Ordered Samsung film and a couple of cases. Got them 40% off or something like that. Not worth retail pride IMO

      • How is the film compare to the protection glass?

        • I’ve had it for the z fold 6, and it’s been fine. Doenst feel like your typical plastic films - but not as tactile as glass. I would say it’s just ok but if you’re really looking for a glass feel get those of eBay or amazon. They’re going to be a lot cheaper than the ones in jbhifi etc

          • @ffagz: How effective is its anti-reflective quality? Is the AR coating holding up well or degrading quickly?

  • Telstra refusing my refund for the $99, stating that it was charged from JBHIFI and to ask them.

    • +1

Unless they've changed the policy in the past few days i think they're giving you BS. Everyone who got refunded did it through telstra directly.

    • can confirm it is BS. Telstra are the only ones that operate the mobile side for JB and they do the refunds.

  • Also, it's crazy to me that Mobile Monster is only offering $1350 for a new sealed S25 Ultra. My iphone 16 PM is worth $1530 and it's 3 months old! haha

    • Couple of days ago it was $1990 for 512gb ultra

      • Maybe it'll go back up once all the promos are over

      • +1

Pro tip, ask the Ebay online chat people for a free no final fee listing, they have provided me a couple in the past year but I had to ask. I have been a member for over 10 years though.

    • What do you expect? Full Retail price? They have to make a profit.

  • What sort of discount we could expect on S24 ultra once S25 is available?
I cant decide which way to go….

  • +4

Thank you OP for the post and all the comments here. Ended up getting the S25 Ultra 512 for $979.

    S25 Ultra cost: $2137
    Add: $99 first month charge
    Less: $1700
Less: $200 (preorder coupon by JB)
Add: $766 termination fee (confirmed by Telstra and invoiced)
Less: $99 first month refunded through live chat

= $237 payment to JB Hifi (less $23.70 by paying via discounted gift cards) + $766 ET payment to Telstra
    = $979

Now to book an international trip within 60 days and get a further $176 back from TRS

      • I think it will be $176. Have to divide $1937 by 11 to get the GST amount.

      • +1

Did they refund the $100? what did you say? I've tried twice now. I'm stuck because now they just keep reviewing the previous chat that shows they said no.

        • +3

Why worried, it is just $99 you already got an expensive phone for less than half price. Just happy and enjoy it. Gezz

          • +2

@Dumpshid: The spirit of ozbargainers is to save every penny. Profit will need to be made even if the phone is free.

            • -1

@fatice: That is BS spirit. If the busines can't survive, you will not have nice things in Australia. You should learn how to be enough.

              • @Dumpshid: Beeroppp. Wrong. You need to understand how the retail industry works and or other marketing strategies. The fact is you can buy this device form Samsung direct at significant discount. Samsung would not sell it if they were losing money, and also the fact that the uninitiated sheep would pay retail (I was one such paying fool/full price for Samsung smartphones years ago). JBHIFI is just the same as well, they get subsidy/kickback from Samsung/Telstra and by numbers they know a portion will maximize the gains, while others (mostly the uninitiated) will not cancel their lines, but rather keep them (as I had done years ago). If they were going out of business they wouldn’t offer this. Retailers like Jb follow loss maker strategies for such devices, their main margin is in accessories/extras which they try to sell you.

          • -1

@Dumpshid: It's more that if Telstra are refunding some, they should refund everyone the $99 who asks. Why are they being selective?

            • @Meowstronaut: Not happy? Don't sign up with them then. Grow up and suck it up.

              • @Dumpshid: You seem to be the Angrybird who joined OzBargain yesterday, making six comments all in the same tone. Are you, by any chance, a Telstra rep ?!!

                • +2

@EssendonUser: No, i am not. I signed up this deal as well 😁. I have a limit of how to take advantage of discount. I am not greedy. If business survive, people will have good deals like this all the time. For me $99 is nothing when you can save $1700 from the deal. Don't abuse system too much.

