I always take my RAV 4 Toyota to Toyota Service Centre. I wonder if it is cheaper or better to do it in other places? Anyone?
It only has around 48k km and 8 years old.

That is the problem. All my friends are as noob as me on cars
If you tell us where you are, maybe someone here might be able to suggest a mechanic.
In NSW West
@welcomeUniverseWorld: Cameron Corner?
@MS Paint: Anywhere between Cameron Corner and MacCabe Corner is certainly west…
Maybe the OP's actual location is a town so small that they're worried they'll be recognised?
@pjetson: I'm guessing it's probably Lithgow. That's where most Sydneysiders think NSW ends.
@MS Paint: Lithgow is a beautiful place. Do stop by sometimes. I love it there
@pjetson: Thank you. It is NSW West :)
@welcomeUniverseWorld: Literally everything past the Blue Mountains is NSW West.
.
Ask anyone from Broken Hill.
@MS Paint: No mate. Not close to your home. Unfortunately
Next service get a quote from the stealership then ring around a few independents. If the price delta isn't that big then just stick with what you know.
Actually did that when the Commodore was newer. Holden service folk were overpriced and useless. Turned out Toyota servicing was cheaper than Holden so i went there. They were still a bit useless (stuffed up a coolant flush) but cheaper. 👍
Depends how much the service is? My Toyota services are approx $285 every 6 months. That's reasonable enough to stick with dealer.
Are you still in the fixed price time?
Nope, 2014 model. Just make sure to book online rather than calling up. There's a 10-20% price difference booking online. Major milestone services are more expensive of course.
Both cheaper and better not impossible but would be a rare find.
my 2019 rav 4 hybrid just finished our 5 year capped price servicing of $288 a year.
Next service quoted close to $600, only reason I am staying is for engine and driveline warranty to 7 years and battery warranty to 10 years

It is not enforceable to lock a car warranty behind servicing the car at the dealership, you can have it serviced anywhere
I think the extra hybrid battery warranty is contingent on an annual inspection by Toyota.
The joys of a hybrid. Still have to pay for servicing with the added benefit of having to get your battery inspected.
I think when I move to electric. I'll just stick to battery only EVs
@ricadam: If it makes financial sense then yes.
One brand of EV is charging $400 a year for servicing and that is fixed price for 1st 5 years. Wonder what it would be further on.
Tesla service on demand kind of makes sense but then you probably still need to get any car checked around every 2 years or if you do high kilometres.
So what did you do?
48k miles
eh ? miles or km ?
anyway, if it is out of warranty you can go to your trusted independent mechanic, it is a Toyota anyway so nothing much to be done
It only has around 48k miles and 8 years old.
Did you get an American or UK import!? We don't have miles.
Km bro.. km.. Damn
My advise, DIY. Mechanics are shonks. Go in for a break replacement next thing you know your generator is stuffed and you need a new battery.😜
I already had the battery replaced in last servicing . The last one lasted about 7+ years.
Decided to continue with Toyota Service as it is. Definitely no need to (profanity) around to find out when I have little knowledge about some things. There are reasons why we delegate works to others and be expert on some things only. Thanks everybody
Broken Hill Toyota it is then.
That was my thinking, but it seems the OP doesn't want to tell.
Broken Hill fun fact - they are in the NSW but operate on SA time zone.
@MS Paint: The time zone follows the S.A. border but curves out to include the Broken Hill area.
Also road assist is South Aus as is T.V. shows, news, etc.
Sadly, all govt, etc. is N.S.W. and if you go to uni you live away from home.
N.S.W. get's too much from Broken Hill to let it go to S.A.
@Chris Topher: Perhaps Barmah in Vic should be moved to NSW as it's the only Victorian town north of the Murray River.
If you are happy with the service and you don't feel ripped off then keep going there.
Where ever that is…
Perth?
Cape Town
Once it's out of any decent introductory servicing deals you're just going to get ripped off with dealer servicing.
The only good reason to do dealer servicing is because they will pick up any parts recalls and software upgrades. Either that or you have no clue where else to go.
You do need to have an actual decent mechanic to go to instead. You'd need to ask around with friends to see if you can find someone trustworthy, otherwise you risk getting ripped off even more.
