your boxes

My advice is to spend a bit extra and to not skimp out on cheap mattresses: they’re cheap for a reason and you’ll have a spring poking you in the rib cage in no time.

Bought 4 mattresses off these guys over the last 10 years. 2 singles, 2 kings. All still in great condition.
Last one I bought late on a Sunday afternoon, delivered before 8am on the Monday.

  • We got a Koala box mattress from Costco and that is pretty good. They are on special at the moment as well. They do smell a bit strong when opened but it dissipates over a few days.