              • +1

@Dumpshid: you clearly don't understand the point of this thread… we are here to get the best deal.

                • +2

@Meowstronaut: People is getting too greedy and that become disgusting. That why not many brands will bring good and top models to Australia market. Top end models will go to US market and us get a shitty model.

                  • @Dumpshid: okay, people are getting too greedy, yet here YOU are on that exact website.. make it make sense.

                    • +1

@Meowstronaut: Yes, i am looking for a good deal. I signed up this deal as well but i played by their rules. I used $200 code from JB, paid $99 for first month, paid $766 early temination and get $1700 off.

Not bothering to beg or lie to get $99 back. I asked JB staff to throw in a free 45w charger and he is happy to do it so i am happy. Win Win for both end. Easy

                      • +2

@Dumpshid: I agree with you that some people are just really greedy, some are buying multiple phones which I'm sure its no longer for personal use but rather for re-selling purposes. Once someone share some shady tricks on a public forum then its only a matter of time before lots of people abusing it.

            • @Meowstronaut: Depends on the agent. Some are being *ricks others want a good kpi and keep customer happy. It doesn’t come out of the agents pocket. It’s an ego/power game for some of these agents. I’ve had 50-50 success with refunding the first month fee over the 8 or so cancellations over the years

            • +1

@G-rig: I love good deals like other people but i want to let them know if they go too far, deals like this will be gone.

I am sure Telstra knew about this loop hole but they don't care to fix, i guess they don't lose money from this but if we keep asking a refund, they might start losing some income. That when they start fixing the issue.

        • I just kept pressing. They denied me two times (in the one chat) but i kept saying i didn't use the sim at all. They eventually gave in and gave me the refund. Gotta stay persistent haha

    • Return the phone for a 1923$ go maybe? Would be an uber hack.

      • technically yes you could do this as i have in previous deals, although you will get eyeballed by the manager as a no shame ozbargainer hahahah

        • Why though? If it’s legal then doesn’t matter to them. They still got you as a customer as the gift card can’t be used anywhere else. Eventually they’ll get you on a stupid (high margin) purchase anyway

    • Thanks for sharing. Can I know where to get the $200 preorder coupon code you mentioned "less: $200 (preorder coupon by JB)". Did it apply the discount $200 automatically when you walked into the store? Or need an formal email about the code from JB hifi?

      • This was a pre-order coupon that you had to register for through jb hifi website. I believe you can't get one now unless you get it from someone in ozbargain.

  • Can i still do this after canceling my s24ultra deal last year from telstra??

    • You need to pay the early termination fee for your existing plan when porting out to Aldi. There is a 30-day waiting period to be eligible for this offer when you port back to Telstra. However, enforcing this depends on the JB staff. I did mine from Good Guys Mobile -> Aldi -> JB. You need to pay the termination fee before taking a new connection if it's above $399.

      • Thanks. Even if we canceled this one?

  • Question for those that cancelled, did you sign into the JB Mobile app at all prior to the cancellation?
I've not used the sim but its referencing checking into that account to track order etc. Are there any different terms listed in there that vary from the basic email from Telstra which provides the CIS with max $800. Weighing up ensuring I have the phone in hand before cancelling and just take the $99 hit to be sure there's no complications on collection.

  • Has anyone signed up for a second plan after cancelling a first plan ? A few days after ? Any complication with doing so ?

  • Just purchased S25Ultra 512GB from JB. Managed to get the deal for $1900 off. Tried to get the $30 off $300 perks deal but at the last minute turned out in the small print to exclude pre-orders. Still great deal and managed to connect to Telstra chat and cancel the plan. I was promised the $99 refund but as my initial payment of $99 still had not fully cleared on their system i need to call back on the chat for the refund. Took screen shots of the promise and also got a reference number for the chat. So hopefully should have $99 back soon. Also latest update from my JB on their screens was phones will be ready for pickup on the 4th Feb.

