I think that is the older model. Newer model's code is MD031X/A.

    • Yup, this MC340X/A is the generation 4 model released in Oct 2009. (MD031X/A is the latest generation 5 model released in Jun 2011.)

  • I believe you meant to link to this instead in your OP: http://store.apple.com/au/product/MD031X/A/airport-extreme-b…

But as noted above, that is the latest Airport Extreme, not the previous model that MAC1 is selling here. :)

    • Link from OP is for the Express….

      • Thats soakwashrinsespin's point. The OP listed a price and name for the extreme and linked to the express.

  • So the airport extream mac1 selling is the old gen, what is the diff between new?

    • comments from apple website "The 5th generation AirPort Extreme Base Station is MUCH more powerful than the 4th generation model. My wireless speeds have more than doubled since swapping out for this new 5th generation model.

The FCC database results confirmed the 2x-3x power output increase, which easily explains the performance increase. Just Google "MD031LL/A" and links to their database results should appear.

So YES, it's worth the upgrade and you will easily see a speed/range increase, especially in other rooms of your house or apartment that don't have line of sight to the device."
