15A 😂 it's like selling a car and putting "note: only works on water"

Selling an electrical appliance and saying it requires a 15Amp mains socket instead of the standard 10Amp mains socket is not quite the same as your analogy.

  • so we have to buy a seperate plug or something? :/

    • +1

You need to have a 15A outlet. It won't plug into the usual 10A outlet

No, just unplug your regular oven.

Who tf makes a consumer air fryer that draws 15A 😆

    • +1

      Idiots lol

  • If it actually uses 15A wouldn't everything just come out black?

    • +1

No it's means it draws more than 2400w which is a 10 amp power socket everything cooks normally .

  • Yikes, I ordered this around 6hrs ago without reading the whole description.
Who woulda thought a kitchen appliance needs extra plugs!
I google it, so I need to purchase this (and do some cutting cables and attaching)?

Does anyone have this unit to confirm?

    • If you're going to burn your house down you might as well save your $6.80 and just grind the pin to fit.

      • The trick is you file out the earth receptacle on the plug, not grind the earth pin down.

Legally, and for safety, the ONLY option. I cant imagine how they can sell these. Who has a 15 amp outlet in their kitchen? Unheard of. In a garage maybe.

    • +4

No! The description in the ad calls for a 15Amp plug but what they mean is, it requires a 15Amp mains socket to fit the 15Amp plug that the appliance has. You will need a 15Amp mains socket, which some houses have pre fitted, or get one installed by an electrician.

    • Thats the wrong plug. You need to replace the 10amp powerpoint that is screwed into the wall. And.. the wiring within the wall that also may be only 10 amp. All of which, in Australia, can only be legally done by an electrician.

Make sure your circuit breaker is working! The air fryer will probably work fine on most functions, but up towards the higher heating range on both baskets will draw too much and either:
      A) trip the circuit breaker
      B) if circuit breaker is faulty, cause a fire

You really need a 15 amp circuit installed by a sparky.

    • I don't think you should ever attempt to draw 15A on a 10A rated socket. Unless if you hate your house

  • $95 now? Not that I was going to buy

      Discount applied at cart.

  • Purchased this from Myer a while back because we actually have a 15 amp outlet. The item received was not 15 amp and was returned.

    This is the Myer link

If this was legit 15amp, I want one as a dual basket airfryer at 2,800w would be amazing!

    • Hi, What amp was it?

      • 10 amp.

        • So it was a regular normal plug we see on an appliance?

          • @ezza: Yes, which is a 10amp plug

            • @Romen: Amazing.. I hope this arrives like this!

              • @ezza: I'm hoping the 15amp one exists and someone wants to on sell it to me haha

                • @Romen: Well if I do end up getting the 15amp model delivered, I'll msg you and you can buy it off me.
Although I'm hoping for the 10amp regular plug.

    • Considering buying as there seems to be a reasonable chance it does not in fact have a 15Amp plug…

  • btw Catch.com.au is closing down and will stop selling products on April 30, 2025.

  • Received mine and would like to make a note to potential buyers of this in the future as the description on catch is incorrect:

It is a standard mains 10Amp plug device. i.e. will fit any Australian mains outlet (not 15Amp as claimed)
2000W power (not 2800W as claimed)

So far I am very impressed and happy with mine. Cooking times are almost half that of the air fryer it has replaced. Build quality is quite decent, looks good and display is large & clear.

Currently selling for $145 and if it comes up again under $100 I'd highly recommend it. This, now expired, deal at under $60 was a steal IMO.

    • Mine came with a 15amp plug (I'm no expert in plugs, but the earth plug was larger and did fit in a standard wall outlet).
I sent mine back without even attempting to try it.

      • If it fit in a standard wall outlet then it is 10Amp. A 15Amp plug earth pin is elongated and therefore too big to fit into a 10Amp socket.

        • It didn't fit, the bottom prong didn't go all the way in, and the 2 prongs on the top were sticking out of the wall socket.

          • @ezza: I suspect you did not push it in firmly enough. A 15Amp plug will not even allow you to get any of the prongs into the socket at all. The earth prong is elongated vertically, not lengthways, therefore will just rub on the plastic of the wall outlet before the upper two prongs have a chance to go in.

            • @Karijini: Honestly I felt it was going to be forced in and gave up quickly when I saw the 2 prongs on top not going into the outlet like other devices.

Is bottom prong on yours also a bit longer in length compared to the 2 top prongs?

              • @ezza: Yes the earth prong is longer on all Australian three prong plugs, both 10Amp and 15Amp, that is normal. It ensures grounding prior to any active prongs. As a lot of devices no longer have an earth prong it may seem unusual that a little extra force may be required to drive it home.

                • @Karijini: It didn't look right to me.. so it went back as a return ;-/
