So what about the $800 maximum Voucher penalty for cancelling early? I'm not sure many ppl want or need to pay $99/m for a mobile phone plan.

    • -3

Looks like cancelling the contract does not work anymore to get a deal. You have to repay the voucher prorata. NO $800 maximum !!!

From the T&Cs: "If you cancel or move to a lower cost/different plan then you must pay a Voucher Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan’s minimum term"

So in the end it is just a subsidised phone … but with over $2376 plan payments over the 24 months … no deal for me!

There is 800 maximum. Saw it yesterday in T&Cs while signing up to preorder deal

          $766 + 99 coz prorataed.

@Flutterby: I was refunded the $99 first month plan fee twice last year.

            • @jimojr: Hit n miss. Most people couldn't get it.

              • @Flutterby: I would argue that most people got it refunded, and at the tail end of that promo they stopped refunding people.

                • @CodeXD: If not refunded can you try anothet agent similar to ehat happeend here with boost before

              • +1

@Flutterby: They didn’t try hard enough. It took me 3 attempts to successfully get a refund on my second sign-up.

            • @jimojr: Do you ask the staff in the store or call 13 50 75.

              • +1

@owen14d: Once the first month's plan fee is cleared in your bank, you can chat with Telstra in the app or online to request a refund.

          • @Flutterby: Still good!

      • The maximum voucher repayment fee is still $800. They haven't changed T&C's.

        • This is written in the document or page you shared.

What happens when I cancel my plan early?

You’ll need to repay Telstra for any vouchers you received when you purchased your plan. The Voucher Repayment Fee (if applicable) is pro-rated, equal to the total amount of the base voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by months (or part months) remaining in your plan term.

So tiring with people posting this every time when they have NFI what they're talking about

  • $200 bonus coupon if you trade in a device.

    • +1

And Cancel the contract after you have the phone.

      • This is the way

      • Do you need to go to the JB store to cancel the contract?or Telstra store?

        • to go to the JB store to cancel the contract?or Telstra store?

I didn't buy but as I understand you just need to online chat with Telstra to cancel the contract but most said better wait until you received the phone, refund of the first month will be a bit hard.

So this would work out to around ~$1500 with a -49 credit rating hit?

  • Ive been told by an inhouse jbhifi rep that if you cancel the contract it could affect your credit score/history
Does anyone know anything about this ?

    • Yes. So are the credit churning ones.

Just don't apply for a mortgage.

    • Wonder if they get commission 😉

      • +2

They do. I asked a young fella last time I signed up, he was new into the role so he didn't mind telling me. Lucky dude got commission for 3 phones.

      • I actually was shown by one of the guys instore their commission. Wont say store but they get NO Commission on selling phones only on selling the plans.

The commission on the 99 a month plan is $35 and it goes down for the lower plans.

Also the commission they get on tv sales etc. Is quite small (in my opinion) for example on a TCL i bought last year he showed me the salesman only made about $40 commission.

    • Shit that's a problem if true….fckn up credit rating for 1000 bucks…well not worth it. Especially for those with mortgage/s and want to to refinance for cashbacks upto 3k per year and if that refinancing will be affected for eg?

      • I found out that its just the enquiries that are added to a persons credit history.
Not a black mark unless you dont pay whats owed when you port out or cancel

  • Ask JBHIFI to price match Digidirect price of $2103 for 512GB. If lucky to price match, then out of pocket in store would be $203 (minus your trade in device value). Rest you guys all know what to do later.

    $2103 - $1700 - $200 (trade in bonus) = $203

    https://www.digidirect.com.au/samsung-galaxy-s25-ultra-512gb…

    • Don't see why not coz the gift card is a credit voucher.

    • Would they match the price since it's in Waiting For Stock status?

    • I got rejected price match before when signing up to this. Kinda shitty move since the manager stepped in last minute and denied it.

If this happens just take the voucher and go to another jb store

      Can someone explain the deal?

  • +2

I just made a spreadsheet with the price breakdowns with the new deals and maximum repayments https://imgur.com/a/F7L64Nh

I'm not sure why there is no deal for the S25+ on the $99 plan. Also note that your trade in value will differ.

From this I think that the S25+ on the $99 plan is the best value.

  • I am a bit confused.

So you pay $99 for the first month then cancel the plan and you pay Voucher repayment fee which seems to be $766.67 plus 99 = 865.67 Plus $437= 1,302. Did I get the voucher repayment fee correct? Then you pay the $437 upfront the difference between $2,137 - 1700 = $437 unless you are trading in something. After trade in it's around $900?

    • Correct. Plus JB have a trade in bonus of $200 for the S25U which can stack with this deal.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/893422

      • Sweet. But you have yo it at store, i am assuming? Can i cancel via chat? Also the website say $200 bonus can't be used in the same transaction, what's the work around?

  • Does cancellation with $800 repayment (+99) definitely work or is it subject to approval by telstra?

  • So if the bonus $200 trade in stackable with this deal and I am looking at S25U 1TB costing $2737

    $2737 - $1700 - $810 (Trade in S24U 512) - $200 trade in bonus = $27 payable to JB + the ongoing $99 fees (which I am paying now anyway claimable from company)

Then I believe the Tax Invoice would show the full $2737 amount which I can claim back tax.

Am i correct in my calculation / understanding?
