Probably one of my fav mouses. I take it to work when hot desking cause those excel spreadsheets suck with anything else.

    • +8

The muted clicking is actually a noticeable improvement in a quiet office, or if you're doing something you're not supposed to while on a zoom call haha

      • +3

Yeh I didn't even realise it was a feature when I upgraded from the 2s. I was immediately impressed with how quiet it was. Went around with the old one and showed everyone the difference like the nerd I am.

    • +6

To provide a different opinion, this is my least favourite mouse. I've found it to lag, feel like a brick to move and the silent clicks to be very unsatisfying. For an office mouse with free-scrolling wheel, I much prefer my Triathlon 720, and a gaming mouse for anything else.

      • +1

It's not exactly light but it's accurate and long lasting. That scroll wheel rocks

      • +2

        💯% mate.
        125 Hz polling rate shudder

      • Yeah I’m with you on this. I previously bought one and I very much experience this lag when using it regardless of the device it’s connected to. Sometimes I’ll see a choppy mouse cursor on screen and other times it just doesn’t move for a few seconds. Kinda regret buying it…

        • not my experience at all.. perhaps where you put the receiver or your blu tooth was poor?

          • @Elijha: Nah, the receiver is with 30-60cm from the mouse and I don't use bluetooth connectivity. Not a good experience or ownership time unfortunately.

    • +5

Doesn't this have no onboard memory? How does it work with the Excel functions without the logitech software?

Incidentally, control + shift for horizontal scroll in Excel of nobody has found it yet.

    • You can just hold Shift + Ctrl to scroll horizontally in latest Excel.

  • +3

    Great price! Do I need a 3rd one? :)

    • +1

      Buy now, think later !!!

  • Amazing mouse! Have it over a year and highly recommend it

  • +2

surely we getem mx master 4 soon….

    • +2

      I’m waiting for it.
      HODL

    • Onboard memory + USB-C would do it for me.

      • This already charges using USB-C - unless you're talking about a wired mouse mode?

  • -1

Love this mouse, got the normal MX Master 3 mouse and was eyeing this for when I'm in the office

  • +4

Might finally be time to replace the MX master 1…

    • +2

Mine still working too but micro usb are such a pain in the age of usb c

      • -1

What I thought was slightly annoying was the unifying receiver that comes with the 3s is usb b and the charging cable they give you with the 3s is a USB B to C cable. Still slightly stuck in the pre usb c dark ages. 😂

  • +3

Just FYI, these don't come with built-in memory. So, if you like your thumb scroll to be inverse, only possible by installing software on every device you wish to use.

  • -2

I don't know why this mouse is so highly rated - the scroll wheel is looser than my ex-girlfriend

    • To add to my post above, the scroll wheel is unusually noisy, kind of defeating the purpose of the silent clicks (which are terrible). It honestly sounds like you're revving a car when you scroll fast.

      • +3

thats where you have to install the software to change the scroll type from click to smooth

    • -1

I've owned another Logitech mouse that people raved about. It also had that stupid speed scroll or what ever they call it.

Will never touch anything like it again.

      • +3

Hyperscroll? You can turn it off if you don't like it.

        • Except you can't really. The litte switch isn't as tactile/firm as a normal scroll wheel. So even when it's turned off the scroll wheel is still loose.

          • +2

            @PainToad: Yep, exactly THIS

          • @PainToad: I'm probably not exactly getting what you mean but in case I am. If you install the software you can adjust all scroll settings / lag / acceleration speed / scroll distance / turn off smart scroll etc. It's the first thing I did with the mouse as the default scroll behaviour was terrible.

            • @Name: I was using it on Linux so that software probably doesn’t exist. Shouldn’t really need to install bloat software to fix their crappy hardware.

But thanks for the tip, might dig it out of the cupboard one day :)

      • The other logitech mouse don't have the metal scroll wheel and they suck. Get the mx master 3s though. The only other mouse which has a great scroll wheel is the razer basilisk v3 pro.

    • +1

      Can confirm….about the ex girlfriend

  • Shame no good cashback or other discounts to staack with. Was hoping for a new ATL.

