I've been noticing for the past couple of years Pixel and Samsung flagship deals are always best during pre-order period which usually gives us almost ~40-50% off RRP(Just need to search the best deal on Ozb here). Even during boxing day, black friday, cyber monday, EOFY, etc they are almost never as cheap as pre-order sales. Most times buying a previous generation phone will cost you more than buying a newly released phone during pre-order period.
This is the complete opposite with iPhone where they want to retain their phone value as long as possible, even by not allowing retailer to sell their phone below RRP.
On the good side I've always able to switch to new phone every year without needing to spend any money on it. I could always sell my S24 ultra for the same price as I buy my S25 ultra.
On the bad side, if I urgently need a phone for whatever reason, then I will basically be overpaying their over inflated RRP or I need to switch to iPhone to avoid overpaying.
Also, I thought of how good of a deal for Pixel and Samsung during pre-order period, but after a couple of years of the same pattern I just realized how over inflated Samsung and Pixel phones prices are. I believe if you are not getting at least 30% off RRP for Pixel or Samsung flagship phones, you are just over paying. If you are paying RRP, better to just get an iPhone instead.
Isn't switching between Apply and Android ecosystem a big hassle?