    • +3

Just did the same S25 Ultra 512GB Titanium Blue. Got the $1700 + $200 off and used my previous JB gift card to pay the balance of $237. Was told the phone will be ready to pick up on the 4th Feb. Went home and used the Telstra app chat to cancel without putting the new SIM into my phone. I asked about the refund of $99 (which is still pending), was initially told unable to refund. I said I haven't used the service yet then was told now the refund can be provided. Received a cancellation invoice of $766.59 to be charged on 13th Feb, also SMS and email for the refund of $99, both immediately during the chat.

Total cost is $237 + $766.59 = $1003.59 plus will be claiming back $176 ($1937/11) TRS next month.

      • Awesome that you managed to get the $99 refund at the same time. Mine wouldn't process the refund until the payment had cleared first. Got the cancellation email but have to go back to the chat when the $99 has cleared at their end.

      • If you bring the phone back to Australia after claimging TRS, do you pay gst on the full amount of the amount above the threshold of 900?

    • Which JB store was it? for $1900 off

      • +1

        $1700 off with plan
        $200 off with code

        total $1900

  • +3

I spoke with JB chat this afternoon about pre-ordering. He said pick up is 4/2/25! Will order tomorrow in store. Now to find a case on Amazon.

    • Case on Amazon is overpriced. Better look at Temu or Aliexpress.

        • Didnt know there is $50 min delivery on Temu, maybe waived for new user. Ordered 2 cases and 3 screen protectors for $16 in total, placed order on 24th Jan and now arrived Brisbane

          • @Leonard0880: I bought all these for a little over $40

            https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/46868/119494/screensho…

The Encased case is selling about $70 on the official website for other phones
The magnetic wallet (encased case has a magnet) is selling about $12 from other sellers

I buy from amazon because if anything breaks (yea, including screen protectors haha), they will refund.
            Temu is hit and miss

              • @G-rig: Got it for my gym membership card.
Looking at the back of my s23U, the wallet should not block the camera

                • @easternculture: Ok depends where the magnet is in the wallet and may only block the bottom camera but let us know how you go!

I have my gun card in my digital wallet on the phone.

                  • @G-rig: Confirming wallet does not cover camera and magnet is very strong.
Wallet is very high quality and stitching is perfect.
Case seems to be better quality compared to my otterbox defender

Edit: just bought 2 more wallets as spares

  • I'm really struggling with getting an operator in the cancellation team that is willing to refund the $99 first month fee… four attempts and no success yet. They're all copy/pasting the same few paragraphs with "Please be advise that we will not be able to refund the first payment upon cancelling the service."

    • +1

Same! I've had no luck so far.

      • They are telling me to contact JB to get a refund of the $99 but also sighting the same info

  • -1

What reason do people give for cancelling? And you are cancelling same day and before youbreceive the phone? Thanks

    • Cost of living, is that the usual BS?

    • +1

Reason: I "accidentally" walked into the store 30mins ago and signed up to a $99 24 month plan, but have decided that it is in my best interests to cancel this plan after some considerable thought.

      • Did you get the $200 code aswell? If so do you know if a code can be used twice?

  • I signed up to this deal yesterday at JB.

512gb S25 Ultra for $1937 after the $200 pre- release voucher and $1700 JB gift card.

Used remaining balance of $237 using TCN gift cards for additional 10% off.

Question about cancelling the service. I logged into My Telstra app and can't see the new service.

How do i cancel this service as it says to log into my JB HI-FI mobile account to activate? I haven't used the new sim yet as I bought aldi sim to transfer existing number I can't log into jb mobile account without activating the new sim

    • Call telstrra or use their app. Provide the phone number assigned

  • +1

Anyone has insider news on actual release/pick up date from JB? 4th Feb is what's stated on their website.

      • +2

Word from JB today is they expect stock around the 3rd Feb.

    • Once the phones are in stock, will it affect the cancellation process at all?