    • +1

You could price match at Officeworks for another 5% off

  • -1

    Good one. Get it

  • How is the durability of these mouses? Especially the switches

I had one of these types of mouses from Logitech a long time ago, it started double clicking within 1-2 years. Quite bad, considering I've had much cheaper mouse that lasted a lot longer

Seems these use a weird looking kind of switch, that probably wont be as easy bending it back into shape.

    • +2

Had the MX master 1 for almost 10 years now.

but this one (3S) does have silent switches compared to the older models.

      • The silent switches on these are quite a bit different compared to prior mouses.

They are optical rather than mechanical. Probably less likely to have clicking issues from what I've read.

Deteriorating rubber on these seem a bit nasty though

        • +2

I bought the mx master 2s which started malfunctioning due to a common problem in the rubber grip. Had to tear it out and it worked for a while, before the left click started misclicking. Then switched to the mx master 3s. Worked well for 1.4 years before the left click started malfunctioning. Turns out that's a common problem too. Not happy so have decided to try my luck with razer or keychron.

          • @raziel: Hmm, that's kinda worrying.

I think I'm wrong about this having optical switches, seems to be mechanical. The form factor of these switches are quite unfamiliar to me, probably requires soldering if anything goes wrong.

I might look into some of the razer stuff too, their optical switches seem to be well regarded

            • @Butt Scratcher: Yes. The sad part is that I really liked the mouse while it worked. That's why I went for the 3s when the 2s started misbehaving - figured they'd have ironed out the kinks and it would be even better. Again, it was great while it worked, just didn't last. In my experience, older, more basic logitech mice have been rock solid, so it's disappointing that their newer, premium models can't even get their switches to last.

Also, I'm intrigued by the razer basilisk, but the comparable model (v3 pro/v3 pro 35k) is more than double this, which doesn't seem worthwhile to me, so unless there's a significant sale, I'll probably end up going for the keychron m6 next.

              • @raziel: Nice, the keychron m6 looks great from a quick look!

Yeah, i was looking at the v3 pro too. Cheapest i found was around ~$176 with ebay plus, still a little too steep. Definitely would need to wait for a deep sale

    • +4

I have 2x mx 3 mice, they are fine the rubbers where your thumb goes are no longer textured, the left mouse button is also worn but both work fine.

      • +2

Yeah, search "MX Master rubber", and you'll see it's the biggest issue with this mouse - my MX Master (1) has a gaping hole in the side of it, where the rubber has just disintegrated and cracked. (The mouse still works fine, and I still use it - just lost the use of the gesture button, because its cracked open where the button is/was!).

I just got an MX Master 3S, and have put a sticker skin set on it (from Aliexpress), to prevent this from happening. Will just replace the skins whenever they need.

    • +2

First one lasted me 2 years. The left button died. Apparently a common issue according to google. No solution yet and obviously put of warranty.

But it was too good of a mouse so I bought a second. Rip.

    • Really bad - it is designed to have issue after 1-2 years. Surface of it start bubbling after ~1.1 yr and logitech basically say there is nothing they can do, please buy a new one.
Not meet expectation for mouse at this price TBH.

  • Wasn't this $80 with student beans?

    • +3

      Not everyone a student here

      • -2

        Just request a code

        • iirc is account based not code based

          • -1

@Zuelly: then why is there a code share megathread?

            • @belongsinforums: And you see how many posts I have in that main thread…

You activate it with a code like ‘STUDENTB20’ after clicking the link in the app.

  • +1

    Does officeworks match Amazon?

    • +1

      Yes.

  • There’s a new model coming soon. I spoke with Logitech when these started going on sale. No details just was told it’s coming soon.

    • been hearing this for the past 2 years.

  • -5

Good to note that this is the PC version, NOT MAC.

    • -1

It's unhinged that something like a mouse isn't cross compatible

    • +2

I don't know why the same people constantly downvote me on every single comment I make, it doesn't do anything :)

      • +4

Because your statement is wrong. This version is compatible with Mac. The Mac version probably just means the white colour

        • If you google it, there are two different models. This model linked above and a seperate model made specifically for Mac. It even says on the packaging

          • @Meowstronaut: The Mac version is white and doesn’t have a dongle included in the box.

There is no difference in the hardware at all. This one will work the same on a Mac.

          • +2

@Meowstronaut: The only difference with the Mac model is the colour of the mouse. Software, hardware is exactly the same.

If you read the specs for the standard MX Master 3S you will see that Logitech state it is compatible with Mac. I own 3 of the standard model that work with both PCs and Macs. They perform the same on both platforms.

      • Sorry, my fault. You didn't mean that. I think other downvoted people made the same assumption as I did

  • Is this good for people with wrist pain?

    • +2

good. in the way that it will keep giving the pain, not reducing it

i heard that some people like pain thats why i dont judge

    • not really as it is heavy

    • I'd probably get the MX lift / vertical deal if you have wrist pain.

  • Excellent mouse, got one last time

  • Wonder if i need a backup…

  • Can anybody comment on what this is like versus the 3?

My rubberised coating is coming off my 3

  • +3

I want to buy this every time it pops up. But I have the first generation of this style mouse that I picked up when the Dick Smith physical Stores closed down. Thing is still going fine and I honestly want to see how long it's going to keep going

  • +1

Bought this yesterday at $105, thankfully it hadn't shipped yet and i was able to cancel and re-order.

  • +1

How good can a mouse really be ozb?? FINE, I'll get one.

    • I think so. The (for Mac) might just be the colour name

  • The white works says its for mac. Surely it will work with Windows as well?

    • Yes I have a white Mac one and it works for windows. It looks great but needs to be cleaned often It gets dirty looking pretty quickly compared to the graphite one.

  • Ordered to replace a MX Master 2S (which replaced a Performance Mouse MX). Thanks OP

  • +1

Had two and both failed with double-click issue, logitech did f`all about it.

  • Is this for gaming?

    • +5

      Anything but, lol

Heavy and super slow 125Hz polling rate

I switch between this and a G305 if I'm doing productivity stuff or gaming, respectively

      • the G502 X is also on sale https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/893537

      • I have a Logitech G502 LIGHTSPEED and a Logitech MX Master 3S… Bought the lightspeed and hated it for productivity and end up running back to the 3, now it sits on my desk and i use it when i remember to when gaming.

Wish they would release a MX Master 4 with an option to boost the polling rate to something acceptable for gaming, It would be nice to be able to switch between gaming and battery saving. Just bought a new 3S as mine is around 5 years old, it's really worn and the battery lasts about 1-2 days.

Edit: Apparently my current one is a MX Master 3, not the 3S

    • Basilisk v3 or G502 X for gaming.

  • Been eyeing one for ages… It's time to pull the trigger!

  • Bought mine for $90. Good office mouse due to its shape but is very heavy

  • guess a new generation is coming

  • +1

Price matched at Officeworks for another 5% off - thanks OP!

  • +1

Had my mx 3 break just after a year. Had the red light flash, New battery didn't fix it.

Bought a rapoo mt760, pretty much 90% of this mouse minus the magnet scroll and gesture/software. Better dpi and polling though. If you're on the fence with this mouse that's a good alternative at about $45

  • +1

Perfect mouse. Got it for $84 from Officeworks today. They price match with no hassle and another 5% off.

  • Bought this to replace double clicking issues I had on my G703.

It came today, but instantly returning it. My experience coming from a gaming mouse, and wanting to have a more office mouse, was completely opposite to reviews:
    • I have big hands, but I can't comfortably rest my palm on the table as the mouse is quite high.
    • It did not glide smoothly, kept getting caught on my mouse pad.
    • This is a very heavy mouse - this might just be an adjustment but don't see how a heavier mouse is going to help with ergonomics.
    • Requires it's own software (Logi Options+)
    • The scrolling was bad, even switching between the smooth scrolling and ratchet/hyper options it just felt clunky sometimes moving only a tiny amount of lines then huge amount of lines.
    • It had intermittent lag that was instantly noticeable
    • Would have to get used to accidently not hit the side scroll button as it made me sit my thumb wider than usual

Still a great deal for the features it has.

  • Showing as $101 now :(

  • Just received my new one today, noticed the left and right click is way more quiet now (nearly inaudible) compared to my older 3s. However it also is less tactile.