    • JB was definitely cheaper using all codes. Much easier too as you didn't have to rely on returning accessories. Mine came to $213 using TCN gift cards (10% discount) plus $766 cancellation fee and $99 first month which I'll try to refund for a 512gb S25 Ultra

        • Credit check doesn't faze me. I guess it depends on personal circumstances. Without any codes what was the Samsung price for a 512gb S25U?

  • +2

    Can confirm $99 refunded

    • +1

      Congratulations!

I'm not having much luck :(

      • I just managed to get the refund on my third attempt. It seems to be luck for which agent you get.

  • Has anyone had a crack at 200 off with no voucher?

I'm purchasing tomorrow and missed the coupon / no luck in the other thread.

  • +1

I just placed a pre-order at 4PM today and cancelled it at 5PM. Then I asked about the refund but it was not accepted by Telstra, they said I can go to JB to request a refund. After that Then I just tried again and Telstra accepted it quickly. Looks like I got lucky.
So the total is: $237 + $766= $1003 for a new galaxy, seems like a good deal.

    • What did you say?

      • +1

After they verified my identity via email. I said I wanted a refund for canceling my plan. They said wait a moment for them to check, then they said they will refund me 🤷

        • What did you say to the bot?
          What options did you select?

Did you get put through to the accounts or cancellation team?

          • @Rakddon: What options?
I said refund, and the bot connected me with an agent. Then they sent the message confirmed the refund.

            • @phanquy: Did you cancel first?

              • +1

@Duece1995: Yes, canceled at 5PM + asked about refund (They didn't accept). 8PM try again and success.

  • Any idea on getting a sim card for porting in? Aldi mobiles sim card uses telstra wholesale, so that wont be eligble for doing this.

    • +1

I used Aldi $5 PAYG and no issues. Activated the day before getting the deal. No issues at all

  • Will cancelling the plan affect collection of the phone?

  • So what is the average price people are getting the 512GB for after cancelling etc?

Have an option to get the 1TB for $1340 outright direct from samsung - anyone get lower than that for the 1TB?

    • How to get that price from samsung?

      • Through a friend - not a general public offer - one time code sort of thing

        • Great price . I am also looking for best deal for 1tb

    • Mine came to $1078 for the 512gb. I'll try to get $99 first month refunded too.

    • I am also interested in knowing how to get it for that price from Samsung. Assuming it's the Ultra version and no trade-in required.

  • I was gonna go for the HN deal ($749 upfront + 4*$69 for 4 months of service + $690) but that's a min spend of $1715 when this one can be had for less. The only thing that's worrying me is whether this gonna be affecting your credit score or not as I read somewhere in the comments here.

Also, I may want to delay cancelling until I receive the phone to guarantee no issues there or extra payment to do. In this case I am assuming I will only be charged pro-rata for that first month for the few days of service but I am also reading about people not getting their $99 back. It's still cheaper without the code and not getting the first month refunded. quite tempted to go buy an aldi sim now to activate and use it for porting in (I am assuming this is what the majority had success with here without using their existing numbers)

  • Anyone got recommendations for a nice case and screen protector?

  • +1

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B0DPQLRJLM/ref=ox_sc_act_i…

Personally I use this same case for my S24U and love it. Thin with good protection and nice feel.
    https://amzn.asia/d/akC8QqZ

  • In store now and they are saying if you cancel the plan it affects your credit rating

      • That's why i think it's better to wait until you receive the physical device before cancelling the plan. Is their any way JB instore can tell if you've cancelled the contract?

      • I think all the JB reps would say you would have to pay $1700 but what we have read so far from those who have cancelled the charge from Telstra is about $800

I am going to grab an Aldi sim card now to activate today so maybe tomorrow I can go into a JB store

        • No JB rep would say you have to pay $1700 as it would be what is on the CIS and that is $800. They have to advise based on that document.

            • +1

@G-rig: Ah right. I'm not sure how the staff member thought that would be a legally binding document. Lol

We have people tell us they are going to cancel it and we just advise that Telstra may ban them from getting more plans if they abuse the gift card deals, but I've seen very few be banned.
